M'rcus and Blue Desiderith

M'rcus

Name: Marcuros M'rcus
Age: 25
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Weyr: High Reaches Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Former Apprentice Jeweler
Physical Description:Five foot eight, a swimmer's build, fit, light brown skin, black hair and dark blue eyes. He has burn scars over the right side of his face and the top portion of his scalp, resulting in a white patch of hair that covers most of his scars. He dyes for public appearances or meetings with new people, and stops once he feels that a person or group will react less to the oddity.
-His scars run from front right scalp to his mid cheek, and go over his eye rather than on. He can see just fine, though his eyebrow is also white, (and he's too lazy to dye it and risk his eye that way).
Personality:
Non-confrontational: Fighting, verbally or physically is not in M'rcus's agenda. He tends to make way for those who feel the need to push, and only offers resistance in the event it runs counter to his morals or are detrimental to his work. In such events he tends to offer the most minimal interaction as possible. While he is curt in such events, he doesn't resort to insults or debates. He says no, and continues on with what he feels needs to be done, (if that means being a stubborn roadblock so be it). He backs off if he unintentionally offends or someone tells him to 'stop' (usually seen with his flirting), and more often than not M'rcus will try to solve conflicts peacefully with compromise if possible.

Thoughtful: Value is placed into work, intent, meaning, symbolic gestures- M'rcus isn't so much eloquent as is just some one who likes to consider the feelings of others and the consequences of his actions when not looking towards his own aims. While he may be a flirt, he's very respectful of when he's rebuffed and declined, and is fast to offer an apology if he's unintentionally made someone uncomfortable. He likes company, even with his appearance, and will often try to not shock or expose the scars which others might find awkward or uncomfortable. M'rcus holds value in what he does and says, and will hold the same value to the words and actions of others. This does mean he spends more time on detail work if and when told the meaning behind it. It can also, at times, lead to him over thinking. He's working on that though.

Driven: Some might call him stubborn, others steadfast. One might say he's meticulous while at the same time being to easily engrossed. When M'rcus does something, he does it with the full intent on completing it to the best of his abilities. From wooing to his cooking, (while both can use practice), and sculpting wire or just cleaning his boots, M'rcus aims to work and do well in his work. The same goes for his promises and his goals. He likes completing things, the feeling of satisfaction that comes with. He likes finality, closure. Sadly, when lacking such an 'end' he can end up feeling rather disappointed in himself or others, or he becomes stubbornly determined to finish it by any means. This can blindside him at times, and end up with him completing something nearly perfect... at the cost of that date he had planned. Whoops!

Hedonistic: M'rcus loves life. It's a simple enough fact, but his love of life is also a rather one sided love. He fails to see how taking risks are well... not good. Oh he gets the logic of some things, like logically you don't want to see how many women you can seduce in one night but if you can... why not? Wanting to try new things and test his own limits, M'rcus in his driven behavior sometimes forgets risk are risks and he does have very real limits. So what if he didn't eat while he was working? He was having fun and enjoying himself. He might miss a trader coming to town if he goes to sleep with a pretty girl? Well... that happens. Good food, good company, good times. He needs inspiration. Too bad he finds it at the expense of other things such as his health, his finances, or his ability to look somebody in the eye later that week.

Logical: Honesty is a great policy but it's not the best. In his own twisted sense of logic, things for other people matter in the future. Things for himself matter in that instant.Sacrificing dinner to complete a work while he's 'on a roll' makes sense to him because he's already so focused. Skipping out on someone to meet a pretty girl? Makes sense because the girl is just one night, the other person will be there in the morning. Arguing over small stuff? Not worth anyone's time. M'rcus's logic is self rewarding unless it is a situation where another person's happiness or well being is effected. He does a lot of selfish things but he never aims to have others get hurt for his benefit. He weighs things logically (to his view). If it would hurt a person more than help them to tell the truth... he wont say anything. If he has to choose between a job that pays more or a job from a friend... he needs the coin so higher paying job it is. His logic is logical, if.... twisted.

