Shiki had really no intention of going to class. He had happened to be chasing around some foxfires near the school entrance when he noticed several others gathered. There was a cat, and his eyes widened as he took it in. A soft fluffy cat, he had wanted to pet it and cuddle it and... Oh his heart was warmed at the sight and he shifted to his rather fluffy Kitsune form, tail fluffed up, large ears perked. He snuck past his friend Camilla, and headed right for the cheshire that was close.

Shiki noticed several tools and he made little eyes and a mouth appear on a green glove near the cheshire and dormouse. "Help me..." It said cutely. A nice distraction so he could sneak up and pounce on the kitty tail and nuzzle it. He landed partly on a root ripper but ignored it in favor of the nuzzles to the soft tail.

The banshee drifted along heading to the class. She sat down elegantly as she waited for class to start. Off to the side she noted her friends, but they seemed caught up in meeting each other again after a parting of sorts. Instead she smiled and watched. She lifted a pair of blue gloves and a shovel and set them in her lap watching intently.

Camilla couldn't help but laugh a bit as a glove fell on her friend's face in his excitement. And then, suddenly, she had an arm full of Cheshire cat as she was sent sprawling back! Tools went flying, and the cat boil's glove landed on her face! "Hah hah!" she laughs joyfully at the greeting! Being pounce could be fun actually! As long as it didn't involve claws... and teeth.

The loud greeting in her sensitive ears made her flinch slightly, but otherwise a large smile remained on her face. Strangely, what he said almost made perfect sense to her. Almost. Maybe, it was the fact that she too had a distant relation to Wonderland and it's world of madness. Either way, it had her smiling broadening as she nods. " A wonderful day to you to!" she chirps as her tail thumps against the ground happily.

Having cat minis had taught her some of the basics about cats and encouraged her to learn more. One of the many things she did over her winter imprisonment was learn more about cats and other predators so she could be better prepared. Face rubbing not only showed they were "claiming" you as theirs, but it was a high sign of affection. (Least in most cat species. Camilla wasn't entirely sure Cheshire cats worked the same way.) One Camilla returned with a small nuzzle of her own. Even though it was not common for a mouse to do so. Dormice Monsters were worldly mice and learning the customs of others was important due to their trade and commerce based society.

Plus, Camilla was just curious.

Distracted by her blue and black friend, Camilla almost didn't notice another fluffy predatory friend sneak by. But she did, it just wasn't until he pounced her other friends fluffy tail! "Shiki! Hi Shiki" she calls as she tries not to yell in the cat boil's ear! She tried to reach out her tail to tap him, but it was kinda pinned beneath her. In fact, oh... The shovel was there too... Ow... Oh well! Camilla had been so distracted by her friend, she didn't notice she was now laying on her shovel. She was too happy to see her friends after the winter to really care though.

Soon, a familiar flash of grey caught her eye. Turning her head slightly she soon spots another friend! "Hi Keen!" She calls out excitedly, once again not trying to yell in Carlos' ear, while smiling gleefully! Seems like gardening brought all her friends to the yard.

It was surprising just how much this boil could eat in one go, and still want more. Not that Sludge couldn't appreciate gouging himself on food, it was just he rarely got the opportunity to.

The sudden gift of jerky was accepted gratefully with a nod of his head, the monster taking a large bite of the strange food. But it tasted good, so he didn't care, and the jerky was quickly eaten.

He then looked at Sacha's pockets, noticing how big they looked, and wondered if he had any more jerky stashed away.

Kari gave a deep yawn as she plodded towards the school entrance where a small group of boils and ghouls were gathering. While the prospect of rising early for a class didn't quite appeal to the reaper's late-night nature, the extra credit certainly did. Especially considering she had become fairly lax in her lessons. Some gardening would be just the thing to jump start her motivation. It would also give her a bit more experience with greenery, something her fire affinity didn't always mix well with.

Ducking into a spot where she could see through the crowd, she spotted what she could only assume was the teacher... wearing black gardening clothes. Huh. She quirked an eyebrow, but shrugged it off a moment later. She had seen worse, she was sure, even if she couldn't bring up a moment on the spot. Looking at her own clothes, she wondered if she should have worn something a bit different, but tried not to dwell too much on the thought as the teacher began their instructions.

After hearing the instructions, Kari looked over the tools. A hand rake, a root ripper, and shovel... at first glance, the shovel seemed the obvious choice. But there were niche uses for the other tools as well that weren't fulfilled by the shovel alone. After what would probably be considered by anyone else as far too much deliberation, she settled on the hand rake, since it was a bit more general use than the root ripper. Her choice in gloves wasn't very difficult, settling on a pair of blue gloves that matched quite nicely with her scarf.

