A camel? Zeek had never seen a camel! Thrilled, he began to chew on its shoulder, as was protocol for retrieving a movement vessel. None of the others appeared to be doing that, however - in fact, they were all just climbing onto their backs! How bizarre!

Ever respectful of the culture, he mirrored them as best he could, but ended up sitting at an acute angle to the ground, his tentacles wrapped around the camel's middle to prevent him from falling.

1
Vessel unskilled. Can not even fly??? Not sure how to ask instructor about this problem.

2
Miss my sneakers. Feel they may have been needed for vessel. Deepest regrets, vessel. I anoint you with this ceremonial fluid.

3
Strange traveling. No ascension or hiveport. Takes far too long.

4
Forgot tri-noon nourishment. Great loss.

5
Vessel is dead!!

6
I misjudged vessel. Believe this phenomenon is called 'blinking eyeballs'. Did not actually depart this plane.

7
I estimate that we have been traveling for seventy-four days.

8
We are trapped in an eternal state of vessel containm

Please ignore. Stopping.

Tybalt's ears perked at Hel's words.

That must be it! The teachers were working against them! Probably looking for every excuse to give them a detention--even if that meant putting them in situations that resulted in one. Hmmm... yes the more he thought about it, the more it seemed that this was the case.

Selene would now get a suspicious look from the black dog. A veery suspicious look.

Hour 1

Tybalt was still staring suspiciously at Selene. Though he was now perched comfortably on the back of the camel.

Hour 2

Still staring, but getting a little side tracked with other things.

Hour 3

Fell off the camel.

Hour 4

Spent most of this hour running along side his camel and trying to get back on.

Hour 5

Managed to get on the camel but remained sprawled over it like a sack of potatoes.

Hour 6

Fell asleep

Hour 7

Woke up, took a sip and watched a dung beetle as they passed it by.

Hour 8

"Are we there yet?"

So far, the trip was going wonderfully! Of course, Selene was bursting with energy, practically bouncing on her camel. Cold-blooded creatures tended to be very energetic in the heat. But, alas, they had to reach their destination eventually. And that destination was...

...

The middle of nowhere.

"Yes!" Her tiny voice piped out, as she slowed her camel to a stop. "We are here! Everyone please get off your camels, and if you're hungry, have a little snack. We'll be camping here for the evening, when our work is done!" Work? 8 hours on a camel was enough work. What kind of work could she possibly-

Selene walked up through the windy, sandy desert, covering her face with a scarf as the sand beat mercilously against her. She plucked something out of her pocket, and held it up. It was a beautiful little jeweled pumpkin half - two, in fact. "Everyone please stand back! We wouldn't want you falling in now.."

Falling in to what? The entire landscape was a neverending sea of sand..

Until she put the pumpkin halves together.

The ground quaked underneath their feet. The camels sensed danger, instinctively moving back from the center of the shifting sand. A mound of it rose high above their heads, molding itself into a high arched opening. Its middle collapsed, until it was clearly too deep to see into. The dark cavernous opening yawned out ahead of them, and the ground finally stopped shaking.

Selene's reaction to this was a pleased little clapping of her fingers. "Excellent! Everyone inside, shall we?" She gave them all a pleased little smile, and practically skipped her way into the darkness, immediately disappearing.

Quote:
Choices! You have a choice, at this point. Choose to stay with the camels and miss the entire adventure, or choose to follow Selene into the nameless abyss. Should you choose the second option, continue reading!

Inside, it's clear you're walking down steps, but it's impossible to see unless you yourself emit some sort of light. If you do, all you manage to see is that you're.. walking down a narrow flight of steps. Good for you.

Selene's voices echoes back up at you from the darkness. You hear it getting fainter and fainter. You'd better hurry, or you'll lose her.. and what is she saying now? It's hard to hear her, harder than it usually is, but you're pretty sure she's said something about not.. touching..

Oh well. It can't be very important.

The stairs end, and you're left walking into an immense room filled with treasures beyond your imagination. Relics of all kinds fill the room. Gold, silver, and jewels flicker with unearthly light. Just one of these things look expensive enough to make you a very rich Halloweener. But the professor is nowhere to be found.

Quote:
Reaction period! Your path is clear. If you keep walking it, you'll probably find the professor - but there's so many pretty things around you! Gold, jewels, relics, ancient looking tablets, and all manner of treasure! It's hard to resist...

