But Audrey didn't have much time to get away before the second Safari Ball shattered violently and Turtonator was back on the field. It quickly used the last of its Sunny Day to power a Solarbeam, blasting Audrey with it.

Keiko worried about Audrey, but she got up before Keiko could ask if she was okay. Still, she was close to fainting. Before she could issue a command, she felt a ball being slid into her open hand.

"Master and I are rooting for you!" Keiko heard Rala say as she looked down at the Timer Ball in her hand. Her first instinct was to see if they were in the stands or something, but she stopped herself. Audrey was about to faint.

"I'm sorry, Audrey, but I can't give up now. I need you to use one last attack. Can you use Last Resort on Turtonator?" she asked, hoping this would work.

Audrey didn't respond verbally, instead smiling and nodding bravely before rushing at Turtonator with everything she had, summoning a massive amount of Normal-type energy at Turtonator, who was outraged at the tiny Normal-type's endurance. It gathered up as much Dragon-type energy as it could muster and threw a fit. Audrey braved the storm and slammed her body into Turtonator.

She didn't have much energy left after that attack, but before Turtonator could make her faint, Keiko threw the Timer Ball that I bought for her.
PostPosted: Tue Feb 20, 2018 1:19 pm
The tension was obscene. This was Keiko's last ball, and if it didn't work, not only did she have an entry for the contest, but the six Snag Coins that went into that ball were wasted.

Fortunately, the ball held.

Keiko sighed in relief when she heard that trademark ping, then gave Audrey a tight hug for her effort. She then recalled Audrey, picked up Turtonator's ball, then made for the stands. It wasn't long before she found me and Rala.

After the weird run-in with the Tynamo, Tristen continued off down the cavern with the Litten walking behind him. The boy was trying to keep a look out on what was going on about him, in what limited range of light that he had. Though the light of his crests didn't prepare him for an unexpected trip of his feet and hitting the ground. "Owww!" Tristen cried out, sitting up and rubbing his knee. He looked over, trying to figure out what he tripped over. What looked like a round rock, it was instead company.

"DIGLL!" The Pokemon yelled out in protest.

"Uh...sorry?" He said. It was a Diglett...though, something was odd...tiny hairs on the top of its head. Or was it hair? He couldn't tell really in the dark. Either way, was it one of those Alolan Pokemon? Didn't matter, this thing was mad, as made evident by the massive sand attack it kicked up on Tristen. "ACK! PTBBBTH!" Tristen was blinded and was frantically spitting sand out of his mouth as he got up and tried to get distance from the agitated Pokemon. "Litten!" Tristen shouted.

The cat rushed in and went on the attack on the Diglett. "Fire Fang!" The boy shouted. Alolan or not, this was going to at least cause a fair bit of damage to it, he figured. The Litten pounced on the Diglett and bit down hard. The Diglett screeched as the tiny fire cat's fangs bore down into him. The Diglett shook a bit then pulled itself under the ground and out of the Litten's mitts. Tristen continued to spit sand out for a couple of seconds more and tried to brush sand away from his eyes as best as he could, then managed to look around, noticing the Diglett was gone.

"Where'd he go!?" Tristen shouted over towards Litten. Litten looked down the hole it left behind, giving it a bit of a smell then backed away, confused itself. Before Litten knew it, though, the Diglett popped out once more, full speed, ramming the underside of the cat with a Dig attack. Litten howled in pain from the damage that it just took, a super effective attack that it couldn't afford to take. "LITTEN!"

The cat managed to get back on its feet after the harsh landing brought upon by the Diglett's launch. "Litten! Use Ember! Keep your distance from that Diglett!" Tristen shouted. The cat unleashed a flurry of embers towards the Diglett, pelting the Pokemon rather harshly. Though no retaliation would come. The Diglett would just slink back into the hole, not in protest, but a dull whine. "...that...was quick..." Tristen said. "Maybe it was an Alolan one?" Tristen said, making his way over towards the hole. "I heard those kinds are actually steel type for some reason...don't know why, though. Still...they hit as hard to a fire type as any other Diglett, that's for sure...are you okay?" Tristen asked. He didn't get a reply out of Litten; the cat was more focused on licking himself. "I'll take that as a yes..." The boy said. Typical cat.

