Rita was up and moving before the sun, rummaging through her things. "Where is it?" she shouted while tossing stuff from a trunk. "Of all the times to misplace something . . ." Rita signed, moving to sit back on her bed. Her hand slid backwards, running across something soft, causing her to suddenly jerk to attention. “Found it!” she exclaimed, clutching a quill in hand. Rita would have been very upset with herself if she had lost any of the quills she had gotten on her internship this past summer. She quickly grabbed the rest of her class supplies, threw them into her bag, and then headed to the great hall to grab some breakfast. She munched on a bagel and smear while heading toward the dungeons for potions. Slughorn had already arrived and a few of her classmates had beaten her there as well. Rita placed her bag in a corner seat, making sure the entire class was in view. As soon as Slughorn began writing the potion for the day on the board, Rita was already heading to the cupboards, making to get her supplies early so she would have plenty of time to observe her classmates.

Sirius woke up feeling groggy. Who in the world would schedule a class for so early in the morning? He sat up, stretched a bit, and ran his fingers through his hair. He got out of bed and dug around in his trunk, finding a shirt, some clean trousers, and his tie. He glanced at Remus' bed to find the curtains still pulled shut. He assumed Remus was still in it, but he didn't want to check in case he got caught; it was far too early to think of a reason why he might be looking in on Remus sleeping that would satisfy James, who, judging by the snores coming from his four-poster, was still fast asleep.

After Sirius finished getting dressed, he made his bed and looked around the room for his robes. He really wished he hadn't thrown them last night, as they'd be completely wrinkled now. He picked them up, shook them a few times, and put them on, looking down at them. He fixed his hair, which was expertly ruffled, a trait James had always envied, and seeing that his robes were still a bit wrinkly for his liking, he muttered a quick de-wrinkling spell, threw on some socks and his shoes, and headed down for breakfast.

While he was eating breakfast, he had time to himself to mull over last night's happenings. He wasn't quite sure how things between him and Remus would be now. He hoped that it wouldn't be awkward talking to him in potions class. Even more, though, he hoped that they wouldn't be too obvious in front of James and the rest of the student body about their feelings for each other. He continued to think about it as he walked down to the dungeons for his first potions class of the year.

He took a seat in the very last row, waiting for his mates to meet him. He realised all this lurking about by himself was a little fishy, but he still hadn't quite gotten over the fact that his pride was hurt the night before. As he sat down, he saw Bellatrix sitting with a few of her friends and felt a slight twinge of guilt for yelling at her. He hoped that he could catch her alone after class and apologize for overreacting. If there was one thing the paper had right, it was the fact that she was the only one who had supported him after his family had disowned him. Sighing, he leant back in his seat and waited for class to start.

As the room started filling up, she pulled out a parchment and wrote down the directions knowing it was inevitable that Slughorn would wipe it off in short notice. When she looked, Sirius had already passed her on his way to the back of the room, Bella sighed a little seeing him, their talk on the train certainly could have gone better. Pulling out her textbook, she flipped through it for the correct page, letting her long hair fall around her face while she stared intently at the book waiting for Slughorn to begin class.

Sleepily, Fabian sat up. He noticed the curtains draped carefully around his bed, and the neatly cleaned room. "This.. certainly isn't my room." With a flooding sense of happiness and adventure, he remembered that he was back at Hogwarts. The first day had certainly been long.
"Day two!" He announced to the empty room.
With a spring in his step, unseen at such an early hour, he hurriedly grabbed his potions ingredients. Even though he was a third year, he was ta.king classes beyond his level. Fabian felt quite privileged. He didn't act like a third year, so he knew he wasn't oging to be picked on.
Skipping breakfast, he practically floated into the open Potion's door.
The classroom was mostly full, so he found a seat in the back.

Venatici woke the next morning feeling quite refreshed. The previous day seemed to hved dragged on forever, and he was quite ecstatic to be starting classes again. He checked the time, and decided that he had enough time for a quick breakfast while reviewing more notes. He quickly got changed and washed, and headed down to grab a bite to eat.

After he was done eating, Venatici headed down to his first class of the day, Potions. Once he got there, he grabbed a seat more towards the front, so he could actually see the board. Class began shortly after and he began making his Calming Draught.