Do you interact with something in the room, or do you press on? Make your decision and post it in BOLD RED!

The fact that Zeek was hugely unimpressed by his movement vessel meant that he had no desire to stand near it. His steadfast belief that unimpressive movement vessels would self-terminate within a 780 second period probably also influenced his decision, but that had no basis in reality, so it really didn't count.

He stared at the hole through which Selene had descended, eyes as wide as two inky black holes could be, little pinpricks of glowing red light fixated directly on the cave.

"The instructor presents this as safe, but Zalgo speaks only of ascension," he meekly commented to nobody in particular, wringing his hands. "But we can solve this, for Zalgo could solve this!"

His brilliant solution was to walk down the already dangerously dark stairs backwards.

And that was how Zeek fell down the mysterious staircase in its entirety, landing in a pile of gems.

Enzo debated his options. He was hot, he was sunburnt, he had sweated through everything- the kid didn't even own a pair of shorts, and somewhere along the way, he had finally cracked and commanded the small handful of rats that had stowed away in his saddlebag to chew through his trousers.

And now his freckled knees were sunburnt too.

He was starting to understand the 'punishment' nature of this outing.

The jeweled pumpkin in the professor's hands got his attention, though and the cave that suddenly appeared meant one thing- shade. "Always cooler under ground anyway," He huffed, feigning indifference over his curiosity as he sauntered after, the heat-stroked rats scampering after him.

Down, down, down, down, he was starting to second guess his decision to follow as he lit a cigar, letting the match lead the way a bit, but a glimmer of gold made him nearly trip over the last few steps.

"Well, I'll be damned...!"

That Dumb Dora of a professor was leading them on a caper. Well, he wasn't anyone's fall guy, but like hell he would pass this opportunity up. He groped about for where he had stashed the remains of his pant legs, knotting off the ends until he had two sacks. Teach was MIA, but still he whistled nonchalantly as he sidled around a pile and began stuffing his sacks with treasure.

As Zeek suddenly collided with the gold nearby, Enzo gave a snort, "Hey, watchit, bub! Getcherown!"

Follow or don't follow. It was obvious which the black dog would do and it clearly wasn't staying and playing baby sitter with the camels.

Though by the time he reached the others, Enzo was stuffing treasure into his pouches while Zeek just about collided with gold pile just beside Enzo.

"Wow. Someone left all their garbage laying around." Given that none of the treasure was silver pumpkin seeds, Tybalt wasn't all that interested. To the black dog, the shiny yellow metal was worthless. So instead he picked at his nose, digging for a different kind of treasure.

"Where did Selene go?" He finally asked, flicking something off his finger and giving a light sniff.

Hel wanted to be excited about getting off the camel…but with the middle of no where being her destination—

Oh…

OH WELL THEN.

Hel’s mouth was hanging open as she stared at this mystical entrance…well…until the professor and her fellow Detitioneers went in. “Ah! Wait up!” She cried, and scampered down the stairs in the darkness after them. The reaper immediately skidded to a stop in the treasure room.

“HOLY s**t!”

That was her intelligent exclamation, and Hel’s mouth fell open once more. Hnnnngh. The thought of how easily her cottage would be set for repairs for lifetimes to come if she could just take some of this treasure home filled her head. She was a Viking after all, and it was in their nature to pillage….

But Hel was honorable, and she did want to make her own seeds to take care of her home…

Hnnnnnngh…

Instead, she turned her gaze to her peers…and stopped when she saw Tybalt picking his nose.

Hel stared and she judged. She judged him hard. Oh so hard.

“I do not know…but I am not sticking around here!” Hel waved, and ran, taking off and kept on, partly in search of Selene, partly to see if there was anything else.

Selene had gone far enough to see the prize ahead of her, but she should have waited for the students. Did she really think they heard her warning? She turned around just in time to see, far off in the distance, a student falling into the treasure. She squeaked, running back towards them, only to slow to a pause when it became obvious Enzo was purposefully stealing the treasure. Zeeks mistake might have been overlooked, but this..

The ground rumbled under their feet.

"Enzo, put it all back!" She whispered, stumbling forward as quickly as possible. She tripped on herself, her tail, her skirt, and on nothing in particular so many times, it was clear she wasn't going to make it in time. "Put it all back!!"