"So how long are you going to do that?" Tristen asked Litten. A two minute long tussle with a Diglett at best apparently warranted a 10 minute cleaning break. It was minute number 9 so far. He didn't understand this cat, try as he might. Such a fickle thing. It has to be a cat thing, he figured. It would explain, at least, his father figure's Zangoose, perhaps.

As he just sat and waited, the boy's nose started to smell a familiar foul odor, just as he did earlier. "Is that another Foongus?" Tristen asked. The cat perked up, finally stopping its grooming, giving a sniff of the air then looked towards the darkness. Sure enough, it was another one of the mushroom Pokemon, and...it looked really ticked off. Tristen took closer notice to it. "You're the one from earlier! Why are you picking a fight now?"

Not wanting to be an outright bully to the Foongus, the boy had an idea. Rapidly, the boy intensified his Flash to blinding, weaponized levels to blind the angry fungus. He then snatched up his Litten and ran. This wasn't a fight worth having. Didn't matter to Litten; that just meant more cleaning now.

Tristen got some distance and placed the cat back down on the ground. "This isn't going too hot." Tristen said. A realization then hit the kid and looked around. "Just...how deep are we in this place?" The boy then asked. "I hope this place doesn't have any Ebonite in it...I kinda want to get out fast once I'm done."

"Mrrowr?" Litten spoke up. It didn't really care either way. Typical cat.

"Come on-huh?" Once again, the boy noticed the blue and yellow glowing object in the distance. "Another Tynamo? Is it the same one?" This one was coming full speed ahead, and didn't pay Tristen any mind. It was going after the cat, though. "Maybe, it isn't trying to attack me anymore! Litten! Watch it!" The boy shouted. The cat hopped out of the way of the sparking Tynamo, though just getting a close brush of that did make the cat's fur stand on end from its electricity.

"Litten, use Double Kick!" Tristen shouted over towards the kitten. The Litten rushed to the Tynamo and leaped over. The Tynamo dodged the cat's pounce then went to retaliate. The front of it started to spark up and then quickly discharged an electrical beam towards Litten. "A Charge Beam!? I don't think this is the same one anymore!"

Litten was nailed with the attack, causing some damage to the cat. "Litten! Use Fire Fang!" Tristen commanded. The cat rushed off towards the floating fish and finally pounced on it and clamped down hard with a fiery maw. The Tynamo squeaked in panic but then discharged more electricity in its Spark attack, making Litten's ears and tail stand straight up along with causing damage to the cat and making Litten back away really fast. "Litten! I didn't say just to stay there and gnaw on it a lot while you were at it!" Tristen shouted. "Ember!" He then commanded. The cat retaliated, unleashing a flurry of embers upon the Tynamo, searing its opponent and finally putting it down.

"...That was different..." Tristen said, walking forth and staring in confusion for a second. "Kinda glad this thing wasn't evolved, though...I heard those things are trouble when they are. Come on, let's go before it wakes back up and wants more."

"Rowr..." Litten mewed out, tongue sticking out. The taste of copper was dominating this cat more than anything else so far...

After a long wait with nothing biting, Lykas reeled in his line to check his hook and see if he should try adding some fresh bait or possibly consider changing his lure to something else entirely. As he pulled the line from the water and caught sight of his hook with a long piece of what looked like rotting seaweed dangling from it, he laughed at himself. "A piece'a kelp? No wonder I wasn't getting any bites!" He said to himself, reaching for his hook to remove the obstruction to the pointy end.

"Skreeeeeelp."

"Hm!?" Lykas snapped his head around, eyes glowing black as he prepared to defend himself from something. He saw nothing around him, however. "Genevieve! High alert." He ordered his Dewpider, figuring the Bug would be able to serve as a sentinel and keep an eye out for anything watching them while he went back to fishing. Reaching for his hook once again, he found the kelp on his hook had moved but not in any way natural for soggy dead seaweed.

"Skreeeeelp!"

This time, it was clear the cry had come from his hook as a face stared out of one end of the kelp he'd reeled in. "What the heck kind of Pokemon are you?" Lykas asked, unfamiliar with Skrelp.

The Poison-type gave him a funny look and then sprayed a Water Gun in his face. The hybrid gurgled a bit, unable to speak through the torrent of water spray him in the face, then gave the Mock Kelp Pokemon an angry look. "You know what. I don't care what kind of Pokemon you are. You're a jerk!" He told it. "Genevieve! Liquidation!"

