Mala perked up, hearing some crumbling off in the distance. "Van? Are the buildings collapsing on their own or shall we go investigate?"

"I don't know. This may very well be some sort of karma getting ready to bite us in the a** after the good fortune of Larai coming home." Van said, hoping it was crumbling ruins and not in the particular mood to get up again and leave cuddle time now.

"If it is I'll fry it with a firebolt." Mala said, trying to sound chipper once more.

"If you'd like I'll go investigage." Larai offered.

((That Caramel Swirl? Totally (booyah, did it right this time!) italicized the whole time. I don't know what you're talking about. ))

"Just be careful. Lord knows your mother needs any more panic attacks." Van said stroking Mala's hair a bit in a comforting manner.

"Sweet F**K that was close!!" Kai said, staring at the massive pile of rubble on the ground he had previously occupied.

"Don't worry, I'll be just fine." Larai said, grinning broadly at her parents before heading off to investigate.

Mala kissed Van on the cheek, smiling faintly.

"Sorry for putting unpleasant images in your head." Van said, giving Mala another kiss on the head in apology.

"I'm sorry for letting my imagination run so wildly." Mala muttured in reply, smiling a little more at Van.

Larai walked casually to where she heard the crumbling come from. Her steps and breathing were utterly silent.

"Here's hoping grandma doesn't care about her den anymore..." Kai said, standing on top of the rubble pile and looking down at the covered entrance to what was once Marianne's lair.

"Well, well, well! Looks like I don't have to give back your clothes after all!" Larai teased Kai, approaching slowly with a smug little grin.

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

"I'm still not forgiving you for trying to con me over before." Kai said glaring at her rather flatly. "I wouldn't have done it in the first place if you didn't insist on going around in that stupid disguise."

"Trying? Or succeeding?" Larai said with a playful wink. "On that other comment, what can I say? I look pretty damn amazing as a dancer girl now don't I?"

"Not with those love handles of yours you don't." Kai joked with a grin as he hopped down off the pile of rubble. Said insult was a total lie of course.

"Love handles? Ha!" Larai chuckled. "Says the scrawny bumpkin who'd get pinned down by even a flea!" she joked back.

"You wish! We're half god, remember? I don't have to look like I've got muscles to kick a**!" Kai said easily as he walked past her towards the house.

"Neither do I, for that matter." Larai replied, walking alongside Kai now.
