Shi sets Sayuri's and Amarantha's files to the side, beginning a new pile for the documents. As Orion silently approached, Shi took that time to flick through the stack of files on the recent graduates of the academy. It wasn't long before the acting Kage had pulled out a slim folder with a small, square photo of Orion's face paperclipped to the front of it. "Orion Xander Chronic." Despite the foreign name, Shi spoke it exactly like one of Orion's academy teachers did. "You've shown a charasmatic streak... Uzumaki clan..." Shi reads a little slowly, his fingers trailing underneath the words he's apparently reading. "And a skill with medical techniques..." Although the acting Kage was speaking aloud, his low tone implied the verbal commentary was more directed to himself, reinforcing the points of interest. "You'd be well sought after in the hospital. Bedside manners aren't a requirement for field medics." Shi speaks, voice low and level. Eventually, the acting Kage looks up to Orion, his face completely impassive. "You've been recommended for duties that would keep you inside the village." Shi reveals. "I would be surprised if that remains entirely so. And the next page to take this position may choose to ignore this recommendation. May I ask if you would wholly accept this recommendation or direct yourself elsewhere?" He asks, voice even and gaze unwavering.

The temporary Kage began reading aloud the contents of his file. Aside from a slight mispronunciation of his surname, everything else was pretty accurate. He wasn't surprised to see that his potential with medical techniques was the highlight of his file. The fact that his instructors managed to get a decent enough observation in that skill was a feat in itself entirely. Orion dabbled in it enough to learn what he felt was necessary, disregarding most of the textbook in favor of maps detailing the geographical layout of the area surrounding the village. Fuuin was a far more interesting topic--naturally--and proved to be beneficial in his future explorations. However, with the current state of the village, anyone with even the smallest medical ability would likely be picked out to aid in relieving damages sustained in recent events.
The dilemma was accepting the recommendation and then being stuck on medical duty. Orion leaned forward, resting his hand on the desk in thought just as Severin made his appearance. Elegantly dressed and charming as ever, began making sweet talk with the temporary Kage. Hazel irises scanned over him with curiosity and intrigue, similar to the maps he buried himself in at the Academy. Except there were no valleys, forests, and caves... so what exactly was he studying here? He actually hadn't become aware of his 'studying' until Severin winked. Orion only hoped he was simply acknowledging his presence and hadn't caught him staring. I wasn't staring... Yea, because the outfit he wore was really, really nice looking. He casually responded with a nod in greeting, shooting him a delightful smile. And then he became lost...
Wait. What was he thinking about before this stud came in? Medical position. Right. Focus, Xander.
Clearing his throat, he turned his head, fully returning his attention to Shi who sat before him. No offense to the charming fellow he stood beside. He was worried that taking this position would leave little time for his passion. His parents ended up leaving their careers to pursue theirs, after all. "I hope that wouldn't be the case." Both hands rested on the edge of the desk now, there was a small pause, followed by a sigh. "I'll accept the offer. Though I should mention I do have an interest in travel outside of the village in the future and currently, for supplies. Is there any way that can be arranged?" Orion would have to figure out how to balance his career and his passion at the same time. It sounded difficult, but perhaps he could find a method that his parents failed to discover, and have the best of both worlds. Or one, rather, this whole Shinobi thing was going to take some time to get used to. That's what happens when you don't study the material they give you in the Academy properly.
Dark green eyes flicker away from Orion when another enters the office. "And a well received greeting to yourself. Severin Raigyo." Shi replies, a small tilt of his head in greeting while his face stayed almost unchanging during the exchange. "Indeed I have a mission for you. I'll just be a moment." He explains, his eyes returning to Orion - to find the Genin still gazing at the newest arrival. On another person, the slightest quirk of an eyebrow may have gone unnoticed. But this was the first change in expression Shi had made; and it was directed solely at Orion. The glint in Shi's dark eyes showed amusement, but he made no comment after catching Orion's attention back.
"There is not much of an offer I can make for you, Orion." He replied. "As acting Kage, my duties with the Genin only extend as far as preparing you all, to the best of this village's capabilities." He explains. "But even in found so, what the Hokage chooses to do with you after they are elected, it is almost entirely up to them." He warns. And with that, the temporary Kage sits back in his chair to lean down and grab something from a box set behind his desk. Upon sitting back upright, Shi reveals a headband to the Genin. "If you wish for a trip to Takumi, there is the opportunity for a missive to be delivered there. But I request you train first. Return here, report your progress, and we'll see about that mission." Shi Akatoki's facial features have, by then, long returned to their neutral state.
Once it was deemed respectful to do so, Shi turned his attention to Severin. "We've had reports of some of the temporary clinics being stretched to capacity, and others not having enough qualified staff members." Shi reports, tone low with concern over the situation. "Your aid would be greatly appreciated in this matter." It would only be with Severin's agreement that Shi reveals the clinic, it's location, speciality, and the name of the senior nurse he would need to speak to upon Severin's arrival. "Best of luck, Raigyo." Shi speaks.