Skrelp jumped off of Lykas's hook as Genevieve cloaked himself in a whorl of clear water and rushed toward his fellow Water-type. While in the air, Skrelp shot a Sludge Bomb at Genevieve. The blob of toxic goop hit the water surrounding Genevieve and exploded, clouding up the water and obfuscating his vision and forcing him to stop the attack.

"Genevieve, are you ok?" Lykas asked, seeing his water spider coughing as his purple-clouded water cloak fell away from him. The Pokemon's body seemed to be almost flashing purple at this point, obvious signs of poisoning showing that Skrelp had been effective at it's attempt to fend off the attack. "Try again!" Lykas directed, his drive to capture this Pokemon increased further now that his partner had been harmed by this thing. Genvieve nodded and used Liquidation again, cloaking himself in water and rushing toward Skrelp again. This time, the Poison-type countered the attack with an electric-shock-like blast of purple energy. The attack hit Genvieve and the spider practically crumpled under it's effect. It hit way harder than he'd expected it to. "That looked like Venoshock! Are you ok?" Lykas asked, knowing that attack had to have hit very hard.

"Dew...pider..." Genevieve grunted, getting back up after that attack proving harder than he'd expected it to be.

"We need range..." Lykas growled to himself. "Use Spider Web and throw it further up on shore!" He directed his partner. Genevieve nodded and spit a sticky thread of silk toward Skrelp. The thread exploded outward into a preformed net when it got close and with a hard tug, the net snapped shut and stuck to itself as it wrapped around the Mock Kelp Pokemon's miniscule tail fins. Genevieve saw the successful attempt at capturing the little thing and spun himself around in a circle multiple times, spinning Skrelp around on the end of the rope-like silk thread stuck to it. Once he had some momentum built up, Genevieve cut the rope and sent Skrelp sailing toward dryer land.

"Skrelp!" The dual-type yelped as it bounced off the ground, flipping over and spitting another Sludge Bomb at Genevieve.

"Mirror Coat!" Lykas ordered, knowing Genevieve would take damage but this was his best chance to deal some of his own without forcing Genevieve into closer range than he needed to be. The spider's water-bubble covered head took on a rainbow shimmer a moment before the toxic orb of explosive corrosives hit him. Genevieve braced himself and endured the hit, feeling the ball's surface tension beginning to erode, ready to violently erupt in a shower of poison. It was at the exact moment the bomb made to burst that Mirror Coat finally reflected the attack, rocketing it back along the same trajectory it had followed to hit him except that this time, it exploded part way, sending a violent hailstorm of toxic bullets raining down on Skrelp along with a mixture of pure water from Genevieve's Water Bubble.

Amid the explosion and resulting rain of damaging poison pellets, Lykas pulled a Safari Ball from his pocket, took aim and hurled it into the chaos around Skrelp, striking it along with the many tiny bombs from it's own reflected attack.

Tristen continued to walk along with the Litten following the boy. Up ahead, his hearing was starting to pick up on something faint...a clank, a clunk, a thud...nothing metallic...like rock meeting rock. The boy moved ahead, getting closer to the noise, putting his lights out. There was some light over this way; perhaps something from the outside. Perhaps its why Pokemon has gathered over here. The boy looked around a rock formation and saw a bunch of Cubone; some were dueling each other, others was banging rocks, turning them into rubble with their bone clubs to test each other's strength, and the like. This actually had the kid a bit concerned and he slowly backed away. Even one would prove bad news to Litten; worse if there was something like a Marowak around. There is too many Cubone for the sake of THAT without something else contributing, he thought. Lessons from his guardians at work.

Yea...not...going...to touch...that one. The boy would leave these Cubone be...

As Tristen backed away, he was waiting for a good opportunity to re-light his lights and get back on the path, but once again, he found himself tripping on something. "YAAH!" The boy hit the ground once more, wincing hard. He then finally turned on his lights and looked at what he tripped on. It was something a bit larger than a Diglett this time. It was a rock...a living one.

"GEEO!" It turned around, with a perturbed look on its face. It was darker gray than most Geodude he has known and has small rocky spikes on its forehead. It was an Alolan one; and by extension an electric one as evident by a couple of sparks coming off of it and it too started to float like the Tynamo he encountered before it.

