"He needs to rest," Arlie told her with a slight shake of her head. All of them did. W'ill looked like he'd had much better days, and she couldn't imagine how bad she looked. Even Alegriath's snow white hide was grayer than usual.

Both her dragon and her roommate were trying so hard to stay positive...But Arlie felt too tired to join in.

Sensing a lull in the conversation, Alegriath went on, < So, what wing are you guys in? >

Lament

Whether Alegriath woke up from a dream, the pain, or Bossuth's voice was hard to tell. She had been twitching slightly even before her cousin reached out, probably gamboling in one of her fantasies. One eye cracked open slowly as she checked on her rider--fast asleep, thank Faranth--before noticing that there were visitors.

< Oh! Hullo, cousin, R'iz! > Her voice was sleepy, but her eyes shown blue and purple as both opened fully; only a few streaks of faint gray swirled about thanks to the pain. < Did we fall asleep on you? Oops! Medicine's funny like that. It's pretty cozy here if you wanna cuddle~ >

Whispers in the Dark

He wasn't an overly sentimental creature, was Samedith, but after the deaths of Eskharath and Aviforth, he was striken by the fact of mortality. And just how quickly their lives could be lost. All at the blink of an eye, their individual lights could get snuffed out. And not just because of thread. Something as simple as a moment of inattention or loss of focus... And mortality was something he wasn't ready to face. He wanted to believe that he was immortal. That his siblings and cousins would live forever, though it had been proven that they were all fragile. Frail. Mortal. And in their first threadfall, one of the brightest lights he knew was almost snuffed out.

It had taken him time to get up the nerve to go and visit Alegriath in the Healer's wing. Of course, he also had to wait until a time when she wasn't besieged by guests and visitors, and when she wasn't asleep. It took some doing, but he finally found just the right time.

It wasn't easy for him to do. But he made his way to see his favorite cousin, sticking to the shadows as was his habit. Cousin, are you up for some company?

Whispers in the Dark

Alegriath had been considering incredibly important questions, things more important than the meaning of life itself such as...What was she going to do about Turnover gifts this time?? Being stuck in the infirmary made things sooooo much worse, and she'd had to assure Arlie not to feel guilty about them both being unable to shop. Really, it shouldn't have been bothering Alegriath at all--what could ever ruffle the white's feathers?--but being stuck in one place constantly, needing medicine and bandages changed and hide checked and scraped...All of that was a lot even for someone like her. And adulthood was making her think of more things than ever beyond her limited scope of games and fun and cheer.

Constant pain didn't help either, though she'd never tell anyone. When did things get so hard...?

At Samedith's voice, Alegriath blinked owlishly and whipped her head about until she finally noticed him in his usual cloak of shadows, her eyes bright with surprise and delight. < Cousin Sam-E! > she trilled, sitting up and flapping her wings slightly. It was an inviting motion as much as it was a means to help balance herself, as she had almost tried to get up without thinking. < Of course!! I'll always have time for you! But are you gonna stick to darkness again? It's a lot warmer over here in the light, you know. I can hide you if you really want. >

Water she could do. Iathe moved at once, carefully retrieving some to bring back to her fellow rider. "We got off pretty lightly," She said, remembering how furiously they'd fought. "And we're glad you're both okay." For a time, it had been debatable if Alegriath would pull through. And if she hadn't... privately, Iathe wasn't sure Arlie would have been able to survive the loss. Shards knew she didn't think she could, in her shoes.

Low, irritated sounds continued to work in her throat, but Skerath shifted slightly to better help that wing stay spread across her back. Though she grunted dismissively and said little, quietly basking in the warmth and love that radiated constantly from her small sister. I'm surprised she didn't fall off. The green said irritably, but her words lacked heat. The winds had been nearly as ferocious as Thread itself, and many a dragon suffered from sprain wings by the time Fall was done.

Skerath's muzzle wrinkled in distaste at the joke, clearly not appreciating it as Alegriath did. Dancing? As though you're graceful enough for it, three limbs or four. Best to leave that foolishness to humans.

I don't know. You seem a little too...eager. Ingonth raised and turned his head a little, as if he could admire his own jawline, and three seconds later he said, Okay, it's Skerath and Venandith. You persuaded me. He whipped back to face her, his eyes sparkling as brightly as hers. Isn't that gross?
