Luiciand spotted Careryn and slowly eased his way around to stand next to the other boy. He couldn’t help notice the way that Caderyn’s eyes were drawn to the red egg. On one level Luicand actually hoped the pooor boy was not disappointed, but most of Luciand worried about what would happen if they did become a pair.

“Hey.” He said quietly, or as quietly as he could and still be heard above the hum. “At least we got to sleep before hand, right?” IT could have been at the end of the day, or in the middle of the night. Early morning was ideal really. They were all fresh and able to be attentive and not stupid, right?

Seeing Luiciand moving to stand beside him, Caderyn took his eyes off of the red egg, a slight flush appearing on his cheeks at being caught watching the trouble making egg. He hoped the other would think it was from the heat of the sands.

"Hey." He nodded his head, laughing some. "Yeah. Luckily I haven't been apart of a hatching that happened in the middle of the night." Sleep did make you more alert and there was less chance to be hurt.

Nadry was not especially good at stealth, apparently, because she was quickly noticed - funny, she'd never thought herself very noticable, and it was...nice. She hadn't managed to make any friends so far, not really, but...she would like to have Goran as one, she decided. With five brothers, she had an easier time with boys than with other girls, as long as they weren't charming or dashing or flirty or any other such fluster-causing things, and he hadn't been. He was nice, and he understood.

She smiled at him through her nerves, and at the girl beaide him who motioned her over as well. She took a deep breath and sidled her way closer, and tried to keep her voice level when she spoke, "Hi." Were they as terrified as she was? Not entirely confident about Sands etiquette, but wanting to avoid her faux pas of introduction-forgetting like the other day, she added, "I'm Nadry."

If they were going to stand here on the hot Sands in their ridiculous robes and wait for dragons together and maybe-hopefully-not get mauled together, she figured they should all at least be properly acquainted.

As the humming grew in intensity, a certain excitable egg began, slowly, to rock. It had waited such a very, very long time for this moment... and now that the moment had come, it didn't quite know what to do. Wiggling, egg rocking slowly back and forth, the dragonet within the Wheel of Fortune seemed to be trying to escape its shell. Yet in spite of its efforts, the baby didn't seem able to free itself from the confines of its brightly colored egg. The blue egg with the yellow spots simply trembled in the little wallow its mother had carved out for it, a slight scrabbling noise audible only to those closest by.

Well, at least she was able to talk still. Goran didn't feel like he was able to muster up more than one or two words at a time. Even now, he only grunted at her greeting, though he wasn't trying to be unfriendly. As she introduced herself to Ichta, he felt a small pulse of irritation at himself--he could have spoken up and done as much, but it felt like his belly was full of tunnel snakes...

A sudden scratching sound made him pause, his breath catching as he saw one of the brightly-colored eggs beginning to really rock. The little dragonet hadn't quite managed to free itself though... Was anyone worried? This was normal, right? Goran refused to take his eyes off the shell, not wanting to miss a single moment.

"I'm Ichta," she managed to introduce in turn, the words barely spilling out of her mouth before the first egg began to twitch and roll in the hole that Uridith had safely placed it in.

Her attention turned to the blue-and-yellow egg and her breath caught in her chest as her nerves returned. Oh shells am I not ready... she thought to herself, all of the excited nerves she'd shared with Goran after the touching returning in full force.

“Who do you think will hatch first?” Luiciand watched the various eggs wiggle, and then one of them began to really move about. “Maybe that one?" He indicated the Wheel of Fortune egg. "What color do you guess it will be? Odds say it would be a green to hatch first, but maybe the gold will decide to steal the show." Luiciand was not trying to distract Caderyn. Not at all. The less he focused on the egg, the better, Luicand thought. That way he wouldn’t be too focused to notice what else was going on. Always be aware of your surroundings had been pounded into his head, literally, and it was even more important here.

Vitre

From as high up as they were and as new to hatchings as he was, Vitre didn't notice the first of the eggs really beginning to wobble. His attention had been caught by all the dragons--humming together--that had come flying in with their riders. Greens and browns and bronzes and blues! One, pale blue and cloudy, landed on a nearby ridge and he could make out a dark-haired rider vaulting down. Awesome! A bigger brown had also landed at the mouth of the sands and let off a man who'd gone walking to one side, around into a small alcove. Huh...well, whatever. He grabbed Nebbi by the hand as the candidates came spilling in and the eggs kept rocking. "What do you think will come first? I bet a bronze...it's supposed to be good luck!"

V'mel

V'mel was going to have a long day. Long, but hopefully rewarding. Today, here, the seeds of loyalty and devotion would be sown, planted deep in soil. He could only hope it would be soil of good quality. He moved along the men and women carrying tables and benches and buckets of meat, filing them into the small side cavern that would host the hatchlings as they impressed and until the event was done. Many of the crowd were still gathering, but already he was eyeing the ledges and stands for any of his assistants. They'd be needed soon enough.