As the Alolan Geodude reared back for the attack, Tristen immediately called out without hesistation, if not just out right panic. "Litten, Bite attack!" The Litten rushed forth to the rescue, hopping onto the Geodude and started to bite down with darkness infused fangs. The Geodude started to shake about and managed to toss the Litten off of it. "Geo!!!" It roared out, turning its attention towards the cat, fist surging with electricity.

"A Thunderpunch! Litten! Look out!" The cat couldn't get out of the way in time and takes the Geodude's fist right on, sending the cat flying back quite fiercely. "Litten!" The cat struggles up, but it's not looking too hot. Maybe perhaps still feeling the dig attack from earlier by the Diglett? Maybe the Spark from the Tynamo did more than he thought. Either way, he could tell Litten isn't feeling too hot. "Litten! Ember!" Tristen shouted. The Litten fired off its flurry of embers towards the Geodude. It shielded its face for a bit, but soon after shrugged the attack aside as if it was nothing more than a minor annoyance. "...that didn't do much at all...it's still a rock type, too. Not good." Tristen said.

The Geodude surged with electricity, enshrouding itself and went charging towards the Litten. "It also got a Spark attack too!? Litten! Here it comes!" He shouted. The call managed to get to the cat in time, the cat managing to avoid the shot as the Geodude rushed on by and plows through a nearby stalagmite. "Okay, if its still a rock type then...Litten! Double Kick!" Tristen shouted. He had to get on the offensive and fast, otherwise Litten wasn't going to last too much longer against this living boulder.

The cat rushed in and pounced hard upon Geodude, the back to back strikes in desperation was harsh against Litten's opponent, making the Geodude back up quite quickly. Enraged, the Geodude started to surge in power, its body started crackling with electricity. It was using Charge...meaning that Geodude had every intention on ending it with his next attack. "Litten! Hurry! Give it another Double Kick! I don't know what it wants to do next, but it can't be good!"

The cat quickly went back on the attack. The cat smashes into the Geodude once again, another couple of powerful strikes to the Rock Pokemon, driving it into the ground. Tristen watched on, seeing Litten land and the Geodude on its back, still on the ground. The Geodude's electricity popped for a couple more seconds, until the electricity all dissipated. Tristen sighed in relief, as did his Litten.

"I think we need to find somewhere to lay low really fast before we find something like that again..."

"Nerrroww..." Litten moaned out; for once, it could agree.

Tristen picked up Litten and carried him off, just to give the cat a break. As he rushed off, the boy took notice to more glowing blue and yellow lights within the darkness. "More Tynamo? This place gotta be loaded with those things." Not wanting to chance another fight so soon after the electric rock, let alone risk grand amounts of induced paralysis upon Litten after fighting so many electric types, the boy kept moving on to find a place to rest.

The boy manages to find a place to rest and sits Litten down, stroking its fur a bit to assure that it was going to be okay. Litten returns the gesture with a rather morbid look; it wasn't feeling too hot. It looked about as bad as it did when he fought Magmar when it was still shadowfied back during the last safari, the boy thought. Just as back then, Tristen started to feel bad for it. Tristen took off his pack and started to get some healing supplies out; he was still bound by the rules, rather he liked them or not, for doing this excursion. As he was doing so, the boy perked up and dimmed his lights, hoping he wasn't spotted by whatever it was out there.

He waited for a moment and come to realize that he didn't hide himself in time. A Machop found its way around a bunch of rocks, looking at the two. Tristen got himself between the Machop and his Litten, his crests sparking with electricity, threatening the Pokemon. He really didn't want to fight the Machop himself, but he had to defend his Litten. Litten could probably fight, but not for long, especially not against the likes of a Machop. Litten would be manhandled for sure even worse than what the Diglett from earlier could do. The Machop looked a bit shocked himself and just decided to back away. He knew he wasn't wanted here.

Once the boy realized the Machop backed off, Tristen sighed yet another sigh of relief then turned his attention back towards his cat. "Alright, let's get you fixed up..."

When, after just a moment, Skrelp broke free of the Safari Ball, Lykas pulled another ball from his pocket and threw it before Skrelp had the chance to try and fight back again. He didn't notice until it was mid flight that it was the single Heal Ball he had ever recalled owning. "If this works, I'm gonna regret having it in a pink Pokeball..." He told himself with a sigh.

