"I am so glad that I am welcome to take it exactly as it was meant," Lila playfully sasses right back at Elentári's weak avoidance of the subject. "I think I know you well enough to hear what you say behind the actual words you use. And what I hear, behind the words, is that you would be more than happy to spend all your hours gazing into a certain pair of mismatched glowing eyes. Or through pretty, patterned glass windows... or perhaps leaning against a majestic, powerful shoulder? Listening to a certain charming voice talk about glass, and working together, and..."

Lilavati Wordcount: 102

Quote:
"Do as you like, oh stubborn one," Elentári mutters with an affectionately playful wrinkle of her muzzle to indicate a playful sort of annoyance. "Knowing you, you are certain to do so anyway! But I think that that's more than enough out of you, thank you very much! Such wild speculation and imaginings, Lila! I am surprised at you."

The Star Kindler shook her head, sending her curling mane tumbling about her, the dark strands whipping and billowing on the wind, fresh stars sparking and shooting about, some escaping the space silken confines and winging away to be lost from view. Lila's speculation was playful and not unkind, but bashfulness was building up in Elentári's chest behind the brightly burning star and filling her with a feeling like butterflies or shooting stars.

"With friends like this, who needs enemies?" Elentári countered with a mirthful smirk, gently jostling the silver tapir dancer with a playful shove. "Weren't you listening? Think of poor Tiam, she doesn't want to discuss work. She's here to hopefully visit with friends and have a good time. There's no reason to rush her off to watch me barter with the Glass Maker about future collaborations."

She gives Tiam a gentle nudge as they stride away from the boot, acting as though they're both happy to leave Lila behind with her wild imaginings. "Let us be on our way, shall we, Tiam? Lila and her wild imagination can catch up, or not, but we should get some shopping in while she waxes poetic about the various artisans we are so fortunate to have here at the Faire."

"Now, now, Elentári," Lilavati playfully feigns a reprimand. "We're friends, are we not? So then, that is rather harsh, do you not think, Lady of Stars? Your friends love you dearly and worry about your health and well fare... And if you're up before the sun working, that must mean that there's a rush on these lanterns... So of course it would follow that a visit to the Glass Maker would be necessary. Vital, even! How could we call ourselves your friends if we did not help you with this project?"

Lila tosses her pretty head, sending her mane to flying and bells to chiming, attracting the attention of a few of the stallions around them, though she pays no mind. She darts after her friends with a playful whining, merriment making her eyes bright. "With friends like these indeed! Do you hear her, Asra? Just leaving me, just like that! And off to see some of the most handsome, most talented artists at the Faire, no doubt. So hurtful, just abandoning me like this."

Setting aside her feigned rivalry with the Faire Queen in favor of stepping up to Elentári's other shoulder, Lilavati gives Solanum the kind of look the flirtatious stallion deserves, snorting softly. "If there's a mare here that doesn't know what a pickup artist our Sol is, I feel duty-bound to tell her immediately."

Not much of a showman at heart, but certainly a flirt, Solanum finds it quite easy to adopt aspects of physical comedy when bantering with the Faire ladies. These have never truly passed time with him as as anything other than friends, so there's something approaching a sibling rivalry beneath their bickering that he treasures even more than he might true romance or flirtation.

"Lady Tiam cuts me straight to my very heart," mourns Solanum with a mournful glance of soulful eyes. "It is, I am sure, more than I deserve."

"Spare a poor Tea Trader, oh fierce Lady," Solanum appeals to Lila with a teasing flash of his eyes, arching his neck and lifting an elegant paw, as if posturing to show himself in the most attractive but modest light.

He gives her a final wink and a bow, stepping out of the line of fire with regards to the new arrival, and the feeling of family or familiarity between the ladies. Nella's feigned sympathy brings a smile back to his face, and he offers her a roguish wink he knows she will pay little attention to, but it's still more than what her companions would return.

