Thanks! I can't stop starring at him lol.I can't wait to get a better pic. He's like a shiny silvery blue, with blood red fins and black butterflying. Then to top it off. He actually has stripping on his dorsal fin. I'm super happy I got him. Oddly the solid common betta's were in the betta bowls and this guy, a marble (I think it's called) and another bicolor (blue with white butterfly) were in the plant tanks. I only knew to look there cause I'd seen betta's when I was plant shopping.

Zuko is a Dragon wink Marbles are white, or mostly white, with colored spots, and the spots grow over times and change the bettas entire apperence.

HAHAHA! So true. It's not so much that he doesn't WANT to eat, it might be partly due to the platties eating everything before he even realizes it's food. Or SEES it lol. The hawaiins really like their food...

Akari, uploaded this for you. Made it years ago lol

And even though the movie failed, I can't wait/ hope they make the rest. I would love love love, to see Zuko confronting his dad and then taking on his sister. That fight was EPIC. Imagine it, NON cartoon lol.

He'll learn to be ther first one to the food. You could also put them on a schedual, and feed at the same time every day, and he'll wait for you to put the food in. Or you can do like me, and have a routine before you feed. Like lights on, then 15 minutes later, feed. Something like that.

Sushi use to ASSUME food was coming if he saw me fiddling near the tank. I swear he KNEW when I picked up the fish food. He start spazing out. The platties come to the top if I open the hood. Except for shy, no one seems to mind me putting my hand in the tank. They swirm around seeing if it contains food.

My fish nibble on me when I stick my hand in the tank lol Link tried to eat me (4 inch Betta attacking your hand actually kinda hurts LOL).

My fish always assume theres food involved, even if they just ate 5 minutes ago XD

Quick question. What are all you doing for water changes? Everyone does weekly right? But like 50%? 80%?

I've been doing 80 (or what I guess is 80) It's a bit hard to refill I find. Like my 2G I would use an ice tea container. This tank I use buckets but I have to be so careful not to pour too fast. So today I got the bucket up on my desk, raised it with some text books and doing a reverse siphon. Which takes way longer but at least I can sit and do wtv.

Also, charging the GoPro now gona send it in the tank and see if I can get some good video.

I do weekly 50% water changes. I may do more depending on the amount of waste in the gravel though.

What about a water changing system? I have then Aqueon version of a Python (hooks to the sink at one end, the other end sucks the water out of the tank). After the water is sucked out, you close the valve that sends the water out, and open the tap on the sink, and fill the tank in one shot. You have to remember to add the water conditioner before doing this, but its fairly easy.

aha! I dunno why I thought everyone did 70-80% I think 50% sounds reasonable. My tank is a lil under stocked if anything. And I test the water after a week or more and there is hardly even a trace of nitrates and no ammonia or nitrites.

Because its planted, and your Pleco is still a baby. Once he grows up abit, then you'll have to do a bit larger water changes. Right now you could probly get away with 25-30% every week, then move up to 50% when Shy gets bigger.

eek That's a lot less than the 80 I was doing. Do snails have a bioload? Or do they help with it?

Snails do have a bioload when they start to pop up everywhere, and when they get big. What I do is clean the gravel then let the syphon sit in the tank for a few more minutes to suck up some extra water.
