Who is Mbalamwezi?
A mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she's not as old as she sounds, and she's lively and kicking. She doesn't see much of her first litter, but Velum, of her second litter, comes around to be babied. She can't help herself and doesn't turn her daughter away very much. She's strongly considering having another litter to keep Velum from coming around.

Who is Msafiri?
Msafiri was a serial traveler, wanting to see everything and meet everyone. She sustained herself on knowledge. Until... Her wanderings brought her to the desert where she had little experience and was struggling to survive. It was either join the Motoujami or die.
