Amy's eyes lit up when he admitted he would like a pet as well. She clapped her hands together on reflex, but she winced and hissed when pain shot through her as her bandaged hands hit together.

She gritted her teeth and said softly, "Please pretend you didn't notice that..."

She forced a laugh out and then shook her head. She tried to ignore the pain for right now. It would slowly subside again. "Uh, but I think it's sweet that you want a pet, too. Tell you what. If I ever get one, you can help me take care of it, if you want. You know, it can be like a pet that would stay with me, but you could stop over and see it whenever you wanted. A pet between friends."

She shrugged and looked down at her bandaged hands. Maybe she was being really silly right now. She knew how badly she wanted a pet, though, so if she got one, she'd like to help someone else feel better by sharing her pet if she could.

She shook her head and then smiled back up at Dec. "Well, I love electric guitars, and so I'm really happy that you know how to play one of those, too! You'll have to let me know when your next show is."

She leaned back in her chair and propped up her feet on one of the chairs next to Dec. "Have you written any songs? If you have, I'd love to hear one of those."

[[Hehe, not really. Technically he's not employed as a music teacher, like I'm not in RL. Music teacher jobs are getting axed everywhere. Oh and thank you for the opportunity to show off. -riffles through notebook to find one of my better songs-]]

{{You actually write your own songs? Cool! biggrin Are you a musician in a band, too? And I know what you mean about music teaching jobs getting axed. Teachers all over are getting axed. My cousin is one and while she's in high demand, she has even more work to do b/c of all the teachers that are getting let go or paid to go into retirement early. She even has to switch to high school when she's been teaching in middle school for years. I wish schools weren't getting rid of the art and music classes/activities in schools. They help kids in school and let them be creative!}}

-Checks the guitar's tuning- One of mine? Well if you insist. -thinks for a moment- All right, here's one called The Inevitable.

-He starts with a light gentle guitar solo, almost fading as soon as it's played. Then Dec begins to sing. A warm deep sound, soft without sounding breathy and weak-

-a rhythmic strumming finally resolves -

My pen overhears these lines as I impress the paper...

-Dec lets his low voice fade away while the guiter winds its was to a eerie end.-

Amy had listened intently to the song Dec played for her. The music the guitar sent out was soft and beautiful, and Dec's voice was the perfect compliment to it. He had a wonderful voice and she could easily see why so many people would want to hear him perform.

The words to his song were beautiful, but they were also sad. The lyrics touched her heart and also painted a picture for her in her mind.

When he was done, Amy's eyes were watery, though she wasn't crying. She smiled at him and she almost started clapping before she stopped herself, remembering her bandages. So, she simply tapped her fingertips together lightly in a mini applause.

"That was absolutely beautiful, Dec. Thank you very much for sharing that with us..."

Amy looked around the bar to see everyone else's reactions, but she noticed that they were alone now. She blushed slightly and looked back at Dec.

"Well I guess just me, then. We're alone. Do you ever play that song at one of your shows?"

She smiled softly. "Well, maybe when I make it to one of your shows, you could slip that song into your set. I'd love to be able to heart it again."

She noticed Dec stretching out her neck and she started to move her legs from the chair next to Dec and put them on the ground. "Do you need something for your neck and shoulders? I'd offer to give you a massage, though I've never given one before, to repay you for the one you gave me last week, but obviously I can't use my hands. I think I saw some heat patches in the first aid kit when Brat got it out. You can put those on. Would you like me to get them for you?"
