"You've told me yourself that you understand what Epsilon is doing. That being said, I'm making you an offer; you can stay here at the Resistance--whether it's to aid us or not--and I'll give the order that you are not to be pursued by any member of the crew. However I get the feeling that your siblings will not be as understanding. If you decide to stay here I offer what little protection I can give from the Epsilon Corporation. But it is your job to make the other Delta systems understand their place in the order of things, to tell them what you've already figured out for yourself. Do that, and you can stay here for as long as the Resistance is alive." he paused, reaching into his pocket and answering the phone when it rang. "Sally-" he didn't have time to respond before she hung up on him. He stared at the phone for a moment, then pushed off of the wall, closing the distance between them until he was at her side. Ashes would find in in a few minutes, and he would have some explaining to do. He wasn't sure whether he would be safer locked in the cage with Omega, or with her between him and the weapons specialist. He had a suspicion that the answer was neither. When it came to Ashes, you were never safe until she calmed down.

"You had better answer quickly, we'll be getting a very rude interruption soon."

One day or another

Ashes slammed several random people walking past her into the wall near her. "Have you seen Egan?" She questioned, and they pointed towards Nyx's area due to fear of Ashes. She pulled out her pistol and the people in the halls parted like the Red Sea. "EGAN!" Ashes yelled loudly, stomping down the halls. She burnt a hole through three more walls as she walked, firing off her gun. Still a bit dizzy from her head injury earlier, she stumbled down the halls. The girl disliked being sent on a wild goose chase, and everyone knew that. You didn't trick Ashes because she had nothing against burning you to bits. "EGAN!" She yelled again as she drew near to the cell area. She was almost to the room when she had to stop and hold her head for a minute. She felt like she was going to fall over. She leaned against the wall and held her head, waiting for the room to stop moving.

And I want to be a part of that fire.

The Omega

"So you ask me to tell my siblings that I'm abandoning the very company that created us? Honestly its easier to fake my death then try to send me to explain that to them. Alpha would kill me on the spot." She murmured. They would stop looking for her if she were killed, as there would be no reason to retrieve the body. "Besides, I've tried for years to hint that the company is changing and they refused to listen. Soon the company will clearly demonstrate new changes and they will begin to realize on their own. I believe it would be healthier for everyone in that manner." Nyx said.

Nyx sensed his nervousness and then cocked her head. "You want to use me as a shield from another human?" She asked. She heard Ashes yelling, but Nyx didn't fear humans, so it made little sense why he should fear another human. "Even if you leave, she will catch you at this point. I could restrain her without hurting her...." Nyx offered, knowing the girl was too close now, and if Egan tried to sneak by, she'd spot him.

I don't want to do this anymore....

She nodded at his assumption."I've gotten the surface down, there's something wrong with the underground area. Though, if they were trying to be sneaky-they should've shut down the underground fr the whole city. Silly humans" She scoffed She listened to his plan with bated breath. "I appreciate you trying to get their generator for me, but I really don't think we should split up. That's how they got Nyx, and we don't know how many of them there may be." She quieted as he shooed the others away. When he told her his secret, even her face softened. She put her hand on his arm, giving it the squeeze she'd seen done times before. "Apologies for caring too much are unnecessary. I would be more alarmed had you reacted within normal behavioral patterns. Our job is in fact something to be stressed over and it is not punishable to care. Serrenedy smiled at him, the double advice having been made obvious. "When does Aaron arrive?" She asked at once. If a secret had been told to her it was not to be addressed past that moment.


The car had been taken in and Sally resumed her scouting duties. As everyone inside was on the lookout, this would be a perfect time to practice her roof jumping. Armed with a new fedora that completely covered her hair, the fourteen year old observed the ants of society swarming around through her binoculars. Then she saw something that made her blood run cold. On a building top, there was a reflection from the sun...a pink reflection. She bit her lip in terror and ran back to base Nyx's words echoing in her ears. "you're the only one besides Betta I've met with naturally pink hair."Sally's legs couldn't run fast enough as she dashed not directly to base, but circumventing it in a complex display of choreography even though there was no way she could have been seen. After she felt she'd gotten the imaginary monkey off her back, she returned to tell Egan in person, not trusting her cellphone signal with even a chance of her being around.

Egan took this in. He wasn't about to criticize Nyx on her obvious knowledge of the delta systems. She was their sibling, and therefore knew them better than anyone at the Resistance ever could. "Alright. We'll do it your way."

He looked at her when she mentioned being used as a shield. "Is that what I'm doing..?" he said, and looked towards the door. He shook his head at her suggestion. There was no running from Ashes. There was no point in dragging this out, either. "I'll return. Or not." he said mildly, and left the room, door clicking shut behind him. He paused when he saw Ashes leaning against the wall. She didn't look so well. He reached out, placing his hands on either side of her and leaning in, studying her face. "You called..?"

Ashes looked at Egan solidly, startled at his appearance. She had not expected him just come out and speak to her. Angrily, she shoved her knee up, kneeing him where the sun never shines. Her eyes were hard as she swooned yet again, and she took a deep breath. "Dammit, Egan, you know I don't like being sent on wild goose chases!" She said brashly, looking straight at him. The girl was obviously dizzy due to her head injury. Ashes stared at Egan, feeling herself almost fall.

And I want to be a part of that fire.

Sally scrambled into the hall, tears in her eyes. She panted a bit, trying to catch her breath. "Here...her fa-lt...evil...hair...roof. Those were the only words that escaped from the child as she leaned against the wall. When she finally got her wind she took a deep breath to regale the whole story. "We need ta get outta of here-we're in ter-ble dang-r and...Egan...whatcha doin?"She looked at her leader in quite obvious pain. "Wha..." It was then that she noticed Ashes. She blushed and crept into the wall, crushing the brim of her new fedora as she did so. "Hi...Ashes...how's your head?" this was coupled with nervous laughter.

Egan grunted when Ashes' knee made contact with his groin. "Yes." is all he responded, and when Sally showed up he let her speak with Ashes, taking the time to recover before he began issuing orders to passersby. "Strengthen security around the perimeter. Have my team ready on the roof, and someone get Doc; Ashes needs to go lay down for a while"

He straightened, reaching out to remove the fedora from Sally's head and ruffled her hair. "Nice job, do me a favor and keep your eyes out front?" With that, he lifted Ashes up into his arms bridal style, beginning to walk down the hall. "I figured that by this time you'd be ready to rest for a while. Wouldn't want you blacking out during anything important."