"I see..." Orion straightened his posture, hands still resting on the desk in front him. Shi's responsibilities were limited due to his current role as temporary Kage, but it was good to know there was possibility of light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully whoever the new Kage would be, didn't get too restrictive with traveling. During the time he bent down to retrieve something from beneath the desk, an internal war plagued the young adventurer. As if two mini versions of himself had appeared on his shoulders; one provoking him to turn and face Severin once more, and the other, demanding he keep his focus on the desk, Shi's head - something other than that. Why? Because of the feeling he was left with. Seeing something you don't believe you saw, but you recall seeing it. So you'd want to see it again to make sure it's true. Orion's head turned just enough to view Severin in his peripheral view. Had the Raigyo been aware, he'd find an iris rotating to the very corner of the eye, with a brow arched inquisitively.
Orion could confirm that he was real, and unnaturally good-looking. Now he only wondered what his parents looked like.
His focus returned forward just in time to receive the headband from Shi, "I got it." Orion took the headband sliding it and his hands under his golden locks and tying it to his forehead. A short, quick shake of the head was enough to get his hair back into place, settling over the new headband without obstructing his face too much. The Takumi trip sounded promising. He had only been there a few times with his parents to visit merchants, and he was positive that they would have everything he needed. With his business done here, it was time to leave Shi and Pretty Boy to handle theirs. Turning towards the door, Severin fell into his view once again - yes, he's still real - waving them both off and letting his hands slip into his pockets as he left the office. "See ya'round."

Severin watched Orion, arms crossed across his chest. His blue eyes held a look of amusement, and a small smirk pulled at one corner of his lips. This man would be fun to talk with later, for sure. Maybe he'd even get a bit of fun out of it. Once Orion left-- and with one last backwards glance to watch him leave --Severin turned his attention back to Shi. "Don't think I didn't see that break in your facade, Shi~" It was not very often that he saw the man show any emotion, let alone the glimpse of amusement he had just caught. He was glad to see that the acting kage had enjoyed that situation just as much as he had.
Setting his weight on to one leg, Sev looked up in the air, pondering the mission. He could always take more clinic work, he had been out of the game for some time now just doing strictly non-medical work. "Sure, that sounds like a hoot. Where am I going and who am I helping, handsome?"

Shi would release a small puff of air through his nose, muted by the lower-face covering he wore. "Last I checked, I am a perfectly functioning human, Raigyo." The acting Kage spoke. It could have been interpreted as annoyance, or even humour. But Shi spoke in such an even, factual tone, that it could have been just that; statement of fact. Shi wasn't going to help Severin figure it out, either. He does, however, thrum a low note in the base of his throat at the 'handsome' comment. "A senior nurse will greet you upon your arrival." Shi moves on to say, green eyes keeping up an unwavering connection of eye contact with the younger Shinobi.

The taller man closed the last bits of space between himself and the desk that held Shi, placing his hands on the tabletop and leaning over to level himself with the acting kage. Blue eyes narrowed slightly for a moment as Severin searched the ANBU's face, almost as if he was waiting for anything else to show in those stoic eyes. A sick feeling rose in his stomach, almost like anxiety, though the Raigyo had no reason to be anxious. He swallowed hard, his eyes darting away as he tried to fight the slight twinge of nausea that had appeared. Something at the back of his head was buzzing, memories he couldn't remember and words he couldn't make out. Clearing his throat, Severin straightened back up and gave Shi somewhat of a formal bow. "Thank you." Was all he muttered before he turned and left the office.
Something in those unwavering green eyes stirred at memories he didn't want to dig up.

