Hope didn't have a name at the time. As she took the soup from Leatherhead, she tilted her head at his question not able to talk. She had not had anyone to teach her anything. Her mother died when she was born as the birth strained her body too much to survive. She was taken right from birth and was made into what she was today. She had not been to school or anything so she didn't know what science or anything was. She knew some words but they were not happy words. Then she put her ears back as she started to eat the soup hungrily making sure not to eat too fast.

Leatherhead sat on the ground and said "So you can't really talk and you don't have a name. let me think....... i know i will call you Hope. do you like that name. also i will tach you how to talk ok." leatherhead smiled a small smile not revealing his teeth.

Hope then looked up at him and smiled as she heard her name. SHe then tried to say it. "H-Ho-Hope!" She said cutely. She had always been a fast learner and had found ways of surviving with Bishop's torture. Her small body was full of scars, bruises and blood. Then her ears and tail appeared as she was happy for the first time in her short life. She smiled at Leatherhead and giggled cutely for him.

Leatherhead said "Great there you go i knew you could talk but with some time you will be speaking perfectly." Leatherhead heard her giggle and rubbed his scaly head and he chuckled a little in response then he said "i am gonna locked up the whole place ok so no one can find us we can be safe ok." Leatherhead walked and began locking up all the exits.

Once she finished the soup, Hope looked around, hugging her tail shyly as she waited for Leatherhead to get back. She then got up and went to explore some. She stayed close to the chair though so she wouldn't worry her new friend if he thought she was lost. Then she saw something shiny in the sewer water and reached for it wrapping her tail around a pipe that was next to the water so she wouldn't fall in as she didn't know how to swim. It was a strange rock. She took it to Leatherhead hoping he would know what it was a rainbow colored stone that her kind used to control their powers in their fox forms. She was mesmerized by the colors and how bright they were. "Pretty!" She said looking up at Leatherhead with the rock in hand and a smile on her face.

Leatherhead came back and said "hope what do you have there in your hand?" Leatherhead was curious

Hope showed Leatherhead the rock and said "Pwetty," as she didn't know it was a rock. She was used to seeing grey sedimentary rocks in her cell and never saw any other ones before.

Leatherhead picked her up and sat in his recliner "it is pretty isn't it. it's time for bed." Leather head started to rock hope gently in the recliner while humming a lulliby.

Leatherhead picked her up and sat in his recliner "it is pretty isn't it. it's time for bed." Leather head started to rock hope gently in the recliner while humming a lulliby.

Hope hugged the sparkling rock close to her as it felt familiar to her. As if she'd seen it before. Her mother had one just like it but Bishop took it from her mother while she was pregnant. Her mother ended up dying from both hunger and her powers getting out of control. Once she went insane, Bishop had her killed as she went on a rampage looking for Hope after she was stolen by Bishop after her mother fell asleep on the day she was born. Hope finally fell asleep after a few minutes of Leatherhead rocking and humming to her. Her eyes were closed and she was out cold in his arms feeling safe in them.

Leatherhead grabbed a cover and covered hope and himself up and he whispered to her "Good night" and with that he fell asleep.

The next morning, Hope was looking around her new home while Leatherhead was still asleep as it was still early morning. She was holding her stone in her hands as she looked around making sure to stay in the vicinity of Leatherhead's lair. She was happy that he was taking care of her. Then as she was wandering around, she turned into her fox form as the stone was now around her neck on a chain. She was unaware that she had transformed. The stone was the cause. This was the first time she was in this form since she was born. The stone was bonding with her heart.

Leatherhead woke up and looked around and said "Hope where are you." Leatherhead got up and went to the kitchen and started on breakfast.

Hope then came running as she heard Leatherhead waking up. She was in her fox form as she giggled and hid behind the couch with her tails sticking out cutely. She then came up behind leatherhead and jumped onto him after making sure he wasn't holding a knife or anything.

Leatherhead started to stumble "Hope come on i am trying to cook."

leatherhead's tail wrapped around hope and he regained his balance. "I have to finish breakfast then we can play." leatherhead went back to cooking.