"She is indeed, oh radiant Fantasia, my misfortunes are great indeed on this day... But my heart is somewhat soothed by your sympathies and attentions, oh merciful- oh! That's rude indeed, kicking a stallion when he's down. I do not feel I have done anything deserving a fish to the face."

He grumbles, feeling slightly wronged by the suggestion that his romantic heart has lead him to ruin. "I really do not think it is my fault this time, Lady Nella. Some of these are utter strangers to me, while the others are largely ladies I hold in high regard and esteem, but I cannot claim any courtship with. I admire them as artists, but I think most of them have eyes and hearts set elsewhere. Perhaps the new arrival would like an escort around the Faire, once she has spoken with her kin?"

Solanum "Bittersweet" Boneblossom: 342

Quote:
Tiam regards her bickering friends with silent fondness, watching as Elentári and Lilavati needle and jostle at each other as they make their otherwise elegant way down the avenues. There are fond nods and smiles and various greetings to the artists they pass, but it doesn't slowdown their argument in the slightest. For her part, Tiam just follows along with them, quietly amused at how they might be back at Court except for the fact that this time, the Crown Princess seemed to be genuinely enjoying herself. At home El had her siblings and handmaidens, but very few were permitted close enough to gain the title of friend. Here, well, here was entirely different.

So much so that it was surprising to see one of the Court Ladies to appear. Tiam Asra knew Telumendil by sight, largely from a distance, due to the orders to keep her and her brother well away from the Royals. Children of the King though they were, they were out of one of his mistresses, and not regarded particularly highly in his esteem. Of course, considering how he felt about his Royal Heirs, was not much of a surprise.

"I don't think you have any business flirting with Elentári's kin." Tiam warned lightly. "I think if you insist on trying, you should know that you are courting danger... And there's a Lady or three that would explain that to you, to say nothing of the gentleman than are sure to follow, considering the current gathering."

There's a soft sigh she can't help giving, lowering her head faintly as if suddenly weary. 'What are we to do now, with them all here? Will he follow too?'

"You are too flattering by half," Nella Fantasia found herself observing as she listened to the way Sol wove flattering words among the group of elegant mares. His penchant for banter and flattery surely served him well in his profession as a Trader and Artisan, but she didn't think it always served his social life in the best interest. Too much of a good thing, as the saying went."You might be careful it doesn't get you in trouble one day, Sol. Considering things, I might even venture to say that that day is today, and it's already too late."
She smiles and shakes her head at the wink he sends her way, doing her best to narrow her bright eyes in warning.
'Don't you even,' she playfully thinks, already sighing in disappointment and shaking her head as he starts in on her.
"You deserved it," she snipes playfully at him. "Go on, away with you. I see Zinger and Khajrayna standing at the outskirts of this whole mess. If I had to guess, they're more the type to be waiting for you to disentangle yourself from all of this, rather than just the sort that wants to stand at the outskirts and watch drama."
Glancing toward to the two stallions in question, the stars and fireflies painted Cerynei mare gives an understanding nod in response to Khajrayna's concerned look. "Solanum, how about you and I go speak with them, and leave the ladies to their reunion and discussion. I feel that such things are stressful enough without hangers on and spectators, hmm?"

"He is nothing if not predictable," Khajrayna observed, grinning as his commentary prompted a low laugh from his companion. "You laugh because you cannot argue with me on that score, and you well know it."

Khaj gives Zinger a companionable nudge of his shoulder, knowing it won't sway the tall Cheshire in the slightest but it does convey his humor and affection.

"Any interest in leaving me behind to do the same? They are quite lovely, I wouldn't blame you."

Khajrayna: 80

Quote:
"I cannot argue," Zinger conceeds with a nod of his head. "If Sol is not running from someone dangerous or irate, it does indeed follow that he'd be running toward someone.. And it's unlikely that he's running toward anyone for the sake of buying or trading from them... So, toward someone beautiful, or a collection of beauties, in this case."

