User ImageDiana felt she had cut the bark enough as the stick looked like a wooden spear. She cut holes into the fish flesh before mounting it on the stick and looking about. She set up other sticks to act as makeshift mounts as she lay the fish between them like a rotisserie. Leaving it there, she found a large maple leaf and began to fan the fire as she put on a few nearby sticks. It would keep the fire going for a little while, but not for a long period of time. She would need something bigger then stray twigs.

She began to doze off again when she turned to look around the half built fort she was in. Seeing a small red light, she tilted her head as she walked closer, seeing a tiny hidden camera. She slowly moved, reaching her hand out as she carefully removed the camera from it's spot, hoping for wires. There were none. She looked into the lens of the camera before moving it around, trying to figure out how it worked. She pulled out her swiss army knife and undid the screws; then she looked inside. After a few moments, she closed the camera back up, screwing it back into place as she began to climb a tree. She was hoping to find a radio tower or something that was receiving the data from the camera. But to her dismay as she reached the top of the tree and looked about, she saw nothing but trees and the sky. She moved the camera around as if she was shooting film at the position of the sun, and then at the clouds. She then turned the camera around, looking into the lens before carefully climbing down the tree with the camera in hand.

The head assassin entered into the control room. He wanted to see what his two fellow members were doing. All of his equipment was ready for the hunt, but he would give it a last minute check to make sure everything was all in order. If there was one thing Adrian liked, it was order. "Checking up on the game?" the assassin leader asked as he approached Alvia. Adrian surveyed the images closely. He wasn't planning on relinquishing his title so easily. He then noticed something was off with one of the screens.

User ImageAs soon as Diana climbed down the tree, she walked a little towards the fire, the camera pointing upside down towards the bloodstained fort with the corpse missing. She set the camera aside on the flat log before walking over to the fire, the camera pointed so that only below her shoulders could be seen as she walked. She bent down, adjusting the fire before turning the fish. She walked back to the camera, picking it up. First she turned it so that the lens was towards the trees as she examined it. Then she turned it down as it faced her chest. Then she pointed the lens towards her face as she scratched the side of her head in thought. Suddenly, she made a small smirk as she extended her free hand and pushed a button to the side, turning the camera off. She proceeded to put the camera back into its original place and went back to tending her food.

Henry continued on walking onwards, a distant fire caught his eye.
“Hello…is somebody there?” unsure if his voice was audible but he approached the fire anyway. He could not see anyone in sight, as a tree trunk was in the way of his view. The chill of the night breeze was taking a toll on him and the massive tear on his shirt did not make it any better. The sound of rippling water diverted his attention from the fire; Henry followed the source of the rippling noise and soon came into contact with water. He threw his dirty cloth aside and cupped a handful of water in both hands before splashing it onto his face, whilst doing so; he kept a close eye on the bright fire a few feet away from him. He made sure his face was thoroughly rubbed clean, using the moon as the source of light and the reflection of the stream as a mirror. Henry dried his hands and face with the hem of his shirt, disregarding how horrendous he look at that moment. He was still in his pajama wear, the clothing he was wearing, on the day of his abduction. His trackies were covered in dirt and his plain white t-shirt was ripped, exposing his lean abdomen.

Henry continued on approaching the camp fire, keeping his guard up, just in case he had to fight off a nothing ungodly bandit. His heart was beating unnaturally fast, the closer he got to the fire, the closer he got to the tree trunk. He didn't realize he was holding his breath until he reached the other side of trunk, a figure came into sight, a figure of a girl, and Henry let out a sigh. He looked at the girl once again, raising his hands up in a surrendering position,
“I’m not here to hurt you, can I just…sit by the fire? It’s really cold at this time of night” still keeping his eye on the girl, he backed up slowly towards the other side of the fire, facing her.

Maori

*Hunter* *Control room*

He grabbed his sheathed dagger which lay by the bedside table and latched it onto his belt. Maori left his bunker and passed the other notorious assassins gathering by the headquarters, mostly boasting about their last kill or their ambition to be the next leader. He smiled in retort of their ridiculous claims; almost half the assassins in this room have no potential to be a leader, most of which lacked order and restraint. The hunger to kill was a plague, spreading fast in their camp, those with this disease had a pale face and blood shot eyes. Maori did not ‘enjoy’ killing, he does not get anything out of it, there was no sense of thrill, like every other assassin claim to feel after a conquest, but then again he doesn’t feel any sort of emotion in whatever he does.

Curious to see what was in store for him this year, he headed to the control room. Maori had hoped no one was there as he was not one for social interaction, but the opposite of his expectations were met. Not only were there other assassins present but the head assassin was there too. Upon habit, he approached the leader and bowed slightly,
“Sir!” before turning his attention to the black screen of one of the camera footage.

Adrian turned his head to Maori for a moment and nodded, acknowledging his presence. The assassin leader then turned his head back to the screens and noticed one went black. "Hmm, seems some of the prey have discovered the surveilence cameras. Even more reason to begin the hunt before the others begin to realise what's going on" he stated. "Shall I call everyone for the final briefing?"