Moralistic: Upfront, honest... and blunt and sometimes crude M'rcus tries to do well by others and help them but can fall short. Very short. In his tunnel self centric vision he can forget not everyone is like him. Not everyone appreciates him backing down from fights, people don't always like a workaholic, and its annoying to have something said to you with such a blunt honesty that well intentioned, wasn't exactly 'pleasant' to be confronted with. No matter how much he might think about his words or actions, he can mess up and just flat forget it's not all about him. He sticks to what he thinks, that there is a way you act, that you should treat one person one way and another person differently depending on who they are and what they've done. His beliefs no matter the intent, blind him to the larger fact that he is stubborn. His view of right is right. He will do his best and someone help him he might never know he's doing wrong.

Positive Trait List Non-confrontational, Thoughtful, Driven

Negative Trait List Hedonistic, Logical, Moralistic

History:

Born to a Journeymen blacksmith and his wife in Crom hold, M'rcus grew up by forges and fire. A single child he was more or less expected to take up work as a smith of some sort, the trade of both his parents. Taught to read and write the basics early on to give him a potential head start as a smith, he had the basics of his parent's craft in terms of what they did and what one day he would be expected to do.

It just so happened that one day he went to the forge with his father at the tender age of 11. And in a brilliant move, decided to show dad what he knew.
That was involving hot coals.

Ending with them connecting to his face from a fall, his face was badly burned and though his eye was saved, it left obvious damage. After this event M'rcus's father forbade him from becoming a blacksmith and told him that he was to pursue something more suitable. Like drafting. M'rcus didn't think so.

M'rcus and his parents fought up until he was 14 at which point M'rcus had found a better love, jewelry. The skill to mold shape from hot metal, to wrap it around precious stones and other ornaments? The detail work and the artistry of it got him going and while it still would mean working somewhat in a forge it wouldn't be nearly as worrisome for his parents.

His mother and father gave (reluctant) approval and M'rcus began his apprenticeship. He had never considered the possibility of being a candidate, much less a dragon rider. He never would have even considered the possibility of becoming a rider yet at 17, he was searched, and the opportunity intrigued him, even he could admit that much. He was old enough to know what craft he would pursue should he never be chosen, he could return to it. Still, it took him a day to decide but once he accepted? He was ready to take on whatever happened. A year later he found himself with Desiderith, and he's been working as a rider since.

Other: Reads and write well, ambidextrous, steady hands for detail work, moderate knowledge of minerals, Kind of a shitty sculptor and cook but he tries

Desiderith
Age: 7
Color: Blue
Size: 26'
Physical Description: 'Dragon shaped' quote M'rcus. Sleek and on the thin side. While a bit on the small side for a blue, he's rather lanky and has limbs that seem to be a little longer than average.
Personality: While M'rcus is respectable of people's feelings and boundaries, Desiderith is not. The dragon will prod and poke and pry at anything and everything that gathers his attention. And he is not going to stop unless he is made to stop. This unfortunately isn't something 'he'll grow out of' according to his exasperated rider because the dragon has always been this way. From his days as a hatchling to now as a fully grown dragon, Desiderith's curious nature and his lack of caring for personal limits tests his rider's patience, as well as that of others.

He's not meaning to be rude or offend, but why don't you enjoy his proximity? He isn't doing anything.

Desiderith knows very well his behavior isn't acceptable but he just does not care. Sarcasm and sass are the dragon's bread and butter, and he often will chime in with unwelcome commentary to anyone who will listen. He also is a 'terrible creature' as he insists that he knows what is best for M'rcus- especially when it come to amorous pursuits and relationship advice. He is perceptive of his rider in ways that M'rcus wishes he wasn't, and Desiderith is also the type to spend hours watching his fellow dragons and their riders for the simple sake of trying to better understand just what drives them or is going through their minds.

He watches people, he waits to approach, and when he does, he does with confidence. He is every inch confident in himself and his abilities, moreso, he refuses to yeild to what he will see as bad decisions, only cowed by a very angry M'rcus or the threat of violence or something that level of extreme. He's obstinate, crass, rude, and infuriating.
But under that nature, Desiderith is one who also refuses to yield in the face of adversity, who will stand up against others even when he knows he can and will lose. He is caring in his own way, seeking approval and attention in whatever form it comes in. The dragon's adverse nature hides a much more vulnerable one of passion and heart, something he and his rider share at their core.
