Now that he had gotten the hang of the stupid running his fear through the sword thing he was making quick work of the things. Pointing the blade at another couple of them they burned to a flaming crisp within an instant. He only caught one or two in the blaze but it was enough to gain progress.

Blondie was managing to hold her own just fine. It seemed she turned into a decent fighter. Still he was concerned. Now that he thought about it his mother couldn't be here. she was supposed to be on a trip to a small island half way around the world, but her image... from his dreams. Was this an illusion? Did Blondie see it?

It was a good thing he didn't know what Ruth was Really thinking but he realized he might have a problem if he flew too high. That skirt did not have shorts underneath he was just now realizing. "Jack Damn it there should be a warning on this stupid class! Do not enter if you want your dignity." One hand held down the stupid skirt. It was way too short to be wearing without shorts. Whoever designed this was a perv.

Ruth, luckily, was preoccupied with other thoughts that did not involve looking up Andrew's skirt. Mostly because Blonde would not allow her to think it without turning beet red at the mere suggestion, and slightly because she still had to deal with the shadows.

Which had suddenly coalesced into someone else. Unfortunately it was not her other superior, though Ruth was certain she would deal with it the same way she'd dealt with her false-father-figure. The image before her was of herself, with an I.D. tag and serial number where her face should have been.

There was a silent yell of denial before the sound of the steel pipe splashing through liquid darkness reached Ruth's ears. She could not allow Andrew to see that, not that she thought he could but she didn't want to all the same.

Andrew managed to do some damage but it was a lot harder to fight being preoccupied with his skirt. Nope, he did not enjoy this. So Ruth was very lucky her partner was not at all paying attention to her. Besides the one that came after him was wet and made a strange slopping sound.

The blade cut though that one in short order.

Before the ooze of darkness could reform itself, Ruth dealt the finishing blow with enough blunt force trauma that crackled with FEAR. That seemed to take care of it! She allowed herself a big, malicious grin but quickly subdued it with a more pleasant, relieved smile.

How did Andrew fare, she wondered, and while she still held her pipe out, she looked up to where he was.

poorly was probably the best answer.

Some of the things jumped on him and he was swinging wildly trying to peel the things off. Once again he was trying to use his fire through his hands and it was not working nearly as well.

He seemed to have two major modes of ability, either he sucked or he was burning the waves of things to a crisp this time wiping out at least half a dozen after throwing the on that was on his head off. It came away with one of the fire flowers, not that Andrew cared.

Finally he caught up. There were tears in the dress and he was missing a flower but he gave no jacks at this point.

"Hi...." he was a bit of a mess but he caught up to Blondie, still wobbling in the dumb shoes.

Ruth's clothes looked better than Andrew's, partly because they were in shades of gray and they've been fighting shadows. Any injuries she sustained finally caught up to her however and her arms and legs felt sore from the exertion. Swinging her weapon didn't used to be this cumbersome. Perhaps the classroom's effects were to blame?

She gave the fire demon an encouraging thumb's up, however, and even performed a brief golf-clap with utmost sincerity. Just for you, Andrew, just for you!

He felt a little refreshed after the battle but, was she clapping? he frowned a bit.

"These shoes are a pain." he stretched his wings out and kept his tail tucked in close. His eyes traveled to the boss and his stomach dropped. He didn't really want to fight that, mother or no.

"Are you ready?" he said nothing about what he saw.

Whatever else they were going to be up against made itself known then and there. There was a suffocating sense of dread permeating the room as the large creature loomed into existence, one long arm outstretched. It was trying to pulverize them!

Ruth brought up her steel pipe, blocking at the fist with a resounding clang of metal and rattle of FEAR. She felt the floor beneath her crumble, creating a crater where she stood.

It was not his mom, it was not his mom, it was not his mom. Andrew summoned up fire through the blade and let out a burst of fire. What was going on. He saw Blondie get hit but didn't see anything hitting her. This was, something wet hit him in the stomach and tossed him back. A hand went town to try and preserve the skirt.

Pain surged through Ruth's body, racking down from her arms and into her feet. Though her knees threatened to buckle under the strain, she grit her teeth and shoved back, managing to give a weak swing of her pipe.

Whatever this was, it didn't look like it was going for Andrew. The boil sounded like he had his own problems.

Andrew was perfectly ok with Blondie not looking his way. But this thing fought dirty with another wave of water soaking the dress and sticking it down. Well at least it would stay down now. even if... he was losing feeling where the skirt rested. He managed to keep his tail well away.

Ruth was starting to feel the effects of the adrenaline wearing off. Her FEAR didn't look like it was going to keep her afloat for much longer. She dared a peek at Andrew's direction for...what exactly? Did she hope he could help her? The wet skirt contest distraction cost her aim.
