The ax provided Oliver with an excellent shield, though Alex pressed forward, grunting with the effort, following the hunter to the floor but taking a swing to his shoulder that left him toppling to the side, rolling, but not before his skeletal hand shot out and grabbed for the young mans upper arm, and tightening around it, squeezing with his death grip while attempting to maneuver himself back up by rolling onto his side and getting back to his knees.

Oliver clenched his teeth, the grasp on his arm was strong enough to be painful, and if he didn't do something, he would certainly die at this rate! How often did anyone survive a zombie attack once they hit the ground? From what he could tell, relying on Finn to be 'that person who saves the day' was a no go. Not in this haunted house.

The kid reached out, not to try and pry the fingers off his arm, but to grab the axe with his wrong hand. It's aim would have been bad had he been any farther away. It was impossible to miss the zombie at such close range!

And back down Alex went, the weapon that was being wielded against him proving to be incredibly difficult to attack around. Still, his grip on the hunter remained firm, and tightened even more. The chances of him actually breaking Oliver's arm at this rate were not high, not with the shield in place at least, but if the young man's shield had been down, certainly there would have been an audible crack, that grip that had been so deadly to one hunter once before.

Once more, he rolled up onto his side, attempting to get his second hand in place to pin the hunter down, stained teeth still bared, always bared, always a threat, one that now loomed just overhead.

His opponent was too close, it was hard to get a good swing in. Oliver tried, but the blow was almost inconsequential. The hand clenched around his arm was so painful, and it was that pain his growing panic focused on. The attempt to attack back was forgotten in favour of clawing at the hand, trying to dislodge it so he could get away.

Like a little animal in a trap, Oliver was running out of options.

"Finn!" He yelped desperately, terrified tears beginning to gather in the corners of his eyes.

The fingers that scrabbled at his skeletal hand were of little consequence. They might have bent back a digit or two, dislocating joints that could easily be popped back into place later. The grip remained, and now his other hand had found an area to grip as well, holding the other arm down, pressing down against him with a strength that was likely surprising considering the lack of any kind of muscle definition at all that the zomboil possessed. Hot, rotting breath hissed out from parted lips and teeth as he hovered nearer, ignoring the tears, ignoring the plea for help to come from the hunter that had disappeared, the House having apparently done Alexander a favor as it had once before.

There was little point to saying anything. The young man was terrified, and Alex drank that Fear in, a heady feeling overcoming him seconds before his head darted down, and teeth sank into the flesh between the base of Oliver's neck and his shoulder, clamping down tight, pulling, breaking through that Fear shield at last and tasting, tasting blood, a scent that mingled in the air with the Fear, a crimson smear against his chin, a red wash against his teeth.

-------------

Finn had been hurrying along. He knew when Oliver hadn't answered his text that something serious was likely occurring. Unfortunately, he appeared to be at the House's mercy, unable to find the young man that he had spent these last moments searching for.

But then, he heard noises. Then he could hear, he was sure of it, his own name whimpered out, carried across the air.

He began to pick up the pace, jogging towards where he thought he could hear the sounds, his weapon drawn.

Oliver had not yet faced anything as terrifying as the cracking of his shield breaking, the immovable grip that held him down, and the sharp pain of teeth tearing into the skin and muscle at his neck. He was going to die. This was it, there was no coming back from this, but even as his weapon dissipated in his hands he was too terrified to stop fighting.

The last of his dwindling strength was used up trying to pull away from the creature at his neck.

Alexander was far from sated, but he knew better than to consume the flesh, or blood, of a human, even those so monstrous as a hunters. It was just a taste, nothing swallowed, just a stain on his tongue and teeth and chin before he was pulling away, dead eyes shining in the dim light of the hallway as he watched the hunter attempt to wiggle away.

And then, something new caught his attention, something he had missed in his lust to sink his teeth into something soft and palpable, in his desire to feel his teeth scrape against bone, in his need to detect a crimson pulse with his tonge as it pumped free of the hunters body. It was a sound, one that approached rapidly. It was booted heels that clopped against a wooden floor. It was the whooshing sound of displaced air as something came swinging towards his head....

----

He came around the corner in time to witness a horrific sight, but he knew better than to shout out, to announce his presence to what was making itself quite obviously known to be a hostile creature. It wasn't a horsemen, that much he thought was clear. In fact, he would hazard a guess that this was, in fact, a zombie that he saw bent over his friend, with blood staining it's face and a wild glint in it's eyes. He had never seen one before, not like this, not outside of films and television.

He hadn't been a fan then, he definitely wasn't one now.

Finn didn't hesitate. He continued his jog, which became a flat out run, his weapon held at the ready, shifting, hands sliding low on the pole of the weapon before he swung it's scythe like blade towards the monsters head, shifting it so the flat of the blade would crack into the side of the zombies head and hopefully dislodge him from his perch.

The maneuver seemed to have succeeded, the creature appearing startled for just a moment before it was sent sliding across the floor and into the nearest wall.

Finn slid to a stop next to the body (no, he was alive, he thought, there was a lot of blood but he was alive). Reaching into the front of his shirt, he pulled out the pendant, grabbed the young man, and ported out without a seconds thought.
