Amarantha blinked, her ruby-red eyes slightly wide at the question. It was one that, while it was an important one, had almost never been asked of her. Her father had been too focused on spoiling her, while her mother had been determined to make Amarantha adhere to every ideal the older woman had with no regards to what her daughter wanted. And her teachers had only wished to teach her class and move on. Her face was impassive, other than the slight widening of her eyes, as she the question posed to her. What was her goal? Her mother merely demanded perfection, but gave no direction. She was silent a long moment, eyes never leaving the Acting Hokage in front of her, before she took a breath, "I wish to grow, as a shinobi, and a person. I have lived in my mother's shadow all my life, and I wish to be able to take my training, and my skills, and apply them to best guard and aid Konohagakure. and in doing so, I hope to find a path not dictated to me by my mother and her ideals of perfection. If you are asking me if I have a title I aspire to, I wish to work my way up to being ANBU." Amarantha said, face impassive and back straight.
She had taken a moment to think about it, and it was possible, she knew, that her goals would grow and change as she did, but at the moment the question was posed to her, that was the only answer that resonated with her. She loved her mother, but she was tired of being her mother's puppet, or pet shadow. She was ready to be her own person, and she wanted to pay homage to her father's memory by doing so as a Shinobi of Konoha. Her father had been a Jounin, her mother was one as well, but neither had been in the elite ranks of the ANBU. It would be the first thing that she had chosen for herself.

Shi waited with long-practised patience, only the slow blink of his eyes showing he was still alive and the unwavering lock of eye-contact with Amarantha showing he was wholly focused on her. The genin's words weren't much of a surprise - the young all desire to make a name of their selves, away from the shadow of something or someone else. The pressures imposed by the old onto the young. It was an age-old tale. "Mhm," Shi thrummed, low in his throat. "ANBU..." He began, slowly. Green eyes lowered, briefly, to the desk before him before lifting once more. "Has many branches." He revealed. "Not everyone has the choice, on entering ANBU, what branch they will follow." Once more, Shi speaks a little slower than he was before, but he wasn't reading this time. Simply accentuating the importance of this path the Genin seems keen to make for their self. "No reason you can't start studying now, to try and get you into an area most suitable to you - mind and body wise. However," Shi remained motionless except for the movement of his mouth. "With your skill set, you may be guided towards the more clandestine of operations. Is this an appeal to you?" Shi's tone of voice was carefully neutral, as it had been the entire conversation. He wasn't trying to warn the Genin away, just try to make sure that even the choice of ANBU had options, and even the choice of ANBU may not be much of a choice at all, in its own way.

Amarantha listened patiently, letting his words sink into her and burned them into her memory. She knew there were things she was not aware of, and part of her life would always belong to others. But this was the first time she had ever chosen something for herself. And she would either earn her place, or she would earn a different place. Failure was nothing but something to learn from, not a final result. She nodded, once, firmly and confidently, "I will be honest, I do not care for recognition, outside of deserved promotions for hard work and experience, and the money needed to purchase proper gear as needed. If what I end up doing needs to remain secret, it shall remain secret with no qualms from me. If I am presented a mission, I will execute it to the best of my abilities. Should I fail, I will accept the consequences, though I plan on doing my best not to fail." She knew she had a long way to go, she knew she had potential years of training and hard work before she saw even a glimmer of progress towards ANBU. But she would work, and she would prove herself to anyone she needed to. If she took anything from her mother, it was that she would get nowhere without working for it; at least outside of her father's influence.

Once a permanent Kage is named, Shi would most likely return to his own duties as ANBU. He may even get to be there when Amarantha is given her title. He would thrum a low note once more before speaking. "The village is still under repairs, and we currently have no Jounin available to train any more teams of Genin." He informs, words even-paced and tone neutral. "The library and training grounds, however, remain open, where possible, so it may be utilised." The acting Kage informs. At this, he leans down to the side, reaching into a small box behind the desk to grab a headband. She leans forward to place it on the desk in easy reach for the newly graduated Genin to take. "You may choose to utilise it yourself now, or seek a basic mission to undertake on your own." He gives no recommendations on her next course of action, but his complete focus on the genin and his open posture invites any questions Amarantha may have.