Looking up with her rake and blue gloves in hand, she noticed a few familiar faces, the prominent ones being Camilla, a cheery mouse ghoul, and... the goofy cat boil she had taken her 2nd year exam with... Carlos! That was the name! She hadn't seen him in a while, so it wasn't too surprising that it took a moment to recall the name.

"Camilla, Carlos... you two are taking this class as well?," Kari inquired as she jogged up to the pair.

What the hell was he even doing here.

Well, no that was an easy answer - Elly needed to actually do some classes and mingle with students that weren't Sacha or whomever wanted to trade out items with him. What was the harder question was, what the hell was a dog made of lava standing around a class that consisted of 'planting' and 'weeding'. Odds are he was going to burn something down. Hopefully it wasn't something big, or needed.

Clearing his throat a little, he sidled up to the small amout of tools and gloves, taking a pair as red as he could find, and a hoe (the mighty hoe should not be looked down upon,) he found himself slinking next to the small demon. The one who was procuring meat out of his pockets.

He knew Sacha long enough to know that this was not abnormal.

Grumbling as the light got brighter, Darcy pulled the hat tighter to his head, doing his very best to not look so upset at the thing called the pumpkin sun, (it was a good try, though it ultimately was failing).
"Alright." He said, voice low with fatigue.
"Glad you all seem to be... well. Today we will be weeding the school gardens. Apparently it's part of a new healthy lifestyle the school is supposed to promote, though I would think your educational time would be better spent in a class room than in mud. However-" He began the walk to the gardens, moving quickly and very artfully walking in every shaded spot that was along the path.

"-The school feels you all should learn how to reap what you sow in a very literal way. And as some students saw fit to plant Snapdragons we must take care to remove them so the garden itself won't become over run. But being an educator, I am not simply going to let you off with manual labor. No, You will gain some skills, and a gift for taking care of your fellow student's mistakes."
The garden itself looked like one giant bush, caged in my the tall fences and not much else. In it, you could see several flower like heads in vague dragonic shape. But, near the ground, you could see paw prints of what one could only guess were wild minipets that had taken up residence.

"Plants are a part of us. Forests, Vines, Thorns, dead growth, fungi- Plants have always been our unsung ally in the harvesting of FEAR. When no halloweener is there, the trees will still stand. When noen can scare, the thorns still p***k at skin and vines still tangle limbs. They are organic, living beings in the human world that give us an advantage. Plants out or partners. We take care of them, they shall take care of us. Now-"

Opening the gates, the bush that had overtaken the gardens, (this was supposedly sill managable?!?), began to move, vines sliding through branches like tendrils seeking prey.

"Plants give us shadows, they give a sense of things untamed, out of control. Humans are easy frightened by such, and even by simply standing in the branches of a tree you might gain an advantage than simply standing on the ground. Breaking twigs to create a fear of being followed. Sending a tree crashing down in a storm, (though I wouldn't reccomend that often). Nature is the world's way of letting us know fear is natural. But-"
A horrible clicking sound began to rise from the overgrown garden.
"Nature in halloween is simply a mimicry of the human world's flora. It is something we must tame and cultivate. Which is just what you will be doing. Take your tools and rip up the snapdragon. The gloves should help protect you."

He motioned for them to go into the gate, or rather, the foliage. However, the snapdragon seemed to have other plans, a loud roar errupting before a heavy sweet mist covered the area.

"And, that is your cue to fight."

Darcy had vanished.

Astra listened intently to the professor, nodding thoughtfully at the knowledge that was passed to them. She had always held plant life in high esteem, and the chance to learn more about them and gain new abilities was a great one indeed.

The beast of a plant looked a terrifying foe, but Astra wasn't disturbed by the idea of digging it up; she was quite used to carnivorous plants, and had seen plenty in her lifetime. So when the snapdragon began to thrash about she walked closer, flinching at the small cut to her arm but still determined. Her tiny form took to the air then, darting in closer to make a small knick at the flailing tendrils.

Sacha could plainly see the way the other boil was eyeing him (or, more specifically, his bulging pockets) and that simply wouldn't do. He barely had a morsel for himself, he couldn't exactly go around handing out treats left and right.

Even knowing Elly had shown up for class wasn't enough for him to relax. The other boil's gaze made him antsy as the professor talked, and he barely paid attention, absentmindedly chewing on whatever he pulled out of his pockets next.

So he was slightly startled whenever a plant emerged and he realized they were expected to fight it. Still, he could do a lot of damage with a fork, and there was always a chance that he could take some of the plant and make a salad or something of the sort.