Uridith/Lestenna

Behind the eggs, from the candidates' point of view, the golden mother loomed. All her ire of the touching day seemed dispelled now, and she all but glowed with radiant joy and hopeful wonder. Today her babies would come fully into the world. She remembered her own hatching day...The gold leaned her head against Takarath's and sighed, her hum rising as the Wheel egg began to make a bid for freedom. It eventually stilled, and she sent a ripple of gentle encouragement to it. You can do it darling one. Come and see the world... At her side Lestenna reached out to snag V'kenti's arm with hers, not quite pulling him into herself, but closer. This was a day of shared accomplishment for them both. An accomplishment to be proud of hopefully.

Isilje

Isilje couldn't help the near squeal from her as she heard that it was time. She was quick in to her robes, putting a white scarf around her head as a cover, and her tinted goggles around her neck. All of this to help protect fragile features and eyes from the sun. She followed the people on to the sands, her eyes turned on to the eggs with a tiny giggle bubbling up from her throat. With the rest of the candidates, she bowed to the parents and the riders, her eyes drawn to the eggs, and the memories within. Oh, these dear, sweet, precious eggs. They were all so wonderful. She couldn't WAIT to meet whoever was inside. They would find theirs today, and it would be fantastic.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alumet

It was with a strange, almost confident air that she followed the throngs of people. The announcement had been met with a girl taking her time. Ensuring her hair was done up in to a careful coif, her face looking pretty and perfect, her robes straight and cared for, everything in its place, looking pristine and angelic as she walked on to the sands. There was not going to be even a slightly cracked nail today. Her entire air RADIATED pure confidence in herself, and in the situation. No matter what, Alumet was ready and excited. Looking around, she idly wondered where her brother was. Why not stand near Cahlusi if she could find him?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shiloh

She was kind of feeling a bit anxious today. A hatching made her feel as though she was going to be sick to her stomach, but that was her lack of trust in her fellow people. She'd yet to meet someone that proved her wrong...and even coming on to the sands, she stood a bit off to the side. Sure, she had her friends. Sure, she knew people that she could talk with...and sure, she could work with them as a team, but these were still people. Sighing, she affixed her robes, tying copper hair up then and there on the sands, twining it around on her head in to a tight bun, and then rubbing the scar on her cheek. There were the eggs. Bowing with everyone else, she had to stare, hopeful, anxious.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

E'ion

Ah, a hatching. Again, he'd left Araeth back in the weyr, knowing that the Green wouldn't enjoy being around other dragons. Instead, he stood near G'rdel, his eyes on the dragons in front of him and around him. Ah, there was so much to watch. So much to do, though the Candidates all seemed in good humor. He was still idly concerned after the Touching's incident....Hopefully Uridith was feeling better about everything. He would do his best to be as accommodating as he could, "Here we go."

Amila had been preparing for chores when it hasppened. The Hum, the call to the Sands...

Was everyone else ready? She hoped so -- the dragonets would appreciate their future riders at least somewhat prepared, and sher wanted to see how the others fared! And so, Amila was moving out the door rapidly, mentally reminding herself not to get in the way of hatchklings,m to protect herself, and to be ready, but oh! The lovely little ones from the Touching were coming! And she hoped they all were happy, maybne, even got a hug! As Amila rushed onto the Sands, the young Candidate beamed to the eggs, and almost squirmed with excitement for them.

"You all can do it!" The girl cheered, and, shyly, looked to the others.

"A...Ah... Hello."

H'lare didn't dare bring Toth too close to the sands, but the young man was not missing something this exciting. Not when he could write his siblings, noty when he could talk to others, and the man beamed, ebony locks beintg brushed from his face as he crooned.

SPLENDID day for a hatching, wouldn't you say, Toth? H'are beamed. In the baqck of his mind, the brown snorted, shifting androlling his eyes in amusement.

Mine, you are far too easily excited. The drtagon rumbled. H'lare laughed, amusement bubbling between them as the Rider watched the events below. New riders were always exciting to see! The surprise, the joy-- oh, it was simply SPLENDID! Almost as exciting as when a gold rose!

Cami was up at the crack of dawn, as always. Once the sky started to lighten, she was awake, whether she wanted to be or not. A turn in, she'd like to believe she was getting used to the Weyr. And she was.. maybe. She was getting used to the people at least, she liked that part of it. But there were still times when she woke up feeling strangely panicked, in the same bed (a bed!) that she'd slept in so many nights before. It was too... nice. Too safe. And that somehow felt dangerous. What would their tribe, their caravan think of her now? Would he be proud? Disappointed? Would he think she was weak?

An arrow whistled out of her bow, sinking into the target with a satisfying thud. It calmed her nerves somewhat. I can still shoot. I can still hunt. she thought, pulling the arrows from the target. Once she was moving, doing things, busy, it wasn't so bad. It was only in the quiet moments, in the mornings, when things were still, that insecurity gripped her. She took a breath, filling her lungs self-possesion. I can still hunt. she thought to herself. One day I'll learn to hunt from dragonback.