User ImageStella only barely looked up when Adrian and Maori came in, but seemed to come to her senses when Maori bowed to the Assassin leader. She stood now as well and gave the customary bow, then turned her attention to the cameras just as one of them went black. Angry and startled that one of the prey items had discovered a camera this early, Stella tightened her grip on her knives and looked ready to take matters into her own hands when Adrian suggested bringing everyone in for the final briefing. She looked at him for only a second and the look in her eyes was terrifically dangerous, but then she turned back to the cameras.
"Yes," she said in a husky voice. "We probably should."
If word spread among the prey that they were being watched, things could really start to get ugly. Of course, as professional assassins they knew how to camouflage and surprise their prey, but she really did not like the fact that they had already found a camera. That meant intelligence, far greater this year than in others. She was beginning to get an idea, but she wasn't sure whether she should share it with the others yet.

Diana checked her fish, noting that it was now done. She looked back at the blood on the wall, then at the camera. She took the fish off of the fire and then began to eat it on the skewer. She looked up at the camera and waited patiently. After she was half done with her fish, she unhooked the camera again with her free hand. She then bit the fish and pulled it off the skewer with her teeth, holding it in her mouth and slowly eating it as she used the stick to write out a message. Suddenly, she turned the camera back on and pointed it at the message written in the dirt.

"You grabbed the wrong person. The person you were chasing turned left down the road, not that you probably care after going through the trouble of bringing me here. You did this, didn't you?" After a few moments of pointing at the message, she pointed the camera at the dried blood stains on the trees and wood as she scribbled out the message with the stick end and began writing another. She then pointed the stick at the new message. "In the words of my psychologist: "that's not loving." Not that I actually understand what that means. Regardless, I don't feel like dying for someone else mistake. Your mistake. That's just dumb. Just so you know." After leaving the camera on the message for a moment, she turned the camera off and put it back as she began nibbling on the fish some more.

After a while of moping and feeling sorry for herself, Carly decided she ought to go find that boy again. Maybe he would know something that she didn't, even though she hated the thought that information might somehow have been withheld from her. She started off in the direction he seemed to have taken, but because she had seen him for only a few seconds it wasn't long before she was completely and utterly lost. Frustrated and scared, she balled her hands into fists and clenched her teeth as though she might have launched into a tantrum, but with no one around to hear it was useless. Someone needed to find her, to rescue her, to bring her back home where she belonged. Someone needed to just be here right now. Why was she alone? Didn't she deserve to have company in this dreary forest?
The answer, of course, was yes. Carly continued on her quest with that thought, and after a while she caught sight of something. She squinted and put her hand to her forehead like a visor. Then, she moved forward. It was fire, and fire meant someone tending to it. Thank goodness, she was saved! Carly approached the fire, and as she did smelled something acrid in the air. She scrunched up her nose in distaste: it was fish, and she hated fish. There was no way she would be eating any fish, no matter how long she had to stay in this forest.
Finally, she was directly in front of the fire. As she had expected, there was a person here: Diana. The fish smell was even stronger now too, and Carly had to keep herself from gagging. She cleared her throat and said slowly, "Um... who are you?"
If she was someone who knew where they were or why they were here, that would be great. Carly had not yet noticed the message written into the ground or the camera that the other girl had managed to find.

Maori

*Hunter* *Control room*

Maori examined every surveillance screen, noting that they were travelling in pairs. It would be harder for him to approach any of them if they were forming groups so early at this stage before the hunt has even started. This year is going to be different, it’s going to be a challenge, “Just more work for me...” he thought, every year it the same old scenario, either they are just too gullible or did not trust other preys.

It was only last year that he had made the easiest assassination; a girl, not far from his age was wounded and afraid, on the other side of the woods, far away from the other abducted misfits. Not only had he aided the girl but he also nursed her wound until it was fully recovered before guiding her towards the other end, to meet the others. He traveled with her for only 4 days and already they have attracted three other people to join their group; of course the three men had not suspected a thing. He duped the girl into distrusting the rest and to only trust him and as naive as she was, she nodded in agreement. Maori waited until they were all sleeping soundly, before he got up to slit each and everyone’s throat. Killing the three who have recently joined him was easy, none of them woke up, it was a clean kill. But for the girl whom he spent most of his time with, she woke up before he could even get close to her. She covered her agape mouth in shock, her knees buckled as he inched closer. Tears were filling her eyes as she shook her head in disbelief.
“Please, tell me you didn’t do this…” Maori just stared at her with his signature hazy cold eyes, hiding his dagger behind his back. He pulled her into an embrace with his empty left hand and stayed there as he felt his shirt getting drenched by her tears. The minute he felt that she was no longer shaking, Maori stabbed her from behind, making sure he had aimed at her heart. He pushed the dagger farther in until the handle was in contact with her body; the tip of his dagger went through her, puncturing his chest.

Recalling the memory made him unconsciously touch the scar on his chest beneath his shirt. Maori drew the thought to the back of his mind before answering Adrian,
“Everyone is already gathered by the lobby” he approached the door and turned the knob, waiting by the agape door for Adrian and the rest, before leaving the room himself.

User ImageDiana stiffened slightly before turning to see Carly. She finished the fish that was in her mouth before quickly smearing the message on the ground with her foot. She frowned before rushing towards a tree and proceeding to climb it to get out of Carly's reach. She sat upon the branches, looking down at her and still saying nothing.