"It looks like things are going to get a little, involved," Zinger murmured, trying to be decorous but considering the presumed relatives with a critical eye. "I think it would be best if we kept out of it. As you said, it's nothing that cannot wait. Better to stay on the right side of the ladies, alliance aside.. It's just good sense not to upset them. So, to that point, I think I'll stay out of it but it is appreciated that my social life is still very much a concern to you."

Quote:
"That's very true," Khaj murmured with a nod. "I won't even bother to attempt arguing it. He is our friend regardless."

Though he hears Zinger proposing the idea that they mind their own business and carry on, Khaj makes a noncommittal noise and tilts his head, noticing he's caught the attention of one of the drama's closest witnesses. Nella Fantasia is tossing him a speaking look, gesturing with her dainty nose and a flick of her bright eyes, trying to relay instructions. Zing doesn't seem to notice, nor does most of the tangle of mares involved in the sudden reunion, but Khaj rather prefers it that way. It sees like Nella, for her part, doesn't need or wish to be part of the family reunion or drama that is occurring. She's planning to get out of the way, and it looks like she'll bring Sol with her at the very least.

"We've got an inside woman," Khaj cheerfully instructs Zinger with another nudge, this one sharper and more designed to jostle him into movement. "Cut over to the next aisle, won't you? Nella will be heading that way, and I think she'll bring Sol and anyone else who wishes to go with her. It should speed things up considerably."

Giving Nella a smile and a bow, Khajrayna spun on his heels and trotted quickly through a narrow aisle between two booths, sighing in relief when the next walkway was open and uncrowded. "Much better."

Distracted by her chatter and banter with her friends, Elentári doesn't notice any change in the general buzz of the Faire. She certainly should, in hindsight, there was likely quite a change... Even if it was something as simple as the vendors changing their attention and attempting to sway in a new patron. There wasn't much of a need to put emphasis on hawking when selling at the Faire, but sometimes a competitive soul or two would stir it up for novelty and entertainment. On a set up day like this, there weren't so many shoppers as there were other wandering artists. It was nice to have the time to shop and trade before the hubbub of a new event began and the day was filled with customers.

But even so, Elentári heard the use of her title in the lull, and spun around to fix her eyes on the new arrival. She had a great many full and half siblings, step siblings and innumerable cousins she was certain of... to say nothing of what other relations might be out there in the world, or back in the Court. But as far as she knew, none of them were here... at least not until now.

"Ah, yes, of course..." Elentári murmured when it appeared the stranger was waiting for her agreement. "Apologies, why don't we go somewhere quiet to talk?"

Canting his head and considering the flutter stallion's words, Nahale gives a conceding nod. "True enough, it's likely to a pretty piece of work... Coordination is no mean feat, but considering the skill and dedication of those involved. I don't think it will be too difficult. And as I said, given those involved, it seems like it will be a pleasant and diverting endeavor."

They're not naming names or even sharing too much detail, but the relevant information has been passed on and Nahale is sure that Esadowa will take his time to consider the possibilities. What's more, he's likely to mention it to his herd-mates and those he routinely trades with, which might open up a few fresh avenues for the future.

Setting aside that topic for now, Nahale waits to see if Sangria needs backup or wants the assistance of Security, laughing softly at Esa's observation. "Only the very foolish or very unfortunate find themselves receiving Sangria's wrath. I don't think anyone will bother to feel bad for him, or at least not anyone who knows. She is not the sort to unleash fury on the innocent. As long as you don't upset the lady, you'll remain unruffled and return to your Princess in the exact condition you arrived. If you do decide to court danger, it will be my pleasure to laugh at you."

When Sangria seems to settle back into her usual sales persona and the routine hum of the Faire at work is back, Nahale relaxes slightly and flicks his eyes back to the star-marked stranger that seems familiar to him. "No kin to you, but certainly familiar."

The problem with the Faire being popular meant that there were souls of all ships and sizes were in and out on a daily or even hourly basis. Between that and the moving location that also exposed them to various herds and new local populations, it was hard to keep all of the different faces straight, especially if they weren't familiar through conversation or repeated encounters.