Slightly poked her head in, the bright Yamanaka glanced and saw that there was a female before the Hokage's desk. With that, she took a step towards and stood at the doorway to show respect and privacy to the woman and the temporary Hokage. Her dark moss green hues glanced around the office and she squinted to a corner. Was.. that a pond? Huh. Her head tilted slightly as she was rather curious to what was in it. Koi fishes? Goldfish? Her body leaned forward as if she was going to take a step but then she stopped herself.
Sayuri really needed to learn how to control her curiosity. It had gotten her trouble few times at the academy. Leaned back to avoid losing her balance for going forward to take a step, she waited patiently by the doorway for her turn. Glancing the female from behind, either she is a really tall massive young woman or an older woman. Not sure which. Sayuri didn't exactly make friends at the academy, she mostly kept to herself and helped her parents with their mortuary business when she's not training or focusing on academy work.
Her heart raced for a moment as she remembered how busy she was from previous UHV attacks. All... those bodies and the services. Citizens and shinobi combined. The screams were horrible but the silence was even more terrifying. Screams from someone was a healthy way to let it out, to accept that they are gone and know they will always be with them. The silent ones? Usually the ones that still doesn't believe it. That, to this day, still waits for their deceased loved ones to come home act like nothing had happened. Amarantha bowed at the waist, her coat moving to cover most of her body from view with the motion, her hair spilling over the white fur like blood over snow, then straightened, "I would request a mission that I can complete after I do some basic jutsu training." She admitted after standing straight. She was vaguely aware of the sound of footsteps beyond the open door behind her, but she remained focused on Shi, waiting to hear his recommendation for a mission.

"First off, it's none of our business. Secondly, have you tried considering that this might be out of our league?"
Orion stood outside of the building which housed the Hokage's office, talking with a shorter, redheaded male who was firmly protesting the idea of delving further into the Northern Mines for a 'hidden treasure' they overheard in a nearby conversation during lunch. The men who brought up the subject appeared to be experienced miners, so as far as Orion was concerned, there was more truth than rumor to their words. To add to that, when he approached to inquire about their conversation, they immediately shut down and got defensive. Now why would that be necessary if there was nothing to hide?
"Well, it's not our fault they were talking so loud." Orion grinned, taking a hand and ruffling the top of Toshi's head flustering him even more. "I've got some other business to take care of. So, think about it, would ya? ...I mean, I understand diving into deep, dark caves isn't your thing--"
"Don't even start! Go on, you damn rascal." Toshi barked, lightly jabbing Orion in his shoulder, then proceeded to tidy up his now wild mess of hair. Orion began stepping towards the general direction of the building's entrance, "Think about it." He'd remind Toshi once more, forming 'guns' with his thumbs and index fingers extended, pointed in his direction, as he backed into the door and then the main room of the massive building. The young explorer sauntered up the stairway leading to the Kage's office, its door ajar, revealing two others in the room, and one peeking in from the outside.
Quite the crowd already... A half smile arose on his lips, his gaze upon the pink-haired female who was either too shy to enter or had some other motive for wanting to observe while out of sight. The clenching and release of her fist could be viewed as a sign of anxiousness. Whether she was steeling herself mentally for her entry or not, Orion made he way to the other side of the door across from the woman, leaning the side of his body against its frame casually. "Hey. First day jitters?" His tone was soft and casual, his gaze peering into the office to survey the other woman and the male sitting at the desk. He also noticed a pond in the corner... an odd place to put a pond, but it wasn't his office. He wasn't much for interior decorations anyhow. A room that was big enough to serve its purpose and house various books and work spaces was all he could really ask for. Surrounded by nature? That was always a plus.
Green eyes flickered over to the newest arrival; another young woman, this one also waiting at the doorway for permission before entering. Shi returns his attention to Amarantha. He thrums in thought for just a moment. "Go train yourself first." He says. "Then return here to tell me of your progress. There are missions of greater importance that you may be able to take on after doing so." Shi tilts his head slightly; it was both a dismissal and a motion of regard. "And I'd like a better idea of your interests in training to see where better to place you until a new Kage is elected." Shi nods his head then, as though concluding the discussion. With that, he waved in the pink-haired graduate with one hand, while the other went to a small stack of folders, each with a name and freshly placed seal marking the graduation date in a corner. A small, square photo was paper-clipped to each file.
"Yamanaka. Sayuri." He reads the file name with a photo matching the new arrival. He makes a motion with his free hand for the male to wait his turn. Shi opens the file and begins reading. "Shows aptitude for Genjutsu and TaiJutsu almost equally." Shi read aloud, not looking up from scanning through the thin report. "You have shown potential for work requiring a suspecting mindset... also with the caveat that you temper yourself first and not react as instinctively in some situations..." The acting kage was mostly speaking to himself, and he was surprised that he felt no surprise for amount of anger issues within the newest graduating generation of Konoha shinobi. "Sealing jutsu..." He speaks a little slower as he reads, and the fingers of his right hand trail under the words, as though guiding him along. He appears to have some difficulty reading. Eventually, after some slow minutes of almost absolute silence, Shi looks back up. "You have an interesting skillset. You will be well sought-after by many branches if you show the right work ethic." Though the words may have been viewed as praise, Shi's tone remained factual, level. "There are concerns on your socialisation by some individuals, though it would not be a concern for others later on. How do you view your situation in Konoha?" He asks.

