Day 5 - A Little Bit of Trouble
Ren did like hats, even if he didn't wear many himself (the fedora he'd used to wear was tucked sadly away, in memories of times with people he no longer talked to, for whatever reason that had been), and went along with Hel's insistence obediently, laughing the whole way.
At least until his cover was blown.
"Hel," Ren half screeched, though because he was trying to keep his voice down to avoid too much attention, it was more of a screechy sort of whisper. He hastily yanked the hat back from her hands and shoved it onto his head, pulling it quickly down over his ears.
The little girl was still staring at him.
Ren stared right back.
"This isn't what it looks like."

[ Day 1 - Arrival - Paris Las Vegas]
After a few hours of being here, Pokerus had discovered a few things:
1. It was really jacking hot. Not even 'halloween stuck in a desert' hot but 'fry a jack dam egg on the pavement hot because the human sun was insane and she would honesty be cooler in a volcano' hot. She found it best to stay indoors, the strange human machines producing cold air to keep things cool.
2. Humans couldn't see her. Well, not without a lot of effort on her part. If she kept out of peoples way and did nothing they would walk right past her. But if she concentrated hard enough, they would start to notice. Perhaps they could sense something 'else' was here, or they saw a flash of blue out of the corner of their eye. She figured if she tried hard enough she could get their attention, but she had to be careful they didn't see her.
For this purpose she had dressed moderately, with her normal pair of ripped up jeans, sleeve-less shirt and boots, and a large hat to cover her ears and horns (She still had trouble shifting those out). Her tail was a little easier to focus on, much like her wings which she shifted in and out all the time, and she had better success getting rid of that.
3. There where so many humans here. It was mind boggling just how many of them there could be in one place. Apparently this was a really famous city.

[ Day 1 - Arrival - Venetian nighttime ]
Pokerus watched the boats ferry people across the river, mildly amused by the spectacle meanwhile wondering why humans would need to have a moat inside their mauls. She had heard of demons splurging on extravagant designs but this was rather overdone, wasn't it? Regardless of the intriguing set up, she needed to find a place to bunk for the night, which brought a new set of challenges for her to face.
For starters, she had no clue if she was supposed to purchase a room from somewhere, or if she should find a nice cave to sleep, or if humans did something completely different. The old style cottages in the books she read looked nothing like the giant buildings littered everywhere, and it wasn't as if she could go up to a human and ask; her attempts to look more human were progressing, but she wasn't about to fool anyone right now, unless she found a really convincing disguise. Plus she wasn't supposed to be seen by humans anyway. Which was strange, considering she needed to scare humans in order to get FEAR so she had to be seen in some form, right?
The whole thing hurt her head. Best to leave the scaring for another occasion and focus on blending in and learning how humans worked.
In the end, she just found a large fancy looking hotel and slept on the floor in the corner of the building. She didn't need a bed to sleep anyway.

[ Day 4 - More then halfway ]
So far Pokerus had seen plenty of strange and wonderful things, including many of the humans intriguing contraptions. Like the helmet that you put over your head and showed you strange visions, that was pretty weird. And the multitude of skellyphones and electronic devices that everyone was using. She could see where halloween go their inspiration from. The buildings were always a sight to see, though there was one she had not been to yet but had seen many a human walk into, which was the giant casino, one of the things she actually knew about.
Today she ventured into the large building, staring at everyone and everything while trying to make sure she didn't bump into anyone by accident. Everywhere she could hear the dings and whistles of the machines, with humans sitting in front of them placing coins into small notches. Some were using peices of paper, which she figured was a form of currency. A strange thing to use indeed, since when was paper worth anything?
The dragon knew the concept of gambling, though wasn't one to partake in the ritual. She didn't like parting with any treasure unless she had to. The machines though were utterly foreign to her. She watched a human put some coins into one machine and press a button, the little symbols on the screen spinning down at a rapid rate until they slowed, most not matching up. Then he put another coin in and repeated the process.
It didn't take long for her to figure out the idea; the icons needed to match and if they did, more coins came out. She frowned though, as it seemed like the human was putting in more coins then he got back. Defiantly not worth her time.
She left the human to his strange game, moving to observe others play more traditional games, blackjack and poker.
