[PRP 1 v 1] For the Love of a Bet (Ahm & Merry)

There was a lazy snicker from one of the higher benches in the bleachers off to the sides, on which a bundle of ragged robes perched, eyes gleaming with amusement from the depths of the hood. How long had Nahm been there? No way to know. "Watch it," he called down, "or not, seeing's how that's the problem, eh?"  

[Syrie]

Ahm enjoyed the feel of her hands on his cheeks and straightened...at least, mostly. He was getting a face-full of feathers just as he heard a rather familiar snickering.

"Shove off, she's got the most distracting....everything."

But Nahm's heckling apparently did some good, because Ahm took a swipe at Merry and dealt her a glancing blow to one shoulder - still careful to not harm her wings.

Nahm laughed harder. "You can do better than that!" he taunted cheerfully, aiming the comment at both fighters.  

[Syrie]

Distracted again and still smarting from her gut-shot, Ahm over-extended his reach and flubbed what would have been a swat to Merry's delightful behind.

"You can come right on down, any time." Ahm shot the comment right back at his brother then grinned at Merry, "He's right you know. It's like you don't wanna win..." Totally ignoring the fact that he was doing just as poorly - if not worse - and that he didn't really want to win.

"I like the view from here," Nahm snickered.  

[Syrie]

Ahm rolled his eyes and growled; this was getting ridiculous, it really was. He was better than this swat-and-miss session...and he knew that Merry was too. They had been playacting, mostly, but it seemed they were finally willing to settle in.

Merry looked lovely in high color, but the elder grue pushed that thought aside and mentally did some calculations. His lips pulled into a feral curve, light glinting off his teeth as he lunged at her, hoping to tackle the pretty ghoul to the mat or at least knock the wind from her by a blow to the midsection.

DMG: SCREW OFF, ROLLS. WE DO THIS MY WAY NOW

There was an instant in which Ahm did not pause, but his stance changed subtly, and the glint from his teeth told Nahm that his brother had decided to get serious. He hummed with satisfaction and settled down to watch a proper fight, pleased to see that Merry caught onto the change just as fast and was just as willing to fight back. Not that he'd expected otherwise.

Ahm went flying when launched but tucked himself into a ball and rolled onto his feet as he hit the mat, tail lashing as he braced himself for the chimera's tackle and went sliding backwards several feet before managing to halt her progress. She was tough and strong and he was inordinately pleased at her response. With his arms half around the chimera, Ahm grappled inelegantly with her, trying to get one of his legs hooked around one of hers so he could drop her again and using his tail for extra balance and the occasional thwack to her legs. Or butt. Because he couldn't stop being a dumb flirt, even in a fight.

Merry was light on her feet, dangerous like that and the grue knew the most effective means of neutralizing the ghoul was to keep her down.

This was still a fair fight, relatively. Nahm watched with interest, and waited, grinning, to see who was going to think to yell for backup first.
