16. Things start off slow, but you manage to catch a few strands of Thread. For the most part, you realize that things seem to be a mix of quiet followed by moments of stress. You catch a solid tangle, but another few strands fall through. You find it's tricky when there are entire groups falling overhead together, and you find yourself struggling to make the right choice on what to catch. In one instance, you almost singe a wingmate by forgetting your airspace. Rookie mistake! [If you roll this 3 times, you actually find yourself burning a wingmate. Quote a weyrling and have them take -5 HP from burn damage! The counter then resets.]

Slidrianth was not ready for this day. Though he outwardly tried to project the cool, self-assured poise befitting a bronze, his mind was a mess. He hardly wanted to be blooded, much, less risk death! Oh, it was their duty and all of that, but that was why they had other colors to do this mess for them!

D'zrak was fully aware of his dragon's anxiety, his own eagerness to fight diminished only a touch as a result. We'll be fine. Relax! He thought, affectionately thumping Sli's shoulder.

You relax! He snapped back, suppressing the urge to snarl when His snickered at the admittedly less-than-scathing retort. Oh, but it was time, and he reluctantly fell into formation....

As they both began to settle into the rhythm, Slidrianth flamed down a few writhing strands. It was difficult when they fell in huge clumps, and as they chose a target, he nearly singed a wingmate! Luckily, no damage was done, and D'zrak sent waves of reassurance before the bronze could grow too anxious about it.

19-20. It's a bit of a mixed bag here. To start, your dragon bit his or her tongue while you were feeding them stone and now there's just a constant residual ache in both your mouths. While you've managed to spit flame at the Enemy and char it into dust, you clearly need to work on your firestone toss because you wrenched an arm muscle during your last throw. Ow. To make matters worse, you wound up missing a formation change, and almost had a mid-air collision with a fellow weyrling. [If this is your 3rd time rolling, you take -4 HP from all the tongue-biting and arm wrenching, and quote a Weyrling to take -5HP from damage.]

Slidrianth's mouth throbbed from where he had accidentally chomped on his own tongue, which wasn't helping with his overall mood. Admittedly, he had done quite well at burning Thread so far! D'zrak had lobbed more stone ahead--and jerked with surprise at something twinged sharply in his arm. Both rider and dragon were distracted--and the redhead swore audibly as they nearly slammed into another rider due to a formation change. Shard it all.

It was time. Ever since they'd Betweened on their own, their group had held a certain tension - or so it had seemed to Martirae, who admittedly had been spending more and more time with the older Goldriders to prepare herself and Anakumath for a different role. While Anakumath did her best to soothe any nerves she could while Marty did her last checks on their equipment - straps, flamethrower, riding gear - it still didn't feel like anybody besides perhaps Venandith was entirely certain in themselves.

You have full confidence in them, though, Martirae noted, and that means something. Anakumath thrummed softly as the woman secured herself in her riding straps. I'll have to hope it is, she agreed nervously. There was only so much time to worry before they both had to hold tight to the instructions of their own wing. Oh, how she hoped nobody would need catching. While both she and Martirae would hold tightly to not attempting to do so themselves, the mere thought made her a little nervous.

Hold onto your nerves and I'll keep you safe, alright? Martirae gently ran a hand along one of her headknobs, offering more tender reassurance before it was time to take off. It was time to meet Thread before it came for them.

Things below their beloved clutchsiblings were...quiet for now, but Martirae kept vigilant for now. There was no reason to think this was normal yet!

All it took was any small cry from above to bring yellow into Anakumath's eyes, all concern through her very wingtips. Martirae leaned into her lifemate mentally, offering all the support she could. They are still fine, love. It was still early, however, and there was still so long to go. They'd both have to get used to the long flights - perhaps part of why they weren't cleared for catching yet. They had stamina to build first.

They had to get the eyes for it.

Spotting a wayward strand of thread falling through the higher ranks, Martirae nudged Anakumath towards it just close enough so they could burn it down. It felt better than waiting, waiting.

Another poorly timed chomp and another fouled throw. The pair was quickly losing focus, and another missed formation change nearly ended in disaster. They quickly righted themselves yet again, but Slidrianth's eyes were streaked with yellow and grey. Not only did he hurt, but they looked like fools. This was awful!

1.Things are actually quiet. Very quiet. In fact, you find yourself flying mostly dead space. Nothing seems to come your way and you find yourself thinking a lot. Just you and your thoughts. Is this really Threadfall? Somehow you thought it was going to be a lot more dangerous, or at least, with less time to think. Things do pick up with a few gusts and you and your dragon manage to flame down some stray Thread successfully, without missing any filaments. Yes! Not too bad at all! Unfortunately, the silence grips you once more and it's just you and your dragon. Boredom [If this is your third time rolling this prompt, you will become less-vigilant. Your next roll will double damage =or=, if no damage taken, will result in a -3 HP if White, -5 HP if green, -6 HP if blue, - 7 HP if brown,or - 8 HP if bronze

O....kay. Things had been rough there, briefly, but it was mostly due to their own mistakes. In fact, Thread hadn't even been much of a problem so far. A sudden gust of wind blew some silvery strands their way, and Slidrianth easily disposed of them with a fiery belch. Both he and D'zrak were starting to relax, and if his rider was impatient, the bronze was perfectly content to not be in the thick of things!

Martirae's neck may have hurt, but she wanted to rub the soreness out of Anakumath's - the poor thing was going to hurt it staring up so fervently! The higher up they got, the more the winds seemed to blow, however, and one particularly strong gust caught both rider and gold mostly unprepared. It wasn't as if Marty's training had prepared her to read the weather, after all.

While the gold did cheep slightly in surprise as she was pushed by the wind, she was at least strong enough to fight it and stay in her position without too much strain. Oof!

5-6. Your adrenaline is pumping and you feel fit to fight! Whatever fears or worries you have, you’re absolutely ready to take the world by storm. Your dragon wheels and dives, and you wind up successfully flaming some strands. Of course, you also find yourself suddenly dangling in some mighty precarious positions as your dragon avoids getting smacked by a tangle of Thread. The straps you so valiantly worked on are the only thing keeping you from plummeting to your death. Let’s hope Thread doesn’t latch onto those thick leathers… and if they do, that your backup security straps work! Thankfully, as the fight continues, you focus on what’s important--flaming down Thread. If white, green, or blue, you wind up saving one of your wingmates thanks to your impressive quick wingwork! Damage Save Quote a wingmate and save them from the damage they would take. If brown or bronze, you play a bit of hero. Knowing your dragon should be able to take a hit, you can Self-Sacrifice. Quote a wingmate and take their damage instead. While it may hurt you, it also means you were able to save the day.

After that slog of boredom, Thread began to pummel them from above. Slidrianth had to twist into a tight corkscrew to avoid being caught in the thick of it. The world whipped by at dizzying speeds, and D'zrak clung tightly to his straps with a fierce sort of joy. Slidrianth's smug pleasure at his deft maneuver radiated through their bond, and he flamed down a large clump before bugling in triumph.

The wind had distracted Martirae just long enough that by the time she'd looked upwards again the clump of thread was right upon her and Anakumath. While not wanting to be hasty, Martirae also knew that she needed to get them both moved and after securing their new location, they jumped.

It hadn't been as close as she'd thought, however, and Martirae's lack of experience showed as they appeared again a small distance from their Wing. Are you alright? she asked, more concerned about how her beloved was feeling than that they looked as inexperienced as they actually were right then. In answer, she was given a warm surge of love before they returned to their position.