"Maybe he's one of hers, or her herd-mates," Nahale mused. "He seems like he's searching for someone."

Not that Nahale would be responsible for making that part easy. Many of the Faire Ladies gave the impression they didn't want family or herd-mates chasing after them, and until he knew for sure they were okay with visiting kin, he would not be the one that told said strangers their lost ladies were happy and thriving here.

"Those of us who aren't exactly built for large-scale social events would probably appreciate a smaller Faire experience," Esadowa offered after some consideration, smiling and nodding a greeting to some of the shoppers. "Or a different route, perhaps one that stayed close to our homelands or our routine territories? I think the others will be interested to hear the plans, and without some of the usual troublemakers it might be a more relaxed atmosphere... We can all say that with honesty."

It's not a judgment, just an honest statement of fact. Though Esadowa himself does not (yet) have any pronounced issues with those within the Faire, that doesn't mean he's unaware of those that do. For the most part it's easy to see that there are some different subgroups forming, and Esa finds the drama is lesser when he stays among those where his friends are, rather than trying to circulate and maintain a cohesive Faire band experience.

"That seems fair," Esadowa agreed, chuckling softly at Nahale's seemingly instant promise to do nothing more than laugh at him if he poked something dangerous and then had to live with the consequences. "I'll do my best not to upset anyone, but particularly the fierce artisan ladies. I know just how dangerous that can be, considering the Cheshires."

When the topic shifts to the stranger they see walking about, Esadowa finishes fiddling with his wares and then turns his attention back to the stranger again. He does take a moment to thoroughly consider the odds that the stranger is kin, but he just doesn't see enough similarity for this stallion to be a product of his father's wandering ways. If he were from an older generation he would likely have the Silver Bell ornaments that mark their clan allegiance, but those also seem to be in absence.

"Do you need to tell them that there's possibly someone here to see her?" Esa suggests in a quiet murmur, his amusement tempered by the soft edge of a rising concern. "I can start up a conversation to buy you some time to head toward one of the Ladies. Best to give her a heads up, in case she doesn't wish to be found."

Rather than allowing Nahale time to argue, Esadowa steps sideways to somewhat intercept the stranger but gives the blue alicorn mare that is browsing a winning smile. "Good afternoon, and welcome. I have varieties of honey and honeycomb, as well as some jams and preserves. Let me know if I can answer questions."

Esadowa Wordcount: 422

Quote:
"Pardon me," the sky colored alicorn mare murmurs as she steps to one side and then the other so the large dusk-colored stallion can weave his way around herself and the other shoppers beginning to gather on the avenue. She steps closer to the booth when the opportunity presents itself, eager to find at least a few things she can bring back to friends and family to give them an idea of what the Faire had to offer. There were already a few things tucked away into her bag, trinkets mostly, though there was a fine woven scarf from some of the fiber artists that she couldn't wait to gift. Aside from that and some glass charms, there were some wildflower seeds she wanted to introduce to the meadow in the hopes of adding to the variety there.

"A pleasure," Tsiuri Kahu smiled gently to the star and aurora marked flutter stallion when he spoke to her, nodding her understanding as she browsed the jars. Considering Anselm and how it might be nice to bring him some tasty things, she picked two of the jars out and then fetched out some of the coins she carried for this purpose. "The Wildflower Honey and Boysenberry Jams sound lovely, if I could have a jar each?"

She carefully tucked away the wrapped jars into her travel bag when they were handed over, folding her wing back down over it and giving a grateful nod. "Thank you very much, and I hope the rest of your Faire goes well!"

Tsiuri is careful not to crash into the approaching Hippo'Kirin stallion when she darts away from the booth, dancing around him with an appeasing smile. "Excuse me, have a marvelous day."