A bright shaft of light broke out from the cavernous ceiling. A second, and a third. They were all shining on Enzo, and consequently on Zeek as well. With each addition of a spotlight, it became brighter, and brighter, until-

"Get away!" Selene had finally reached them - or at least, her tail had. She swiped them both out of the light, and fell face first on the ground in the middle of the circle, just in time to be jolted with electricity from above.

The lights all disappeared. The room smelled oddly of cooked meat, and smoke. And it was dim, but still light enough to see that Selene was still on the floor. She'd taken whatever punishment was meant for those who had touched the forbidden treasure, but it clearly hadn't killed her. She was already starting to sit up.

And hissing. She was definitely hissing.

The professor stood, and continued to get up, somehow. Or perhaps she was rising? No, she was definitely getting bigger. The hissing hadn't stopped, either - it was a louder, deafening sound.

The kind of sound that could only come from a giant, monstrous snake.

Selene's black eyes were hypnotized, cursed by the treasure that had been touched. Immediately, she snapped out at the students, attacking blindly. Or, was it blindly? She seemed to go for the two who had touched the treasure first..

BOSS FIGHT

Enzo was suddenly knocked back, treasure scattering around him as he gave a yelp of alarm. "The heck was that for-" He cut off as he saw their teacher turned massive snake rising up over them.

His sunburnt face went pale. Quickly, he gathered up his hat, hands clenching into fists. Well, if they had to fight for the treasure, he was perfectly ok with that. He gave a snap of his fingers, the rats that had followed him all straightening to attention over the various mounds of treasure.

"ATTACK!" He shouted and pointed.

The rats stared at him blankly. Was he crazy? That was a giant snake. The rats stayed where they were and went back to preening their whiskers.

Enzo deflated.

Hel's judging look was returned with an innocent, wide, toothy grin. Though it quickly faded when Selene returned--and turned into a giant a** snake.

Hey hey HEY!
This was student abuse--or something! Maybe Hel really was onto something when she said the teachers had it out for them. What was she going to do---eat them? That HURT!

Of course the whole treasure touching having anything to do with it never occurred to the black dog.

To be honest, Tybalt wasn't really sure what to do right now. Would they get another detention for hitting a teacher? Or would this be a case of self defense? Either way, the moment Enzo yelled attack, Tybalt perked, thinking the command was for them and not the rats.

"Okay!" He called back. A little too cheerfully and just seconds before he discharged several bolts of blue lightning. All of which rained down on their, temporarily insane, professor. Though not without some recoil damage to himself.

He didn't bother trying again, the upperclassmen seemingly having this business under control.

Instead he turned to scoop up his fallen treasure sacks. "YEAH, YOU GET 'EM. NICE JOB!"

Well…it wasn’t a field trip or a class or Amity without some horrific fight…even if it so happened to be their teacher.

Once again, Hel made an ‘I am watching you’ gesture to Tybalt, and then got serious. The reaper summoned her spear, and pointed it at the giant snake. Maybe it was cruel to just start attacking their kind and soft spoken professor without any attempt at talking…but this snake was a serious threat, and when threatened, Hel fought back.

“Knock it out!” She called out to her fellow peers, wincing from that strike she took. But she then paused to see Tybalt dish out an awesome attack. “JACKIN’ A!” She shrieked. “That was AWESOME!” Not one to be shown up, the ghoul then focused and chanted, a spell circle appearing beneath her feet. She then unleashed a spell, which took the form of a giant raven and dove straight through the snake.

The serpent's tail whipped around, knocking the pinstripe bags of gold to the ground again, as well as the little reaper that clutched them with a strangled yelp. "Hey hey hey, now! Aint this over-reacting just a bit??" His fists wailed, although nothing he managed to do compared to that of the elder detention-mates.

They were good allies to have, he reflected as he waited to get eaten. "A little help here??"

While Zeek was desperately trying to figure out what a 'Getcherown' was, it seemed that the answer was presenting itself behind him. Or what he thought was the answer, at least, because it was the only thing in this room that he wished he had been watching.

The attack sent him stumbling backwards again, and he barely caught his footing before he would have hit another pile of treasure. He sure didn't want to summon another Getcherown, which falling into piles of treasure seemed to do.
