[Pelagion: Outside 4/4]

It was nearing the end of the time allotted for his passport, and Pelagion knew better than to let that run out on him. He started back towards where the portal was supposed to be, staring - almost longingly - at the humans as he did so. He'd actually liked watching them and walking among them. They weren't halloweeners, but there was something he liked about them, something he wanted to keep safe, something... innocent? It was an odd word to use - he knew they had their flaws and wars and things like that, and he knew they probably could be just as shitty as anybody else, but still... He liked them.

He stopped to observe three young humans peering into a stream, holding older-style lamps. Of course, he was curious - how could he not be - so he walked over to them and loomed, listening.

"You see anything?" one said, after a minute.

"No..." another sighed, "Not a thing."

It took Pelagion a moment to realize that they were all female.

"This was stupid." one said, setting her lamp down, "Why would we even want to see our future husband anyway? Its not like we're getting married soon."

"Speak for yourself - I want a husband right out of high school!"

"Why? I mean, don't you want..."

"A high stress high paying office job? Ha, no. I'll do something I want to do, thanks."

"I'm going to be a doctor."

"Good luck!"

They left, laughing, with their lanterns, leaving Pelagion to stare into the stream alone. "Huh." he said to himself... So the humans wanted to see their future mate, and were using lanterns to scry it? He thought that was interesting - especially where the superstition appeared to be falling apart. It seemed they didn't want to see what they were looking for.

Well, whatever they wanted, he hoped they'd get it...

[Pelagion - End]

Pelagion returned to his dorm and laid out on his bed, thinking hard about the trip he'd made to the human world. Of course, he hadn't bothered with the silly report - he was all for doing more work to satisfy his curiosity, but not THAT much work. He wasn't THAT dedicated.

Though... he was intrigued. Humans seemed to have very interesting thoughts and ideas and things they believed in... but only halfway. They played with the supernatural... but they had no idea what FEAR was. They were so naive - yes, that was the perfect word, Naive.

He stroked his boafox thoughtfully.

Well, that was that. He wanted to protect them, so clearly he'd actually have to attend a few relevant classes and actually pay attention... Eh, well. Such were things.

[Kamakura: Start]

A trip to the human world? Kamakura had wanted to go the moment he'd learned of Professor Winter's course. In fact the cat boil had been extremely thrilled, and raced to sign up the moment it was allowed. The fact it was also to be held on Halloween night it's self made this visit that much more exciting. Going back to the Human World had it's reservations as last time he'd been pushed towards a portal after overhearing in the town center square next to the ooey gooey green fountain.

Naturally he wanted to go back, as this time it would be a school function, and a chance to explore it a bit more perhaps in a less dangerous environment. Plus it would be in the spirit of celebrating Fear, and maybe a chance to give a good scare or two would be on the agenda for the evening. After dressing, having a morning meal and several things of candy Kama made his way down to meet with the professor and sign the given paperwork required of him. Thankfully these were not demon contracts, so he signed them without fuss.

With a bubbling of excitement, he was told he was going to observe humans. Those strange useless sacks of potatoes wouldn't be sleeping like the one he'd cared for evidently. He also had to look for strange occurrences called superstitions apparently as well. He'd do what he could the demon promised although he was a bit confused what that actually would entail.

[Kamakura: 1/4 Visiting a Home]

Once he was given the passport to allow an underage student into the Human World, (even if it was heavily conditional) he was told to go on his way. Swallowing nervously the nekomata nodded his head. He stepped through the portal then, and soon found himself transported to some seemingly random town. There were tons of lights, and people moving about several blocks down. Children scurried about, followed by their parents all dressed in different manner.

A curiosity filled Kama as he walked about, observing the different behaviors and interactions of the humans. They were such odd creatures he had to admit. A small smile crossed the demons face as he wandered, before approaching a home of some sort. It seemed fairly average, and normal. However he'd never been inside a real Human Dwelling. The chance to explore one seemed all too tempting, so instead of just wanting to do it, the demon decided to make his way inside. Using the guise of his animal form, he changed in a dim glimmer of light as his smaller self as he darted forward.

Slipping in via an open window, the feline crawled inside. Landing with a soft thud, his feet padded against the wooden floors. As he moved along, there was a sudden creaking noise under his feet. It was unnerving, given how very quiet it had been inside this house. The sudden sound disturbance made him hiss softly as he moved along, ears laid back as he went along.

[Kamakura: 2/4 Visiting a Home]

Moving through the house, and at some point he came across someone who began to try and talk to him. The demon's feline eyes blinked as he stood up on his hind legs and regarded the other curiously. Narrowing his eyes on the other he squirmed a bit uncomfortably as they noted the fact he was born in Halloween...and then seemed to correct themselves and said 'on' for some reason. Staring quizzically at the other, he nodded. "Uh yea, I'm from Halloween.." He started to say, but realized he felt uneasy and quickly backed off and got to walking again.

He didn't want to linger, and he was quick to leave before the conversation got too deep, or the other began asking anymore personal questions.

[Kamakura: 3/4 Visiting a Home]

After the encounter from before, Kamakura was uneasy. He found someone offering up of all things free candy. Instead of going for some of his own, he simply watched the human give out the goods. The cat boil reasoned it was good to observe human's in their natural habitat handing out an item he could actually recognize as something candy-like. Although he somehow doubted it was a Fear treat, or anything he'd find appetizing. Plus he had plenty of his own back at his dorm. He was't even sure if he could eat human candy.

On top of that, Kamakura didn't want to get in trouble. So he remained in his little seated perch before deciding it was time to move along.