While he's wondering about how he might find Telumendil in all this madness, Ecthelion notes that a few rather no-nonsense looking folks have elegantly slipped into motion at the sound of the scuffle the next aisle over. They're not converging on the location, so it is not particularly noticeable, but they disperse in a strategic pattern he recognizes from flanking maneuvers in the course of his training. There's some serious strategy and organization behind this event, and suddenly Thel realizes there's every chance he could just ask.

"That would make things simple, wouldn't it?" He says with amusement to himself, minding the draft stallion moving past one of the booths toward him as if he's also been summoned by the disagreement.

Ecthelion folds his wings close to his back and sways around the purple-hued Cerynei, weaving the next way a moment after to avoid a collision with an elegant little shades of sky colored alicorn mare. She could almost pass for Sky Court so Thel can't help but give her a second glance, but there's no hint of recognition or even a hesitation at the stars, so he dismisses the idea a moment later.

"Excuse me," Thel poses the question to the starry flutter stallion with an apologetic half-smile. "I don't mean to bother you but I was wondering... I am sure there's security and I suppose there might be a directory of vendors... But I'm searching specifically for a traveling mare that probably isn't either of those things. Do you suppose Security would be able to tell me if they had seen her?"

With a few final cheerful pleasantries extended at the close of business, the wine colored Uni-Flutter stallion known as Morien steps back into the busy avenues of the Faire. He moves away from his latest client with a substantial payment of gold marks he's once again eager to spend, and standing in the heart of the Faire means he's at the perfect place to do so.

The variety of wares available at the Faire seem limitless, and the cloud winged flutter has plans to gather supplies to carry and trade on his way back home. He already has a pre arranged order of honey and jam to collect from the Underland vendors, which he'll personally deliver to Journey's End on his route. Odds are they'll arrive in time to be incorporated into the next round of pastries made by the bakers there, which should please the patrons greatly and help to further lighten up the bright atmosphere. If there are vendors with fresh or dried herbs, he plans to spend a few marks on those as well; the dried herbs will be easy keepers and mix-ins for the Inn and he knows a certain gardener that would be delighted by some fresh herbs to add to her edible landscape.

He mentally makes a note to stop by the dye-maker and fiber artists, knowing another artist in need of dyed thread, but finds his attention waylaid by something of a flutter of activity. It seems the action is focused past Esadowa's booth, a couple aisles over, so Morien moved toward the Underland vendor with the intent to obtain news or gossip along with his order.

"Esa!" He greeted brightly. "What's the news?"

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. As was to be expected the Faire was abuzz with activity. There were sellers and buyers, dancers and singers and various entertainers darting this way and that, everyone milling about in a whirl of colors and wings and scales and tails. More details than one even cared to count, most days. The blend of breeds and traits was such a dizzying combination that truly no one stood out particularly, there were simply too many different types to find anyone especially strange. A Kalona Unicorn cross hardly even registered on the list of dangers, considering the variety of claws and fangs on display.

Even if (and when) the draft stallion in question cared to lay his ears back and curl his lip to flash fangs at an uppity flutter stallion that seemed determined to start some sort of altercation. It made the prancey little thing second guess himself, which was good enough for Widow’s purpose. He gave the younger stallion another warning look and then shouldered past, snapping his tail to telegraph his annoyance and discourage any follow up conversation.

All sorts were welcome here, even the Shifters, as long as they remained peaceful. This of course meant that they were Charmed more often than not, but that didn't mean they weren't still dangerous; as truly everyone had the ability to be so under some circumstances or others. Hence the presence of Security and an information network that worked at a level of speed and efficiency that approached startling.

Rather disinterested in most souls outside those of his herd, Widowmaker nevertheless had enough manners to make way for the dainty alicorn mare that pranced past, her coat all shades of the sky. He inclined his head in a nod in response to her polite fluttering thanks, but kept on his path, moving past some socializing vendors and a Talbuk Cery stallion that looked like security. The sight of a seed vendor has him drawing to a halt, inspecting the offered packets with interest. This was just the sort of thing he rather imagined a lady would enjoy.
