Breathing. Heavy breathing. A long, dark, tunnel that didn't seem to end. Every-which-way was a dead end and only one seemed to lead to a nest of
cobwebs and the stench of mold. You could hear water dripping from nearby, exposed pipes. The loud echo of silence grasping at your ears. I couldn't see an inch in front of my face. I needed a flashlight. Feeling the walls with my hands, I noticed it began to narrow. THUMP THUMP THUMP went my heart. It's erratic speed was making my adrenaline go haywire. THUMP THUMP THUMP. THUMP THUMP THUMP. Wait. My heart?
Light switch. Thank heavens for a light switch. Flick........flick.....nothing is happening. I decided to try again. Flick.....the hum begins to sound through the light switch panel and the light slowly flickers on. Adjusting my eyes to the now dimly lit room, I see them. The legs, all bent awkwardly. Their arms, swinging meat cleavers at what seemed to be piles of bodies. THUMP THUMP THUMP. A louder version of it now rings true in my ears.
RUN. I need to run. My legs wont move. I'm terrified. Do they see me standing there, watching them. Did they not notice the lights flickering on. I see one of the creature's beady eyes finally peering in my direction. It's back arched and its jaws twitched. It's mangled body twisting to face me. Disgusting. It's...AFTER ME....crap. Now my legs will themselves to move and before I realize it, i'm running back the way I came. I search a stairway or opening in a wall where I can slip past. Nothing. I keep running, my heart racing and pounding in my ears.
All I remember is lying on my stomach, being dragged away, then being hoisted on top of a table and a knife glistening above me. Glancing at the creatures face, I saw its glowing beady eyes staring at me wickedly. My arms were tied down, and my feet wouldn't move. I wanted to scream. SCREAM. But nothing came out. There it was. The blade right near my chest. The creature lifted the blade above his head and then brought it right back down swiftly.........................................Gasping. I'm gasping for air. I'm sweating. I bolt up and feel at my chest for the wound. Solid. I'm solid. Phew. It was only a nightmare....right? Before I fall asleep, I hear it. I see it. Breathing. Heavy breathing. Beady eyes glowing through the darkness of my bedroom. A silhouetted figure hunched above my bed, brandishing it's sharp pointed knife. It's aiming at me. It pounces on top of me. Lifts me up from my bed and aims the knife at my stomach.
MOM! MOM! I yell. No response.

sorry I only had time to write a short one. I have exams and homework too. I hope i'm not the only one writing though. Come on peeps. It's Halloween. hehe.

Wow, prior to re-reading the beginning posts I had forgotten what you were grading for exactly. I had little time at all these past few weeks with college classes getting in the way and taking up my time, but I managed to pull out a short story and I don't think it'll fit ANY of the criteria but....I wanted to at least send out some vibe of sorts.
I'm a little rusty when it comes to story writing. And when it comes to grammar, I wasn't really focusing on that I guess. Sorry. I'm usually very literate, especially when it comes to Roleplays hehe.
I can't wait though to see more of these spooky stories. emotion_c8

Do you want to add a 1 week extension on the event so more entries can come in? Or do you want to just cut how many prizes are going out and go with the entries you've already got?