[Kamakura: 4/4 Visiting a Home - End]

The last occurrence was the easiest to spot based on the Professors description of strange superstitious behavior. The repetitive behavior of a human walking around this dwelling three times, in a backwards counterclockwise motion was utterly fascinating to the demon. The number three was one he was most fond of, and to see the human behaving in patterns surrounding these numbers was visually pleasing. They even knocked on a nearby piece of wood. It was so..different.

However, just like that time flew by as he was seemingly enjoying himself. He was soon being called back to the portal, and his time in the Human World came to an end. It had been pleasant mostly despite a few unnerving moments. While he didn't submit a report on his feelings and findings, he did take away with him a few lessons which he thanked Professor Winters for allowing him the opportunity to visit and learn a thing or two about the world of humans.

Trisha showed up for class. This was different. This was unique. she thought going to the human world was a splendid idea. She hand't been since she had saved her human.

She wondered how her human was. She wouldn't likely see her here. Trisha showed up on the appointed day, fully decked out in ribbons galore.

She glanced over the not contract and just signed it. Ok. She would follow the rules. no big.

They were learning about superstitions. Interesting. Ok let's go. She twitched on her feet. Near by was another student and Trisha drifted closer to them. "are you ready?"

Kane on the other hand wasn't really sure what he was doing in that class that morning. The idea of visiting the human world seemed more like a chore than anything else, but he grudgingly signed whatever paperwork was given to him and sort of listened to the explanation about the assignment that they were being given. Honestly he hadn't been the biggest fan of the whole ordeal and having to save his human, not to mention that last encounter...

He shuddered at the idea of getting shot at. Again.

And all to learn about superstitions? He wasn't sure it was worth it, but before he could slink away someone had approached him and posed a question that made his eye twitch.

"Maybe," he grumbled with the slightest hint of a snarl. They were getting awfully close so he subtly scooted about two inches away. Maintain distance, maintain distance.

[Going inside]

Oh were they shy? Were they having a bad day? Trisha put on her best smile for the odd critter.

"Sounds close enough. come lets go together." she stepped though the portal thing and sort of maybe grabbed onto Kane's hand. "I'm Trisha by the way. oh isn't this a lovely place!" she chipped and chattered alone. She always hated being alone but now she had a friend. "It's pretty weird to think the humans can't see us isn't it? she whispered and giggled.

"Oh I've never been in one of their houses before. Let's go." Trisha headed straight up to the house without shame with a flutter of her skirt.

Going Inside

No, he wasn't shy. He liked his personal space bubble and rarely enjoyed it being invaded so...

No.

Was she...was she holding his hand?! Kane face contorted into one of pure displeasure but, again, before he could protest the ghoul was tugging him along, through a portal and, once they were through, through foreign streets of the strangest kind. To the Skinwalker boil there was nothing "lovely" about the place in its entirety. Not the humans. Not their scarelings. Not their attempts at decorations.

Were these fake pumpkins?! Where was he?!

He would have rather reappeared in that strange place where he'd saved that human. At least it wasn't quite as strange and atrocious as all this. He was so distracted by it all that he forgot all about the fact that Trisha was still tugging him along. He was just kind of staring at everything they passed until they finally entered a house.

Kane honestly thought it couldn't get worse. He was wrong.

"Oh isn't this all so interesting?" she whispered excitedly. "oh look they are carving pumpkins." Trisha trotted off to go investigated the carving. it seemed a lot like home. Where they decorating? She had to approve. Definitely all the approval.

They even let the little ones handle dangerous looking knives while doing it. wa this some sort of gutting ritual. "Do you think they are practicing killing?" she whispered to Kane. Wait where did he go?

When Kane finally came to he pulled his hand away from the ghoul and shoved it into his pocket. The other one as well; it was the best way to keep himself as small as possible so he didn't touch anything while they were inside. The home was so strange, brighter than what he was used to despite their attempt at decorating it like good old Halloween. The teen meandered about the home, observing its strange inhabitants. He lost track of Trisha at one point, following after a human as it walked around their home in sets of threes, first clockwise then counterclockwise, and then they stopped to knock on wood.

How weird...

Kane made a face and turned back, catching sight of Trisha and despite how she managed to invade his bubble earlier she was the only familiar being in that room so he approached her and caught the end of her question.

"I honestly wouldn't be surprised, these humans seem to have lost their minds," he said clearly disapprovingly.

"Oh there you are." Trisha whispered grinning. "I don't think so they are just mimicking us. Oh look those ones are giving out candy. it really is like home. My herd would give out candy like that on true Halloween sometimes. and all the calfs and cubs would dress up as other Halloween creatures and sometimes even humans. It was always a lot of fun." she reminisced.

"what about you have you been doing anything this year?" she stuck a little closer to him, towering over the humans. They were so tiny. She was careful not to bump into them.

"So should we be flattered? Can't they come up with their own holidays?"

Obviously he wasn't a fan, but at least these humans weren't touching or harassing him on a more personal level. A sidelong glance earned him a curious glance at one of the other humans, slightly taller than the scareling-sized ones and knocking on the wall in a curious manner. He nudged Trisha with his elbow to show her, then knocked on the wall as well, in a mocking sort of fashion.

Kane was even a little pleased with himself until he heard the human mumble something about "knocks of death" and he stared on blankly. "They're strange, see?! I've never heard of knocks of death, have you?"

His questions were more rhetorical than anything, and after a huff he shrugged at her question. "Nothing really. My parents give candie to the scarelings that pass through. I stayed in my room." He leaned a little away from her but was careful not to touch any of the little humans. He made a face as one passed so close to him.

"This year isn't any different. How 'bout you?"

Quote:
7: The human is talking about knocking on a wall - but hey, why not, right? So you knock three times. Three is a nice number. Except now the human is talking about 'knocks of death' …oops?