He didn't think snapdragon was poisonous, and that was enough for him to charge in and take a swipe.

The stuff the professor was talking about sounded important, but didn't make much sense to Sludge. Although he was used to using his environment to camouflage himself, so he was quite fond of densely forests terrains. Especially if they had sludge in them.

He wasn't fond of the tree lashing out at him though, so he found a new use for his chew toys; smacking the thing.

Camilla was still flat on her back with a arm full of Cheshire cat and a Kitsune snuggling said Cheshire cat's tail, when Kari arrived. Woah! Gardening really did bring all her friends out! Carlos, Keen, Shiki, and now Kari!? "Hi Kari!" Camilla chirps cheerfully before giving the Reaper ghoul a wave. She half expected Mayaa, Uru, Shayne, and Taika to show up, too. It seemed their meeting would have to wait till another day, because soon, the uncomfortable looking teacher decides to start the class.

Smiling, Camilla nods towards the teacher before scratching Carlos behind a ear. "Heh, class has started. We'd better follow him." she laughs happily before sliding her friend off and getting up. She didn't bother to brush the already stained gardening clothes off, but she did rub her back a bit where the shovel was digging in. Looking around, it seemed her other two tools had gotten nicked after she dropped them. Still, she had her shovel, that would likely do.

After transferring the shovel from her tail to her hand, Camilla picks up the sun hat that had fallen off and slides it back on her head before following after the teacher. She had to admit. He did remind her of some of the... "older" mice in Mouseshire. And, his artful means of moving from shadow to shadow did not fail to impress the hyped up Dormouse ghoul. His words did not fall short of her ears either. Listening intently, she nods a few times in agreement, a smile growing on her face as they go. Yes! She'd always held a deep respect for plants! Being from a culture that lived in living tree houses, Camilla understood the value of flora.

However, when they arrived at the "Garden" Camilla found that she was not at all impressed... It... Actually seemed rather sad and wild to be a garden... Soon, the slithering sound of the vines and grunt of a particular plant had her on high alert! She quickly remembered that Halloween flora didn't always... Mirror... Human world flora... Finally, it was the angry, draconic roar that caused the Dormouse ghoul to slide, effortlessly, into a defensive pose. With her shovel held at the ready, much like how one might hold a dagger, Camilla wasn't all that surprised to see a huge, angry, dragon like plant creature.

Camilla had most of the hand to hand aspect of her martial arts training down, and now her Sensei was teaching her how to use weapons. Because of the Knight Dream, she was actually really good with bladed weapons. Though, she found, that the martial arts use of blades differed a good bit from the fencing style she used in the dream. Another thing she had to remember was, while a shovel was sharp, it wasn't SHARP like blade sharp. Her's wasn't at least... So which should she use? her fists, or the shovel to attack? Finally, an idea occurred to her!

Quickly, the shovel was transferred back to the grasp of her tail, and after a few practice swings, she grins before turning back to the angry dragon plant. Sliding back into her battle pose, she waits for a opening. Taking a calming breath, she waits as patently as she could, what with all the excitement buzzing through her. Finally, as the plant turned to attack someone else, it left it's side exposed! Soft black eyes glint for a moment before she lunges in for her attack!

A hard punch was delivered to the plant's side before she takes a step back and whirls around to dig the shovel into the plant! Roaring angrily, the plant lashes out at her before she could move out of the way! Flinching, as she feels the sharp jolt of a vine whipping her exposed back, she quickly takes out to get some distance!

Hey, Camilla might have been shut in her dorm all winter, but that didn't mean she had slacked off in her training!

Shiki released Carlos' tail as he noted that the large snap dragon was starting to attack. He tilted his head and shifted back to his boil form, sliding on the green gloves and lifting the root ripper he had claimed, or rather landed on in his mock attack.

Well it looked like time was up in playing and it was now time to get onto working. He smiled at Camilla and looked around, what should he do, well likely the best thing would be to attack at the base of the monstrosity and see if he can tear up some of the rooting. It would weaken it at least, but to do that he would have to get past the angry head.

It was almost a pity to attack such a nice plant, it was doing a good job keeping some of the mini's safe. Maybe it was just protecting them. Orders were orders though and he had to make his attack.

Unfortunately his strike hit ground and nothing else, the unamused snap dragon took the chance to smack him across the back of the head with a broad leaf sending the kitsune boil rolling.

Thinking quite honestly about if she really wanted to fight or not, Keen watched the others. When it became apparent that if she didn't move in, things would either take forever, or some of her friends could be really badly hurt she moved gracefully into the fray. She first took the time to greet Camilla and give her a little hug, before lifting her shovel.