Sayuri heard a voice by her so she glanced towards him and smile softly. "No." A honest reply from her as she looked back towards the two. At that moment, it seemed they were done as she stepped to the side and let the woman pass her. Sayuri caught the man before the desk waving her in and motioned towards the blonde haired male by her to stay. With that, she approached him, her arms resting at her side.
The pink haired girl slightly tilted her head in confusion before she finally realized that maybe had reading problems. 'Oh.' She mentally thought to herself as she didn't mind waiting. She understood that everyone has problems and everyone learns differently. Hell, medical jutsu was a b***h for her and to this day, she still doesn't get it. Maybe first aid with a bandaid or so but nothing chakra related. Sayuri didn't react about her temper and instinctively because she had nothing to hide or defend. She knows that she has flaws and was working on it. It was true. Her eyes glanced towards the pond as there was some minutes of silence, the water trickling into the pound was possibly the loudest sound in this office.
Then finally, he spoke, her attention turned towards the male. She would be sought after? For a moment, she had to think about that. She didn't want to be desired. She wanted to be in position where she can protect Konoha. She had a few ideas but they were not going to happen until she became strong and possibly; older. A soft side smile can be seen when he mentioned about her social issues. That wasn't entirely her fault. She's friendly, she just never made friends because everyone was thick as thieves when she moved here.
Sayuri was confused about his question for a moment, "My situation in Konoha?" She repeated as she thought about it. "I'm aware that I'm not a Konoha native but it doesn't mean I fell in love with Konoha and want to find ways to protect it. As you are aware, I'm sure, from the file, that my family runs a mortuary business. Recently, the bodies was...." She paused as she sighed softly, her arms crossing across her chest loosely, "Horrid, to put it lightly. I've seen a lot of dead bodies but never to that amount. Konoha is strong. Citizens and shinobi alike will rise from what happened from it but we cannot forget. The moment we do, our guard is down and we will find ourselves where we were before. Attacked and bodies all over the streets. In fact, we are still doing some services for the remaining bodies that wasn't found till later."
"As for where I would be, I'm not sure. I have ideas how to protect this village but I cannot do it as I am now. I need to learn, grow, develop, and become stronger." While she has a bit of curiosity and anger from what happened, she was fairly level-headed. "And I'm aware that I needed help. I cannot do this on my own and none of us can."

What Sayuri had said was fact, undoubtedly. "What of you specifically?" He asks. "Has this event inspired a goal in you?"

I'm not comfortable talking about my goals, I would wish for more privacy." It seemed, despite for her being friendly, Sayuri may have a bit of trust issues among Konohagakure shinobi. The reason she trusts the man before her was that he was of higher rank and have proved his loyalty enough to be able to play as temporary Hokage. The blonde male behind her? Shi would then wait to see if the Yamanaka had any questions before waving the boy in the doorway forward.

A soft smile was given to the man before her as she now realized she never knew his name. What did people say? Was it Shi? "Even so." Her voice was soft but amused slightly. It was true that no where was safe. Sayuri was honestly surprised to see Shi pull out a headband and placed it on the desk. She half expected him to tell her to wait or for the blonde one to close the doors. With a step forward, "Hai, Shi-sama. I will return after my training." With a bow, she turned and stopped for a moment before the blonde male, "It was nice to meet you, even for a moment." With that, she headed out to get some training in.

Her response was simple; straight to the point. Orion's hands went to the pockets of his trousers as he leaned his back against the frame of the door. Couldn't really continue much of a conversation off of that. Sayuri walked in without another word, and the redhead walked out just the same. Hm. The ladies weren't very social around here, it seemed. Though it was nice to see that they were focused on their new careers anyhow. Staring down the stairway, he allowed himself to be consumed in his own thoughts, with little mind of the conversation going on inside. It wasn't until the female walked out and spoke to him.
"Yea, you as well." He smiled, watching her for a moment as she left, then turned to enter the office, approaching the desk with his hand remaining relaxed in his pockets.

Flashes of green, sickly.. the smell of flesh and rot and a million of other disgusting smells. Disappointment, heartbreak... Not good enough, not good enough, not good enough... Ice blue eyes blinked at the closed door in front of him, memories gone as fast as they were there. Beautiful features crumpled in to a look of dazed confusion-- how long had he been here, staring at the Hokage's closed door like an idiot? Severin let out a soft huff, running his hand through short moonlight locks. As his fingers ran closer to the back of his head, it hit moisture. Had he really broken out in to a cold sweat? Lame. Quickly taking off his overshirt, in just pants and a button down shirt now, Sev made several quick but gentle knocks before walking in to the office.
"Good evening sir," Severin started, flashing a charming smile in the direction of the good looking man at the desk. Shi had dealt with his antics before, but how could he be anything other than himself? "I see that hours of tireless work haven't dulled your good looks any~" Sev let out a tiny chuckle, walking over to the desk. "But sadly I didn't come here to flirt. I was wondering if you had any work for me today?" Severin's eyes became downcast as he adjusted the cuffs of his long sleeve shirt, waiting for the acting kage to answer him. Sev stopped for a second, mid-way through adjusting his right cuff, as eyes darted up to another male in the room. Why were men in this village so damn gorgeous?! The young raigyo sent a wink in Orion's direction, pale bangs falling slightly in to his face as he did so.
He honestly hadn't realized anyone else was in the office with him.