Narcissa woke up the next morning and looked around her room. It wasn't nearly as large as she remembered it. And then she remembered that she was back at school. 'Joy,' she thought. She got up, took a long shower, dressed, grabbed her things and then headed to the Great Hall for breakfast. She wasn't much of a morning person, so she just took some fruit. Once she was finished, she headed down to Potions.

By the time she got to class, most of the seats were taken. However, she did notice an empty one near Severus. 'Lucky,' she thought. She then walked over to the empty seat. She was pretty sure he would help her if she asked for help. And by ask for help, she obviously meant for him to do it for her.

Gilderoy couldnt be more pleased. The entire student body of Hogwarts was praising him for his looks, cunning and magicaly talents. "You're too kind, too kind," he profesed repeatedly to the enthusiastic crowd. "Really, This is simply too much. I'm not worthy. " The crowd agreed whole-heartenly, and departed immediately for other conquests, leaving Gilderoy dumbfounded and crest fallen. "No, wait, come back! it was only a joke." The crowd continued to receed, ignoring Gilderoy's pleas. "This isn't possible. This can't be happening! It's not true! It's not true!"

Gilderoy awoke with a start, screaming 'It's not true!' into the curtains. "What a horrible dream," he declared, hugging his body to try and shake the images. He could still see the crowd deserting him. Gilderoy sighed then rolled out of his bed, pulling back the curtains slowly. His other roommates had already left for breakfast and class. "At least no one heard that display," he thought while pulling out his school robes. Judging by the amount of sunlight entering the room, he would not be attending potions. "Oh well, Slughorn will understand." Gilderoy proceeded to begin his morning routine, beginning with his hair flips and ending 2 hours later with him putting on his robes. "Looking great Mr. Lockhart," complimented his reflection as left his room and headed for the common room. He took a seat in a chair near the fireplace, waiting for Dempsy to come collect him and tell him out potions. He reached into his bag to pull out a mirror so he could perfect his smile and found a crumpled piece of paper in his bag as well. "Well, hello, what have we here?" he wondered while smoothing out the creases. "A Family torn? How dreadful!" he exclaimed, sliding back into his chair to read the article.

If God had intended for Hestia Jones to be a morning person, he certainly screwed up rather badly on that little detail. It was only twenty minutes before class by the time Hestia got up and started scrambling to get dressed. "Oh my GOD! Late on the first day!" she cried with anger as she shuffled around the room, trying her damnedest to get ready. She threw on her robes and tied a blue ribbon to keep her messy black curls from falling into her face.

Breakfast was barely even an option. She managed to scavenge a granola bar from her bag and chomp it all down as she ran like a bat out of Hell toward Potions Class. "Shitepissbugger," she swore in a stream of irritation that would make a little old lady faint. Darting through the doorway just in time, she was almsot about to cheer with glee, but unfortunately...

She ran right smack into one of the large, empty cauldrons and fell face first into it.

What a lovely morning this would be, she decided mentally.

"Ugh...which way did that truck go?" she muttered to herself as she slid up and landed right on her behind once she managed to get up...and regain any dignity she had left.

After a summer filled with staying up all night and sleeping all day, it was hard for Remus to get back on an appropriate sleeping schedule whenever he came back to Hogwarts. By the time he had finally woken up from his comfortable slumber, he had found that he was alone in his dormitory. Looking at his watch, it wasn't at all surprising that everyone had left already, but he would have thought that maybe one of them might've had the kindness to pry him awake, and the fact that Sirius hadn't stayed to wait for him made question whether or not he was being honest about last night or if he was just messing with Remus for a good laugh to share with James later. He figured that he wouldn't dwell on it too much until he had the time to talk with Sirius more in private, and plus, he didn't need to think of such things that require his undivided attention when he really should be getting dressed and ready for his morning classes.

Buttoning his robes shut, Remus grabbed his leather pack, double-checking that everything was there before he threw it over his shoulder and head out of the Common Room. He would have to rush if he wanted to get to class on time, and there would be no way that he could go down to the Great Hall and grab some toast. He had hoped that maybe Sirius, James, or Peter had thought about him at breakfast and grabbed something for him to eat -- he'd be very grateful. Taking the stairs three at a time, he ran down to the dungeons as quickly as he good, made it to the Potions classroom on time, and then found Sirius, taking the seat next to him.

Breathlessly as he tried to even out the rising and falling of his chest, he said very casually, "Morning."