Lykas just wanted to get this over with by the time Skrelp had managed to break free of the Heal Ball. "Are you kidding me?!" He screamed, dipping his hand into his pocket. "Leech Life! Suck it dry!" He commanded Genevieve. The Dewpider nodded and attacked, racing toward Skrelp as fast as his multiple legs could carry him and biting down on the Water/Poison dual type. Draining the already somewhat weakened Pokemon's life force a little at a time but making quick work of it. Lykas pulled his hand from his pocket with an Ultra Ball clutched in it. This time had to work! Throwing the ball once more, he hit Skrelp just as it managed to slap Genevieve with it's poison coated tail, pushing the pair apart a bit.

It took a bit, using potions and general tending to so Litten can be back up and fighting shape once again. "Well, I gotta admit, this cave wasn't what I thought it'd be. Then again, its almost been as bad. That Machop would have really messed us up if we went and fought it."

"Mrrrow." The Litten replied. It started to take a smell of itself, wincing a bit. Apparently the smell of potions wasn't all that pleasant to its cat nose.

"Sorry, but it's the best I can do." Tristen said, getting back up. "Anyways, let's go look around some more before we leave, okay? There's still plenty more cave to look around in...though, given all what we seen so far, I'm beginning to think there's not much here. I mean we've seen like...a whole buncha-" Tristen stopped mid-sentence, veering his eyes over, almost in comedic effect, practically feeling like he was being watched. "...Tynamo. Well, what's one more, huh?" Tristen asked Litten, almost a bit irritated. "Litten! Ember attack."

Forget waiting on provocation, Tristen went on ahead and called the attack. The Tynamo gets pelted by the searing flames from the cat, forcing it to hover away to get some distance. The Tynamo quickly whips back on around and readies an attack, electricity formed infront of it and it fired straight for the cat. "Charge beam! Look out!" Tristen shouted. Unfortunately, the cat couldn't get out of the way in time and it was struck by the attack.

"Ugh, Litten! Fire Fang! And don't sit there and gnaw on it like last time!" Litten shook the pain off for the time being and rushed over towards the Tynamo, pouncing on top of the hovering electric type and clamped down hard with its fire-laced fangs and bit down hard. The Tynamo squeaked out hard as it struggled. Keeping to command, the Litten tossed the Tynamo before it got the idea to shock it with another Spark attack; but at this point, it was no longer necessary. The Tynamo was done.

"There...that's that." Tristen said. "Come on, let's hurry before we get the attention of more Tynamo."

Tristen had to admit some of that last encounter was a bit out of frustration. So many Tynamo around. It was almost as if the took over the role of Zubats in this particular cavern. They were generally easy fights though, so maybe it wasn't so bad. On the flip side, Tristen had a realization that this probably wasn't going to do Litten a lot of good in the long term. Not all fights would be that easy...if the Diglett or the Geodude from earlier was any indication of that.

Further more, despite tending to Litten's injuries, the boy had the feeling that easy fight or no, he may want to ease up on the battles. It wasn't like Litten was a complete bundle of energy or just a juggernaut like some Pokemon he's known. It was young, and still for the most part inexperienced. Then again, this is perhaps the most he's worked with his Litten so far; the most prior to this being the incident against that off-the-wall Farfetch'd, if anything, and that was rather brief. Perhaps the extra battle or two would do the cat some good instead.

It was a thought that kept Tristen pre-occupied, leaving a Paras that was close by alone.

Tristen finally snapped out of his train of thought and looked about the area. Now that he was paying closer attention, he felt something under his feet. He pressed down on the ground with his foot, putting more weight on it, realizing the ground was unusually soft. "Um...Litten, hang on." Tristen said, kneeling down. There was a trail around, something moved through here. Something not all that wide. The boy could only think of one thing... "Another Diglett?" Tristen asked. That actually worried him. He wasn't sure if Litten could take another Dig attack, injuries tended to or no, though he had to make sure.

The boy followed the trail, slowly. He heard then some slight rumbling, shifting off of the ground. Sure enough, his suspicions was right. More Diglett. He really didn't want Litten fighting that if he had to. Litten might be able to hurt any one of them pretty badly, but the same could be said the other way around. Tristen just backed away...not wanting to put Litten in so bad of shape so quickly again.