Hmm, the best move would be to wait for it to be distracted, but that wasn't going so well, it seemed that the darned plant was able to pay attention to all of them at once. With a deep breath she walked forward and took a swing at the plant, aiming at the base. "enough already.."

The snapdragon was highly unamused as it took a bite at Keen's head, making her yelp in shock. Okay this was not what she had planned. She was worse than useless as the plant had managed to get sharp teeth into her. Sliding onto her backside she slid away, her cheeks flushed with shame. This was not good.

Oh great. He honestly should have known something like this was going to happen. He couldn't just go to a normal class where normal things happened. Nope, there was more to this than just simple gardening with an odd professor. Now they were having to fight this strange snapdragon creature on top of everything? For the love of Jack he hated fighting, but what else was he supposed to do in this sort of situation? He couldn't just walk off and leave the rest of the class to fend for themselves. No, he had to pull his hand rake out and swing like there was no tomorrow. He worried about the other students as well as himself though. Were they really prepared to fight something, especially when the professor himself had vanished?? What was that even about? Was he just going to let them handle it on their own with no supervision? That seemed like the worst sort of way to teach a class! How were they supposed to learn anything by simply fighting the snapdragon? The only useful information that had even been said throughout his entire speech was when he was talking about how the plants were their allies when it came to fear. That had been something he hadn't really thought of, but now there really wasn't a point to think about it as much as he wanted to. There was no professor, lots of untrained boils and ghouls, and a monster that needed to be fought off. He needed to get his head on straight and focus. Even if it was more than a bit hard to do. He prided himself in being book smart. That was his strong point. Always had been. Being forced to fight something. Now that was a problem. He was an incredibly weak fighter. Any time a physical challenge of some sort came around he was sure to fail it. He had even been working hard, but still nothing seemed to help how bad he was at fighting. Maybe one of these days he would attempt to take some pointers from Brute....well on second thought that was probably a terrible idea. Knowing the uh, brutish boil, he was sure he would simply tell him to head butt it or ram it in some manner, and that was definitely not the way to handle this situation whatsoever. Sighing, Malik turned to watch everyone else go at the roaring beast. Was it really that simple to just take a swing at it? He didn't think it would be that easy. Even if everyone around seemed to be handling it just fine. They were obviously just doing far too well. They excelled at fighting. That was it. But perhaps if he did try....maybe he could do a little damage to it. He had the hand rake. He had his gloves. He could...weed out the weak. He had to chuckle at his bad pun then, nearly causing himself to get hit by the angry snapdragon. Distractions were not the way to go about doing things and yet here he was still getting distracted and laughing about the silly things he was saying. The slithering vines and roars of the dragon made him nervous. That much was certain. Deciding to take his chance than stand around any longer, he gripped his hand rake firmly in one hand and brought it down on one of the vines squirming around next to his foot. He honestly thought he was going to miss. That was usually what happened after all. Even so, by some miracle he somehow managed to hit the wiggling vine. It didn't do much damage, at least that he could tell, but something was better than doing nothing at all!

Carlos's ear twitched when Camilla yelled at the other students in excitement bub he didn't really seem to mind the yelling. He was excited too.

Carlos waved at Keen with his usual grin and a light in his eyes. He didn't mind her tugging on his tail a bit. He was just happy for the attention.

He also gave a lazy wave to Kari, twisting his head backwards to look at her twisting so far it looked like his head might fall off any moment. that couldn't have been comfortable. Then again Carlos was a ghost so perhaps he was.

Camilla had started scratching his ear. Oh! He let out a soft purr. This was heaven! Best friend was best!

Oh the teacher was talking again. Carlos sort of paid attention, still clinging on his favorite dormouse. He as a cat didn't know a thing about healthy. He didn't care much about that. Or maybe it was the ghost side.

Oh wait, what was that? Carlo's eyes narrowed as he saw the snap dragon moving. He let out a soft mer of discontentment. His ears fall back slightly as the big plant thing began to move. They were going to fight? This seemed like work! Carlos did not want work! He wanted a nice casual relaxing garden party.

Carlos wined and shoved a rake into an illusion arm and wiggled it at the snap dragon thing not at all happy. It did practically nothing, barely touched the plant but the rake did nick it.

Carlos was not happy. A vine smacked him. This was a mean plant. It was not s plant to nest on, and or enjoy the shade. It should stay put!

Carlos dropped to all fours and let out a yowl of annoyance and then he launched, pouncing on one of the vines and took a bit bite right out of it. Stop smacking him! He pined the vine and used his back feet to scratch up the vine.
