"I have my own reasons and they are none of your business!" Her voice still held the terrible reverberation though for the moment she seemed done with her foreign growling. Her stubbornness and misplaced confidence would inevitably be her downfall.

Xaejil wasn't quick enough, or was perhaps not as vigilant as she should have been. The next fired shot snagged her easily. She was the perfect shape to be caught, like an angry writhing hot air balloon swiftly pulled to the ground.

"Oh, no you ******** don't," Evan growled. He had his orders, he had his target, and he wasn't going to let the monster get away that easily. He hooked the long canine tooth of his weapon over its shoulder and used it to yank it away from Lex.

Ami grinned maliciously as the net was landed. She approached the eyeball and put a single, thin necklace around the creature's neck. On the necklace was a stone with a reddish rune carved into it, pulsing lightly. "Sleep," Ami ordered.

With the creature now knocked out, Ami told Lex, "Take her back to the lab. We'll meet you there." It was an order, not a suggestion.

Finally, she turned to Shun, splitting her staff in half. She whirled, striking Shun suddenly and sporadically. They had to deal with this one first.

Lex would have jumped in on the fight, but his given mission was more important to the task at hand. Get this filthy demon to the chamber with the rest of the subjects. Evan and Ami could easily take care of their assailant. Hell, Ami alone could take him - but he felt better knowing Evan was there to dish out additional damage.

Not saying a word, Lex grasped his pendant and whispered "Deus Ex Machina" while holding on tight to the caught Demon.

"And now you've gotten yourself ******** snagged, you idiot," Shun grumbled under his breath. The demon was down now, and he had there hunters on his case. As much as he'd like to stab the sun hunter in the face, the one that had netted the demon was a priority. But he was too late. The hunter said those damned worse and his pendant activated.

The reaper cursed lowly.

Well, nothing was stopping him from trying to stab Evan in the face now.

Nothing except Evan being unwilling to just stand there and take being stabbed in the face, of course. He raised his weapon to swat the creature's away, and it was just enough, just enough; the runes on his blade flared and glowed a deep, angry red, light bleeding from them to drip down the sharp teeth.

His initial strike had been parried, but Shun was quick to follow up with another attack on the hunter. The reaper slashed upwards with one blade, and it was around then that one of his rings began to emit small wisps of black smoke.

The black smoke soon consumed his blades before he began to shadowstep around Evan in rapid succession. Each time he popped back into existence, he struck at the hunter, slashing and stabbing at the guy from all angles to try and keep him guessing for where he'd hit next.

After numerous strikes like this, he landed a short distance away from the two remaining hunters, staring them both down. He had failed to help the demon, so there wasn't much of a point in sticking around.

Except, he didn't really want to pass up a chance at potentially doing some harm, here, against those who were most certainly not on his side.

Seeing as the demon was successfully bagged, Ami let out a small sigh. At the very least if she died, her research could continue. That was really all she cared about- death had ceased having consequence for quite some time.

"It is more advantageous to run, you know," Ami taunted. "You are outnumbered." Her staff clicked back together to its full form, and she used it with expertise to knock Shun off his balance. Not onto the ground, of course. She was still a wimp who didn't have nearly enough strength for something like that. Just enough to attempt to break his stance, which was (admittedly) quite good.

The monster's constant barrage of attacks stung, but did more to bolster Evan's rage even as they drained his Fear shield. He spun fruitlessly as he tried to keep track of it, his blade glowing and eager, and finally saw his chance as Ami knocked it ever so slightly off balance. Gir snarled and snapped and howled as Evan lashed out at the juncture of the creature's neck and shoulder on its sighted side, hoping that the resulting explosion of Fear fragments would blind that eye, too. It brought him close to the edge of his endurance, but the satisfaction of connecting was well worth it.

"I'm well aware."

It was all he had to say to the hunter before he was knocked back from her spear strike. Soon after that, he had taken a stronger blow from the sun hunter. Shun had made a strike in turn, but his attack came short as he found himself staggering away. Letting out a slow breath, he took a few steps back, eyeing the two of them.

Yes, he knew it was advantageous to run. But he stayed put for the time being. These were those who were a threat to his own. If he could kill one, that'd be less of them to deal with later on.

Ami desummoned her staff and merely watched for a moment or two. Evan was being very, very disappointing at the moment. It was a pity- she really thought he could have done better.

That was what she got for putting even an ounce of faith in someone. Junpei was resummoned and she used him to intercept one of Shun's daggers.

Ami's aid, such as it was, was dimly noted somewhere in the back of Evan's mind as good pack behavior. Together, they could run their prey into the ground, maybe play with it a little before they ripped its throat out with sharp teeth and claws. It was a sound strategy, tried and true, but Evan was getting tired and this bit of prey didn't seem to know its place. Still, he found an opening and pressed his attack; "quit" was not a word that existed in his vocabulary.

Shun grunted lightly as Evan struck him again. He was beginning to wear down here as well. Pretty soon, he was going to need to make a retreat of sorts. He could see that he wouldn't be able to take down both hunters, not when the female was still rather fresh for the fight. The reaper made a light strike, then backed up a bit.

She then lunged forward, and in a single movement she plunged her spear into Shun's body. It was over.