As the last few students finally entered the room, Horace stood, and a
respectable silence soon fell over the students. He smiled, knowing he had quite a pull over them all. He waited until he was sure no stragglers would enter late, disrupting his instructions for class that day, and began to speak.

"Good morning, students, and welcome back to Hogwarts," he began with a grin. "I'm sure most of you fifth-years have been dreading OWLs, so I won't start you all off with a bunch of rubbish about studying. I'm sure you'll all do that for Potions, anyway." He paused, chuckling. "Today, we are going to be brewing a Calming Draught, as I'm sure it will come in handy to many of you come end of term, when you're rushing madly to finish all your work and exams. The instructions are quite straight forward, and you will find the ingredients on the board behind me, along with the page number for the potion in the book. All of the supplies can be found in the cupboards to the right, and I'm sure you all have your cauldrons and scales with you. If you haven't, you will find extras in the cupboards to the left. You have until the end of the period. You may begin."

Severus looked over at Narcissa and nodded, acknowledging her presence. Once Professor Slughorn had begun to speak, however, he turned his full attention on him.

"Today, we are going to be brewing a Calming Draught, as I'm sure it will come in handy to many of you come end of term, when you're rushing madly to finish all your work and exams." Severus gave a mirthless chuckle at that, knowing full well that some of the less prepared students likely would be stealthily taking some of the better students' potions back with them.

He listened closely to what Slughorn had to say, writing down tidbits he thought would need to be remembered.

"The instructions are quite straight forward, and you will find the ingredients on the board behind me, along with the page number for the potion in the book. All of the supplies can be found in the cupboards to the right, and I'm sure you all have your cauldrons and scales with you. If you haven't, you will find extras in the cupboards to the left. You have until the end of the period. You may begin."

As soon as Severus heard "begin," he got up, heading to the cupboard to get the necessary ingredients for the potion. He looked at Narcissa, who hadn't made a move, and decided to get hers as well, for he didn't want her to get poor marks, especially if she was sitting next to him. He headed back, setting all the ingredients out in meticulous detail according to when they needed to be added to the potion, and set to work, going slowly so that he knew Narcissa could follow along easily.

Sirius heard Slughorn's voice drone out the instructions and set to work, gathering the ingredients listed on the board. He set them out in neat rows in order of use. He knew that it probably surprised people how well he could do in class, considering his behavior out of class, but potions seemed almost effortless for him. Seeing that his beetle eyes were about to roll off the table, he sighed and put them back in their proper row, placing his quill beside them to keep them from rolling.

As Sirius was flipping through his potions book to the right page, he noticed Remus take a seat next to him, seemingly out of breath from rushing. He smirked as he dug around in his bag, then turned to Remus, holding out a rather sorry-looking muffin he'd saved for him. "I see you finally decided to get out of bed and join us," he said, grinning. He then turned back to his ingredients and continued working on his potion, turned slightly towards Remus so as to encourage conversation.

Lily's eyes were focused on Slughorn, but every now and then her eyes would slowly shut. It wasn't like her, in the least, but somehow she was still managing to take perfect notes on what he said...

She shook her groggy head, and rubbed her eyes. She had to stay awake. While Slughorn probably wouldn't notice, she didn't want to chance getting in trouble.

When Gideon Prewett had woken up that morining, he knew it would be a hard one. Double Potions after breakfast, and Arithmancy after that. Potions was by far his worst subject, which was very annoying, as he wanted to become an Auror. As for Arithmancy - well, it's better then Divination.
He ate with his brother at the table as usual. Fabian had yet to find a group that he really fit in well with, and the Slytherin's were still giving him trouble. Gideon had had to threten one with detention (he had gotten the badge over the summer), and had almost pulled his wand.
Now in the dungeons, Gideon still found it hard to concentrate to Slughorn's complicated analysis of the Drought of Calm.
Ah, well, at least he had Flitwick's to look forward to...

After Narcissa was seated, she saw Severus nod in acknowledgemnt, and so she nodded back. Shortly after this he went into 'Proper Student Mode', or 'Ravenclaw Mode' as she liked to call it, and began taking notes. She started to listen as well, simply because she didn't want bad marks. Once the Professor was done talking, she saw Severus immediately get up to get ingredients, so she remained seated. She watched him grab double of everything and smirked. He came back to the table and set everything out for her, she smiled at him in thanks, and then set about copying everything he did, noting the fact that he was moving slower than usual. 'This class should be a breeze,' She thought happily.
