Vel'sere Desert

Baradier walked through the desert and spotted a few jackals trying to surround a group of people. 'Hmmmm I should probably help them.' He thought to himself while stringing an arrow. "Prepare to die." He said as he shot hitting one of them in the shoulder. "Hmph I missed...."

As a centaurian arrow wings through the air the pack leaders ears p***k up sensing the danger. It's too late as it hits one of his underlings barely injuring it (they seem strangely resiliant for being half starved). Knowing their chances of a quick and silent kill are over the lead jackal howls as the wind kicks up to great intensity ushering in a full blown sand storm. Taking advantage of the cover the lead jackal splits three of his underlings towards the shooter as he and the rest of his pack charge in on oliza, kanji, and arya. The storm is blinding with winds fast enough to make sand cut skin. The sands kicked up are dense and oppressive; but even more dangerous the heat and light of the dessert are weighing heavily on our troupe they could be in serious danger in less than an hour if they don’t find suitable cover.

Baradier prepared another arrow to shoot once he got a clear shot at the pack, Not realizing the three sent after him until the emerged from the dust Ready to claw him apart. 'Damn, I should have known a few would be sent after me!' He thought as he lifted up his front legs and kicked one in the chest as it lunged at him and hitting another in the face with his bow. He turned to kick at the third but it was to late as he felt it's fangs dig into his unprotected side.

As two of the three jackals sent after Baradeir lay mildly stunned the third bites harder down on his side you can hear flesh tearing as it makes a low menacing growl digging in it’s front claws as well. By this time the other two are back on their feet and are circling slowly around are centaurian hero you can see hatred and a deep burning hunger in their eyes.

"You'll regret not going for my throat." Baradier shouted as he grabbed his shield and slammed it down on the jackal digging into his side and slashed his sword at the two about to attack, cutting one just below the eye.

The three jackals jump snap and dance lazily around Baradeir barking yipping and growling. They begin mixing in intervals of feints and high medium and low attacks trying keeping him of balance. Finally one of them gets in another lucky shot and claws into Baradiers right front ankle. It causes more bleeding than pain or injury but you get the sense that the jackals know patience. They step up their pace slightly trying to out maneuver his blows. The sand storm begins to wear at our heroes’ wounds as well but the centaur race have trained for such combat since child hood so this fight is quite from decided.

"Didn't your mother tell you not to play with your food?" Baradier asked and started preparing to cast a spell. "That was your third and final mistake." He said and jumped into the air. "Avalanche!" He shouted as he landed on the ground and the jackals were buried in 2 feet of snow which melted into the sand making them unable to move as he quickly killed them while they tried desperatly to dig their way out. "Your lucky it wasn't hotter today, for it would have dried making it even harder to get out, but either way your dead." He said as he walked away to help the others.

As baradier trots off he does not see the three jackals begin to completely disolve into the sand their bodies melding with the sand and disapearing.

As our hero joins the others a great shadow flies swiftly overhead to the east. The winds are howling now. The sands able sheer flesh clean and the heat waves coming off the desert floor are clearly visible. The whole battle field is beggining to feel like a choking searing inferno.

Baradier used his sheild to block his face from the sand. "What's with all the intense wind and heat all of a sudden?" He asked himself while still slowly making his way to help the others.

The wind and heat have been steadily growing in intensity the whole time.
because of the dangerous weather and intens heat that can arise here even a native such as a centaur eventually knows to take cover.
The desert is. It has no compassion. It takes no sides.
Those who survive the desert learn that well.
Still most storms never reach worse conditions than this. You guys just happen to stumble into a bad storm this is the kind of storm that CAN take a life if your careless. The heat is going to get worse before it gets better though. (im not trying to get you guys honest! However weather conditions,
lack of water or shelter, food, bleeding wounds, illness, heat exauhtion. all that and other things that would make the list too long will apply here.) monsters and villans are not your only threat here. remember that.

*Starts coughing violently* "whe-where do we go?"

Oliza spun around as the first jackel was thrust towards her, she barely had enough time to draw her sowrd as she sliced into it, her red hair spilling out of the lose poney. She scanned the area as she let herself disolve into the sand, becoming one with her surroundings. She took this time to transform, coming out as a beautiful ink black jackel. Her golden eyes shimmering like the Egyptian God Isis. She stepped out of the cloud and ran with the others, she'd shock them soon anyways...

With olizas' new senses she can vaguely make out the fact that these jackals are somehow not right, though even with her altered perceptions she can’t place exactly what it is that tells her this but it makes her fur stand on end. Something in the air smells that none of this is quite how it first appears. Oliza can also smell the subtle odor of male centaur blood aproaching her direction. (baradier did not witness her transformation.)
