"I'll say this again, 'Yay me'." Verin frowned, displeased. He examined his brand again and sighed. "Whatever, it's not like anybody's going to see it anyway." The circular scar was hidden completely by his watch when he slipped it back on and he pulled his glove's cuff up for extra measure. "So you know the dragon who I accidentally made flip his s**t earlier, Strider?"

Elistral watched Demios take the lead but hesitated to follow him after he'd disappeared into the blackness. She'd shuddered as soon as the dragon turned his eyes from her as an unpleasant memory came back to her from over a hundred years ago, and she felt her stomach lurch soon after. "I will make sure to stay away from the shadows then. I had an encounter in with poisonous spiders once." At Demios's call, she left Jake's side without a backward glance and walked carefully down the tunnel. The same awe that had come over him washed over her as she exited as he had. She turned in complete circles in place a few times with eyes wide. "Amazing...he was right..."

After figuring out that the large man in front of him had indeed been the same one from before, Rore escorted him to the inn. Although it would have been better to lead him to the jail he felt it would be impolite. Of course, the dragon-man would have plenty of guards near him to make sure that nothing went wrong and they'd run straight to Rore otherwise. After paying for a room for him, another courteous gesture, he left the inn and made his way to the gate. It was getting later and he was sure that his wife was wondering where he was by that time.

"Yes, I haven't talked to him much but I have eyes everywhere," Crow helped himself to a plate as Aleck messed with his tea and Sasha squirmed uncomfortably in her chair. He disregarded the vegetables and fruit in favor of meat, something he found tasted much better than anything else now. When the girl across from him, he'd taken the seat opposite of her, put her elbows on the table and then took them off he leaned one of his own elbows down and spoke again. "You mean after the battle, and after Garreth brought the some of the people from his village here? I did a good bit of research in the library so I know what you're talking about."

"Yes, but that can wait until we get back to my house. I have a few spells to weave to fix the room that was burnt." Strider offered Maxx and Verin his hands. "Whenever you're ready."

Demios had made sure to enter with Elistral, he didn't want to leave her waiting forever if Jake's figures were right. "Who was right? Me or Jake? I mean, this place is the most unworldly place i've ever seen and i've travelled with Strider and Jake."

Aleck put his tea down and picked up his fork, using it to cut off some ham from his plate. "Yes, my ancestors were the ones who ran the first carpentry business around here. We built most of the city back when it was just starting out. We started with a small house and grew over this long amount of time." Aleck put the ham in his mouth and slowly chewed it with a small amount of grace.

"I see, excuse me for asking. I was only curious." Sylvia put a spoon full of soup into her mouth and swallowed. "I can see how it could be a delicate topic."

Maxx took Strider's hand and held his breath, he wasn't sure he liked the idea of teleporting to much.

"Yeah, but it's okay, you were curious." Raven said also asking a spoon full of soup. "Yeah, it's weird to think about sometimes too.."

Sasha listened to Aleck while she poked at some fruit, spearing some fruit with her fork and took a bite. "That's cool," she said after she swallowed. "You seem to have a lot of family history, Aleck." She cut up some of her ham and took a bite of it when she was done talking.

"Yeah...I'm sorry about that, man." Verin said with sincerity. He scolded himself quietly as he grabbed Strider's forearm rather than his hand. The watch's properties should have been ingrained into his mind by now, which was strange considering he'd paid a pretty gold piece to have it fully examined by a magic-user rather than his friend.

"Jake." Elistral stepped out of the tunnel and turned her gaze from the strange sky back to Demios. "His description lacked any details but now I know what he was getting at. I would love to fully explore this place one day."

Crow yawned, a small sign of his quickly beginning boredom. "Yes, yes, I'm sure the dwarves appreciated the framework your family set up for them after the initial village became a town and then the city it is today. When does Sardain return? Surely you can sense him, the two of you were blooded on the same day much to the big guy's dislike."

Strider and the others disappeared with a small flash of purple light, reappearing in the living room of Strider's house. "Sylvi, we're back." Strider walked into the kitchen to see the two of them chatting. "Hey, I brought Maxx back if you want to see him, Raven." Sylvia looked at him, swallowing her soup. "How's Verin? Is he alright?" Strider was already heading to the burnt room when she spoke. "Yeah, he's fine. He has a neat little brand now though." Strider smiled as he entered the burnt room, lights and sounds comming from the door way.

