Snarling, slicing, biting, angry hisses from actually both figures. It looked like both sides refused to relent. Kettil felt weaker by the moment but he refused to give in. Refused to back away in case he could etch out a win for himself.

But it was less about winning, more about surviving.

The creature gave out a dying screech but Kettil didn't get to enjoy the fruits of his labor as it struck him down and all he saw was darkness.

This fight was fruitless and he knew it. He hadn't learned what he was supposed to learn, he had succumbed to his darker, baser natures.

That wasn't what he was supposed to do.

He shouldn't have done that.

Kettil was back in the white room. He gave himself a second or two to rest before he dove back in and without a second glance at his attire he moved to grab a sword to face off against his foes. Except this time the first wave overwhelmed him at first.

He fought against it at first and as he did so he heard a voice - not related to that of the strange instructor but something more familiar and comforting.

...m...ight.. here. fi...ht..!

ou...can...d ... it..! I am ..here!

Kettil heard the voice again but more clearly. The voice of his familiar. Kettil cut through the first wave as he remembered the tale of his grandmother about Muut and their owls. The owls were more than just companions for a fight. More than weapons.

The owls remembered things. Important things. Things that Muut carried in their hearts.

Owls were an extension of a warrior's heart.

Some fought using more songs. Some fought using only their fists.

Then there were others that used both.

Kettil rarely used songs with Endzela. He preferred to fight on his own, fight using Endzela as a tactical piece within a battle - if he used her at all. She was his way out of a difficult situation rather than a fancy glorified song book filled with enemy songs and songs that helped heal.

He used her when he had need of her but mostly ... She was his heart.

She was Him.

Kettil lunged through the second wave of familiars with a stronger, more determined heart.

He was starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, though this time around it was a lot tougher than the first time he'd gone through this. The first time he'd been more distracted, but it didn't affect how he went through the easier figures that were sent at him.

Little drones protecting a queen of a hive.

Little drones that needed to die so he could stab at the heart of his lingering doubts.

He could hear Endzela now. More clearly than ever before. It was as if she was now the seemingly simple beat of his heart - calling him forward, cheering him on. It urged him to thrive. To live. To fight.

To fight for what he believed in. For what they believed in as one entity.

Kettil cut through the masses with a determined face, he felt oddly more powerful than ever before and he loved every moment of it.

It seemed futile as they tore at him and he cut through the last of them with a bit of weariness showing at the edge of his body, the way his shoulders slumped and his breath came out in short quick gasps. The last couple of little annoyances were silenced and out out with a quick slice and then he stood for a moment staring at the larger lingering form of his nightmares and doubts.

The moments where he was not sure of himself or the future he promised to those around him. The fear of failure, the fear of loss.

Wasn't it a good thing to have something to lose? It was a challenge in itself to keep from having a loss, to keep from losing everything.

There was also a thrill in fighting as if he had nothing to lose. It was a thin precarious line that he had to tread. Fear would lessen his skills, he had to get rid of that fear.

Much like before he took a moment to center himself and to heal. Kettil was proud but he wasn't too proud to take a moment to make sure he wasn't in top form to face off against the foe before him. He was going to take them down and then he would take on the rest of the world shortly there after.

He had to do it so he could protect everything and everyone that mattered to him.

Kettil wanted to do it so he could build his life on his own too feet and with his own two hands.

This time there were no words. No taunts. Just an angry hiss from the monstrosity that had crawled out of the chrysalis, it tried to puff up as if it was bigger and more intimidating than it really was. Kettil only smirked and sliced into it without any fear.

There was a screech and a return strike from the figure.

He wasn't scared anymore. He wasn't distracted.

Clarity gave him strength. Endzela's chants of encouragement rang through his mind.

There were no words left. There was no revelations left for this fight. Kettil tore into it harder than ever before.

Kettil struck in, it struck back. He didn't feel weariness seeming into him. Kettil refused to lose to this being that claimed to know him so well. That used his thoughts and feelings against him as a weapon.

It would do so no longer.

It was as if the figure was having a temper tantrum as it tore at him. It hissed, it squalled, it tore at whatever part of him it could find.

Kettil just simply kept cutting as if pruning a wild weed down into a more manageable size.

There was no baking away anymore.

It tried. It tried so hard. It could feel the final mortality coming for it.

Somehow it had been saved earlier only to be revived to health for a true end. It was angered by this revelation as it tried to tear the boil down to size. It was starting to plead and bargain with Kettil, giving promises and offering prizes he could have if only he would leave it be.

Kettil didn't listen, he had no more heart for this creature.

"I hope you're ready," Kettil muttered under his breath as he sliced away a portion of the wing the creature was using to bat at him as if to push him away.

"The end is coming," he intoned toward it. The creature only screeched unintelligibly back at him.

It was strange as it struck him one final time before he landed his own last hit. The boss creature froze up in the midst of a death throe, its eyes stared blankly at him no longer registering that he was there.

Then everything was black. It was as if the colors had bled into darkness rather than the empty void of white that he would have expected. There was a crackling sound as well as a woosh and suddenly there was a strange object. Kettil wandered toward it, his curiosity getting the best of him, as he reached for the object it split into two with a small shadow of some sort escaping from the halves. Finally the strange trinket dissipated into nothing.

...There was blessed silence. He hadn't quite noticed the music before or if he had it had taken a backseat to everything else he was going through. Kettil was too busy trying to correct his own thoughts and wading through them.

Now that there was silence ... and his normal clothes upon his body...

Kettil let out a deep cleansing sigh, glancing toward where he thought he saw something or someone staring at him before he left the area. He had no desire to linger.
