[Automated Exam] (Nim and Quillan)

The new room was probably a really fancy library once. Now it was covered in spider webs and generally dusty and musty smelling.

Nim took a few books off the shelves as she walked, but she didn't really pay much attention to them.

Quillan continued barging through doors, trying to find a hint of which door Nim had gone through. If only he had been paying attention! He opened another door, and once again found himself at the chocolate vat again. Yum. He probably needed a better system or the ink demon would be going through the same doors over and over again for the rest of eternity.

Nim pulled a popular kids book off the shelf and grinned at it. "Hey Quillan, did you read this as a kid?" She turned, holding up the book, but he wasn't behind her like she'd thought he'd been.

"... Quillan?"

Foot stuck on the floor again (someone really should clean the floor), he stumbled in through one of the doors. "Found you!" Quillan shouted, grinning, as he saw Nim in the library.

She was just pulling random books off the shelf at the point. She wasn't really sure what else she was supposed to do.

She'd just pulled three books off the shelf when she heard Quillan's voice. "There you are!" Another noise sounded to her left, though, and a heavy door swung open. "And there's the door! Come on, this way!"

Quillan was itching to read the books in the library - there were so many of them! - or at least, see which ones they had that he hadn't read yet, but Nim had somehow made it through to the next room, and he didn't want to be left behind again, so he gave a short "COMING" and quickly ran after her before the door could close.

The next room was a grungy looking bedroom with only one door on the opposite wall. The first thing Nim did was bypass all the furniture and decorations to try the knob. It rattled, but didn't turn.

"It's locked," she pouted.

Quillan made his way over to the knob as well, and tried giving it a rattle. No dice. "We're going to have to pick it I guess ... " He turned to Nim and asked her, "Have you ever picked a lock before?"

"Nope," Nim said, popping the p. "I've seen it in movies, though! you just need something small enough to pick it, like a hairpin! Luckily, I have those." She pulled one out of her hair, and the leaned down to pick one out of Cirrus's hair for Quillan to use.

Cirrus had totally been there the whole time. Silently.

Quillan took the hairpin from Nim and jammed it into the key hole. After trying a whole bunch of different things, it seemed the door finally opened. He turned the knob and attempted to get the hairpin out, but it was pretty much stuck in there. Whoops, it didn't seem like he would be able to return it to Nim for her to reuse. "Sorry about that! " He was referring to the pin jammed into the door.

"But at least we've finally made it!"

Nim cheered as the door opened. Freedom! Except, she couldn't leave well enough alone, and she tugged on the hairpin, trying to get it out of the door.

The good news was, the pin came out. The bad news was the door slammed closed when she tugged.

She tried to turn the handle and it rattled again, locked.

"Noooo."

Luckily when she jammed the misshapen hairpin back into the door, it clicked unlocked and let her push it open.

She didn't try to pull it out again, jsut ushered Cirrus through the door and clung to Quillan's elbow. "I was almost locked in there forever!"

Quillan felt a rush of relief when he saw Nim and Cirrus emerging from behind the door. He'd been worried that there wouldn't be any way for them to get out after the door had accidentally closed.

He was about to offer some words of comfort to Nim, when he heard a rustling from above. Looking up, he saw an unfamiliar face (the only person he knew with an eyepatch was Shun, and that DEFINITELY wasn't Shun...), who tossed both him and Nim a piece of paper. He turned to the reaper and said excitedly, "Did you hear that? We're Knobs now!"

She had to unroll the paper and read it before she believed it. Then, she bounced around excitedly. "We did it! Wediditwediditwedidit!" She shook his shoulders like he somehow hadn't understood. "We're knoooooooooooooobs!"

"We have to go tell everyone."

Quillan whipped out his phone and started sending a message to everyone he knew, including Nim. He didn't realize it until after he'd hit send ... whoops.

"Now what do we do?"