Sardain burst into the door, his armor still on. "I'm right here. Sorry it took me so long. The ride was horrible." A butler was waddling after him, bowing as he entered the room. "I am sorry, my lord. He just let himself in." Aleck put up his hand to calm the butler. "No, it's alright, thank you Jeb, you may go." the small man bowed and then quickly closed the doors behind him. "Thank you. Truely I don't see why you need them so much. You would be fine on your own." Sardain lightly dropeed the orb directly in Crow's lap, not really looking at the half demon. "The 'Big Guy"'s package. One mage's orb."

"Let's wait until we adventure around before you say that. I can smell things that make my nose twitch in here. I don't like it. But the place is neat." Demios looked up, spinning in place to see everything. "But I say we get moving. I don't want something to come at us in such an open place. He did say it was dangerous here."

((I just jumped back to a previous post and realized that Sardain mentioned there was a drake that was supposed to be guarding that orb...Where'd it go? Also, opinions on a time skip soon?))

Crow looked down at the orb in surprise. It was an unassuming object, the same size as a crystal ball but with a strange, translucent, violet hue that drew the eyes in. He quickly looked away and placed a hand on it as Zeke's beady eye focused on the bright sphere. "Good. I didn't know he requested it but that's just as well." His crow stared at its reflection as he spoke and squawked harshly when he stood. The formalities were over. "I'll see you three in the morning, then. No, not just the knights. I'm sure our master will be just as interested in your "ward" like the orb, Aleck. I'll show myself out."

"Mm, so you say. I cannot sense anything here like I normally would. No minds, auras, or energies. In fact, I may be being blocked, but that's my guess," Elistral took the pack that she'd slung over her shoulder and slipped the children's book inside of it. She was reluctant to lose it. "That means you'll have to lead the way for now, wherever we're going."

"Just broadcast that, why don't ya." Verin grumbled. Rather than sticking around for any curious questions he grabbed his bag of belongings and headed for the front door. As he touched it, he paused and glanced back at the others. "I'm going to get a room at the inn for the night. I guess I'll see you guys in the morning."

"Rude as ever, I see." Sardain sat down in Crow's empty seat. "Sorry for intruding but it has begun to rain outside. I wanted to get in before I got too wet and muddy.

"No, it's alright. But I take it the orb capture went smoothly?" Aleck sat back in his seat, annoyed that Crow was being so rude. "I mean, no death traps or anything?"

"There was one on the door but we used the guy guarding it as an activator. Getting the orb wasn't the hard part, it was the escape that became hard. The drake that was guarding it as well wasn't distracted by the flash disks I used and came after us." Sardain accepted a cup of tea from a butler and drank it.

"Yeah, and i can't hear anything either. Something mischevious is toying with us I think, my smelling is gone too. Infact, none of my dragon transformations are working. I guess this is what Jake meant by it wouldn't let me." Demios looked himself up and down, not liking the fact that he was a normal human now. "Great, i'm human now."

"That's fine, stop by any time you want, we'll be here. Good night Verin." By now the sun was set and the town was lit with the lanterns and fires lining the streets.

Orcus trotted out of the woods covered in foliage, his clothes ripped by needles and creeper, his skin sweaty and his hands slightly bloodied up. He looked upon a gate. "I hope this is Salim, I hope this is Salim, I hope this is Salim." He repeated in the hopes that he hadn't lost himself in the woods and gone astray from the path to his target city. The fire just outside a ways gave him hope that it was, in fact the correct city. "Hello!" He yelled out as he leaned onto the gated entrance. "Might I get some assistance?"

It was very hard for Sasha to not mimic Crow as he left since he was being rude, so she settled herself so sip some her tea. She decided to stay quiet since she had been forgotten about by the Knights. She really wanted to read but she'd do that later, She listened to the knights conversation.

"Thanks, the boy can't do much without me." Raven said with a light laugh. Maxx stuck out his tongue. "I guess we should be going to." Raven got up, "Thank you both for your time. We had a good one."

"And we hope to maybe see you again before we have to set off." Maxx said when Raven finished.

((We'll do a time skip after everyone's settled for the night, okay guys?))

"What's wrong with being human?" Elistral chuckled and pecked him on the cheek. "If this place applies to me as well, then I'm far less powerful than I would be outside of it." She glanced around again, trying to get an idea of where to go. Perhaps they should have asked Jake which direction to point them in but it was too late now. The sun seemed to be in the middle of the sky at that time, noon, so that gave them half a day to make some progress. "However, I'm more concerned on the way we should head. I see some buildings in the distance that might prove useful."

