[1v1] Training Montage (Nim and Quillan)

"Hey," Nim stopped and grabbed his shoulders, steadying him. "Are you sure? We don't have to keep going if you're not feeling good."

She didn't want to fight someone who was struggling to even stand upright. That seemed wrong.

"Yeah I'm feeling better now!" To show he was back to his normal condition, he threw a punch at Nim, although he felt bad that he did that while Nim was worrying about him. Oh well, this should prove to her that he's ready to spar again.

Nim laughed as he threw a punch and took a few steps back. "Alright, tough guy. If you say so."

She kicked him this time, glad when the blow met his torso. She hadn't quite figured out how to channel lighting to her feet yet, but that was next on her list of things to learn. It would make her kicks way more powerful.

The ink demon boil noticed Nim's kick didn't contain electricity. Maybe it was because she was wearing shoes? He didn't know, but he was worried if/when Nim could throw lightning at him because he could only attack from up close (unless he used ink), and he wouldn't be able to if she attack him before he was within range. Oh well, he would worry about it later when Nim actually demonstrated she could do something like that. Until then ...

Trying to work out the lightning-kick thing again, Nim threw another kick Quillan's way.

Except she missed, and lost her balance. She went rolled across the padded gym floor, laughing as she realized how she'd suddenly ended up there. "Oh no. I didn't mean to do that."

"You okay?" She seemed like she hadn't gotten injured, but Quillan asked just in case. Oh well, since she seemed like she was fine, he attempted to kick her as gently as possible.He probably should have waited until the reaper had answered, as it was courtesy to do so, but too late now.

"Yeah, I'm good. Just lost my balance." She rolled away as he kicked at her and hopped back to her feet, but the motion left her confused and unable to hit him.

Quillan took this opportunity to try something new. He heard that elbows were strong and wanted to try that, but if it made contact, that might seriously injure Nim. That and he had to get much closer to his opponent than when he was kicking or punching. He made a fist with his left hand, wrapped his right hand around his fist, pulled his elbow back, and when he got into range, he jabbed his elbow at her while pulling back a bit because he didn't want to hurt her too much.

"Use your fear!" Cirrus shouted from the sidelines.

Oh! Right! She had one of those! Nim focused and tried to summon the tiny cloud she could use to attack, and for a second the area right about Quillan's head looked kind of misty, but nothing happened. Not even a raindrop.

"That was uneventful."

Seeing Nim try her Fear attack, Quillan wanted to try too! Using his left hand index finger, he quickly scribbled some words in the air with the ink his body naturally generated. What did he write? Well, he couldn't think of anything important so he wrote the hours of operation of the gym. The ink dried quickly after he'd written it because the letters were thin. After he'd done that, he sent them flying at Nim with a flourish of his hand, but before they could reach her, they crumbled and formed a layer of powder on the gym floor. Oops. Maybe he should've been closer.

"Whoa! You can write in the air?! That's amazing!" Nevermind that it had missed, or that all he'd written were hours of operation. It was still cool.

She was so pumped about his totally cool powers that she forgot to attack.

"Your cloud thing is cooler! It's like being able to control the weather!" Quillan shouted to her. He tried to attack but he slipped on something. At first, he thought it might've been the water from the cloud but then he remembered there hadn't been a single drop and the floor was completely dry. Yes, Quillan had apparently tripped over himself.

"Well yeah! I'm a storm mage. That's what we do!" She laughed as he tripped and felt, but when she went to help him up she tripped as well and fell on top of him.

She let out an oof! as she landed and rolled off to the side. "Whoops."

Quillan finally landed a hit on on Nim! Although it really shouldn't count as a hit because he had been trying to get up when Nim had fell only to trip over Nim's ankle. "Do you want to stop sparring? I don't think I can continue any longer ..."

Nim groaned and rolled over, pulling her ankle underneath her now that it was aching from his clumsiness. "Yes, yes I do," she agreed readily. "Is that lame? It seems kind of lame, but we kind of suck at this."

She sat up, rubbing at all the places that already felt like they were going to bruise. "Maybe we should just go back to doing classes."
