Bast strolled through the crowd calmly, arms folded with her hands in her sleeves. The population density was much lower here than in Takumi, but much friendlier. Everyone seemed to be having fun at this festival, as opposed to the confrontational attitudes that dominated the merchant city.

The crowd spat the woman out at a small booth with a string-pulling game. Bast remembered when she had first encountered this sort of game: when she was younger, she had encountered a similar game run by some traveling merchants while she was on a trip to one of the shrines in the Fire Country. She'd had rotten luck then, but perhaps this time would go better. After glancing at the price, she passed 20 Ryou to the girl running the game and pulled a string...

"I'm sorry! You didn't get anything! ...you wanna go again?" the cute little girl behind the counter told Bast.

Bast checked the sign, then feigned a worried check into her purse before plopping down another 20 Ryou. This was how these games usually went for her; she just had no luck at all. Without really thinking or aiming, she plucked up another string...

"Yay! You got the grand prize!" The little girl clapped and did a little happy dance while handing over a small bag. Bast peeked inside warily, then let out a short and happy laugh. When she was finished, she handed the girl another 20 Ryou and pulled another string at random, curious to see what the other prizes were.

"Ten Ryou, huh?" Bast chuckled as she plopped her second prize into the same bag as her first. She thanked the girl and headed back out into the crowd, holding onto her winnings tightly, as they were some of the only things she had ever won at a festival. She meandered past various food stands that were starting to see considerable patronage as the day moved toward noon, and off to a rather large entertainment area off in the distance.