She heard the hum before she heard the dragon's voice in her head. She returned quickly to her room, tucking the bow back beneath her bed. She went to wash and change, though she felt quite odd in the plain white robes. She bowed to the mother as they entered the sands. Looking around, she spotted a few people she knew, Chayrel and Caderyn, and her roommate Demanthra, and started wandering vaguely in that direction. Though her attention was focused more or less on the eggs. Already moving, in fact.

((Lol, left it kind of open, so just pick one if you want interaction x3 ))

Ichta. If she was friends with Goran, then she was probably nice, too. Maybe after this, they could talk - well, not right after, depending on what happened. The possibilities were endless. And thinking about all of them made her want to be sick, there was just so much hanging on what was about to happen...

Then the brightly-speckled egg started to wiggle, and everyone's attention focused on it, silently urging it on. Would it be the first to hatch, or would one of its siblings beat it? Her gaze slipped to the dark green egg that has so consumed her thoughts, slender fingers curling and uncurling nervously.

The question made Caderyn pause some, trying to think about what he really thought. "I honestly don't know." The movement of the blue egg drew his attention and he felt his breath catch in his throat. The little dragonnet inside seemed to be trying it's hardest to get out. There was no telling what color was inside of the egg, or any of the eggs. Deep down, he had a feeling Luiciand was trying to distract him from the red egg and he was grateful for it. He must seem like some love sick puppy. "Maybe, though it seems like it's having a hard time."

Observers: Ristia, Z'yden, and Taysen

Ristia came awake to Naeth's humming, jerking upright. They're hatching? she asked her beloved. Yes, mine, they're hatching! Hurry! the blue urged, head swinging into the room his rider slept in. With a laugh, Ristia bounded out of bed and threw clothes on haphazardly. Once the pair landed near the Hatching Grounds, Ristia slid off Naeth's back and rushed into the stands. Riagan would be on the sands today and she would not miss her son's chance at Impression.

Making her way to the front of the stands, she slipped into a seat next to Rissa and Tia, a wide smile on her face. "Excited?" she asked the older girl. The blue rider certainly was. She loved Hatchings, even more so when one of her kids was on the sands.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Z'yden had already been awake and dressed when Sameth started humming. With a quiet smile, he climbed onto his blue's back and the pair made their way down to the sands. There was a large amount of people vying for a place in the stands, but Z'yden managed to find one near the middle and waited patiently. Okay, so he was only a little bit patient, his leg jumping as he waited.
Movement on the sands caught his eye and he grinned as one of the eggs began to move. It's starting, Sameth. Soon there will be new dragons, new riders. He felt his blue's rumble of pleasure at the idea. I can't wait to meet them, Sameth replied.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Unlike pretty much everyone else in the stands, Taysen's eyes were not on the eggs. Yes, Hatchings were incredibly exciting and yes he would love to look at the little buggers when they were all done cracking out of their eggs but Taysen was more interested in what his fingers could pick up for him. He made his way through the stands, ostensibly trying to find a good seat, but he was just so clumsy! At least to onlookers he was. Bumping into people here and there, his sticky fingers slipping into pockets and pouches. Hatchings were his favorite days~

Candidates: Asheryn & Rhey

Asheryn had to keep reminding herself not to run. She could not run onto the sands. First of all, Gr'del would probably yank her right back off them and she'd have to wait until another clutch (or maybe more!) before she got another chance. Second of all (or maybe this one should have been first!) it would be seriously rude not to address Uridith and Takarath just because she was in a hurry to get to the sands.

So she slowed her pace and took deep breaths. Today could be the day! She needed to be calm and pay attention to what was going on around her because otherwise she could get mauled. And that would not be good. At all. Once on the sands, she bowed respectfully to the parents before making her way toward the eggs. She picked a spot nearish to the front and sort of to one side, shifting her feet on the heat of the ground beneath her.

Movement! A blue egg wobbled in its wallow and Asheryn gasped in a breath, her eyes wide as she watched it and offered silent encouragements as it paused.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rhey was nervous. No, that was an understatement of epic proportions. His heart was racing, his palms were sweaty, and he could not for the life of him control his ragged breathing. He only hoped no one else noticed. The teenager was equal parts eager to see if he would Impress as his father had, and anxious as to what would happen on the sands. He remembered himself enough to bow deeply to Uridith and Takarath before taking up a spot near the back of the crowd.
He scanned the crowds in the stands but couldn't focus enough to make out faces. Not that it mattered, he was certain that his family was out there to encourage and support him, no matter what happened. That thought served to calm him down a little and he took a closer look at the eggs.
One of them was already beginning to shake and Rhey cast his eyes over the rest of the clutch, wondering which one would be next. Today twenty two of the Candidates standing with him would be walking away with their dragons and he could be one of them.