Crow bounced the orb in his hand up and down very carefully, making sure that it didn't miss and end up falling on the ground. It didn't seem to be all that fragile but that was a chance that he wasn't going to take, especially if Eon wanted it. The old dragon was always a little temperamental, which was one of the reasons that the half-demon would wake him up in the morning rather than at this time. As he mused over that, his feet led him to the front door that he'd entered from. Zeke cawed at someone behind him as he placed his other hand on the doorknob. One of Aleck's butlers was dogging him and puffed to keep up. Annoying man. Crow placed a boot flat on the middle of a pedestal that proudly held up a vase and eyed the butler as he bustled closer. Then he pushed, and the decoration went tumbling to the floor where it shattered next to its pedestal that had thumped down. He laughed mockingly, the sound more like a caw, when the man stopped in place, shocked. Let him deal with that, Crow thought to himself as he stepped out and took wing.

Verin let himself out and headed towards the inn he was accustomed to. The streets were nearly empty at that time save for the occasional person walking or lighting a hanging lantern. There used to be candle lamps lining the streets, but he preferred the change to lanterns instead. It seemed more appropriate. Near the gate he spied someone stumbling out of the woods and calling for assistance. A nearby guard walked over and Verin couldn't help but slip into the shadows and overhear the conversation.
" 'Little evening walk in the woods?" The guard asked, his hand hanging comfortably close to his sword's hilt. "What can I do for you?"

Since he was too tired to give the guard a hairy eye outright, Orcus gave him a begrudging wince from his peripheral vision and hoped it was enough. "Yes, of course." He said with a huff. "Every night I rush into the woods with the finest clothes and the most expensive equipment I can find in an attempt to muck them up as much as possible." He raised his hands. "I also decidedly cut the palms of my hands and the tips of my fingers whilst I pull thorns so that the forest looks its finest." Orcus lowered his heavy hands. "And of course; let us not forget that at the end of my journey I approach a city I've never been to before only to yell for help." He motioned to the guard. "Do me a favour and drag me to some place so that I might rest while you go in search of Miss Faestra for me."
PostPosted: Wed Aug 15, 2012 7:35 pm
(('Guess nobody else is going to post.))

Verin silently watched the two talk, and secretly applauded the stranger's sarcastic reply. It was like his own use and it almost prompted the thought of tracking the man down later to commend him. Although, he sounded more like an elf than a man, as told by the lightness of his tone that the guard lacked in favor of a more gruff voice.
"The guard in turn let loose with a hearty guffaw before he shut his mouth and eyed the lighted windows concernedly. He was looking to see if he'd disturbed anyone with the noise. "Well, draggin' could be arranged but that'd defeat the purpose of our hospitality, now, wouldn't it? Faestra seems to keep odd company if ye ask me. The Ruffled Raven should suit you for lodging while I ask around for her."

A nod showed Orcus' agreement with the guard's plan and an awkward look along with it identified his inability to understand why the guard laughed. As he straightened himself out a query escaped him. "Did you find that funny? Surely anyone from my lands would have taken offence to my words, even underlings would have cringed. Of that, what did you find humourous guardsman?" He began to walk just a touch slower than in step with the guard. His day was a tiring one and it showed in his gait.
PostPosted: Sat Aug 18, 2012 8:19 am
The guard shrugged and put all thoughts that the stranger would be a dangerous one aside. If he had known of the one day siege that happened half a year ago, then he'd be assuring him that he was no enemy. But he didn't seem to, so in all likelihood the drow wasn't related to the dark elves that had joined into the attack. "Wherever your lands are they must be full of royalty or full of polite ways of speaking," he replied. "I did, and all of it. Unless your the type to actually run around like a maniac in the woods...Some people do that."
Behind the slow pair Verin moved even slower, keeping out of the lights that adorned the road. He wasn't sure why he did, and if he did he probably would continue, but the truth was that he was bored. He'd already paid for his own room at a different inn and boredom had sent him out into the night again in search of things to do.

"I can assure you that not even the lowliest of mer from where I come from would degrade themselves in such a way. Whilst I do not know what the Drow from here are like, those of my lands are proud and flushed with dignity." Orcus felt his chest pump up with air and stick out as he said what he had to. "On top of that; we Drow may not be much for forests, but there's not one who would dare say that it needed trimming, whether out of the shear stupidity or respect is up to the individual."

As the two continued to their inevitable destination, this Ruffled Raven, Orcus allowed himself to question something that seemed out of the ordinary. "The man who has been following us since we entered the city. Does he do that often? The question might seem belated, but his presence has begun dampening my mood. It's difficult enough keeping up the appearance of a noble without not one, but two people keeping tabs on me."