A nameless face among many one would see in the day. No matter how dramatic a picture long, flowing green hair and lively, bright red eyes may paint, she was just a stranger, a newcomer in the village. The way she walked with smiles and bells announcing her every step, such carefree abandonment of the shinobi's usual creed of silence and discreetness, probably did draw some attention, but none noteworthy. That was how Kagerou read what her position in the grand scheme of things likely was in this very moment.
Then the ringing stopped, abruptly with the sudden halt in her steps. Kagerou stared as a profile too familiar suddenly appeared in her vision. It turned into the hallway she was walking through, and her eyes traced each angle presented to her. Eyes wide. Mouth slightly open in a frozen smile. Then catching herself staring for too long and quickly averting her gaze so that she looked straight forward as she resumed walking again, this time humming a little accompaniment to her ringing bells. The target of her intense yet dumbfounded scrutiny walked past her and onwards to whatever life he had waiting for him.
Only after she turned the corner did Kagerou stop and look behind herself in a sentimental gesture. Of course, there was no figure to observe anymore. Though, the chance to make haste and chase him down still existed for... one... two... three... and then it was too late. He would be lost in the crowds to Kagerou.
There were two trains of thoughts running simultaneously in Kagerou's head.
One was penning a letter. "Dear Nozomi,
Can I please borrow Kumotake?
Sincerely, Kagerou"
The other was busy with very important thoughts. "What happened to the hair D: ? Nooo. My friiiiiieeeeeend."
As much as she wanted it to bear much thinking over so that she would have time to breathe and accept, doing so actually wouldn't have made much sense. No matter how pale Kagerou's face had become, as if she had seen a ghost, she could not doubt her eyes. She had just seen Severin. Now, whether or not that really was Severin was something else to mull about. Whatever the case was, while Kagerou had seen Severin, Severin had most certainly not recognized Kagerou.
The kunoichi's smile pinched in strained thought and then relaxed.
Turning back around, Kagerou could see the hokage's office right in the same direction Severin had come from. There simply wasn't enough information in one, grazing meeting for Kagerou to draw any sort of reliable speculation among the masses that existed. In such a case, she should aim to gather information before proceeding to do anything she would regret in the future. The hokage would be an excellent source, but then she needed to be careful around how she asked.
In the end, what had relaxed the smile was Kagerou's acceptance that, since she was already late, there really wasn't a good way she could ask for a favor outright. They would meet again, Kagerou was sure of it. So long as she subtly worked towards a repeat meeting in the background of what she did in this village, Kagerou was confident that she would get a chance to speak with this Severin sooner rather than later. Until then, the hundreds of questions buzzing around her head were just wasting her energy.

The office door, as it was open, was taken as an open invitation for entry by Kagerou.
"Act professionally. Don't be casual." Kagerou repeated this advice, given repeatedly in many different forms during a painfully long, one and a half hour lecture by her grandparents after they heard wind about her budding habit of being overly familiar with her superiors, to herself as she smoothly walked into the office with a carefully controlled smile. "Excuse me," she greeted after confirming no one else was in the room, "Is this the Lord Hokage's office?". Even the unexpected pond didn't faze Kagerou for longer than the glance she gave the watering hole. For the most part, her eyes rested upon and curiously studied the hokage.
Since seeing Severin again brought up the topic of familiar faces, Kagerou couldn't help but entertain herself with the thought, that this Shi looked like he could be the Mizukage's brother. Of course, such speculation was wildly unfounded, and Kagerou realized as soon as she made it that she was only thinking that way because 1) the mask left most of the face up to the imagination and 2) again, Severin had brought up the topic.
Shi watched Severin leave with a slight furrow pulling down on his brow. Maybe he should pull his mask down before trying to make a joke next time...
The acting Kage would look up from a report that he had only just dragged back to resting underneath his nose when a small voice spoke up from the door way. Green eyes scanned the face, realising it was unfamiliar - not even a Konoha Genin. "It is." He responds, closing the report once again. "I am acting Hokage Shi Akatoki. How may I assist you, miss...?"

"Kagerou," the green haired kunoichi finished the sentence with a polite bow after she was sure he was asking for her name. She explained as she straightened up, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ears, "Apologies for interrupting your work. I just arrived from Kirigakure, and was told that I should see the lord Hokage for my placement in the village." There was the slightest of cadences to Kagerou's voice even when she spoke formally, and she spoke in such a patient manner that one wouldn't think she was running far behind schedule.

"Ah, but if there is none to give, that is fine." He adds quickly, knowing that clan exiles are... a thing that occurs. "Can you tell me about yourself?" He asks, hands gently flicking through folders, trying to recall if he had any information at hand for this nin. "So I may know how to best place you within Konoha." Shi explains.

Upon being asked by a superior, Kagerou readily gives the answer, "Uchiha. Kagerou Uchiha," before giving an apologetic smile smile, "Though, before any confusions arise, I should clarify that I haven't unlocked my Sharingan. My family history doesn't really provide much insight regarding whether or not I have the potential to, either. Not since my mother's side holds strong tendencies to not have any bloodlines." It was a habit of hers to keep her heritage hidden, but she wasn't so secretive as to withhold such information from her superiors. She preferred helping, rather than rebelling again, her boss.
Likewise, when Kagerou saw the hokage flipping through his papers, Kagerou felt sorely tempted to offer assistance, letting him know that he would likely find her records in the paperwork from a few days ago. However, she bit her tongue on that one. She could just tell him everything he needed to know. "Classification: Medical. Title rank: Chuunin. Elements: Katon, Fuuton. Age: 17," Kagerou started with the basic information before delving into the wordier details, "My specialty lies in eiseijutsu and I'm interested primarily in studying medicine and fuuinjutsu. At the moment, I'm approximately apprentice rank in both arts. However, I also have combat experience, and been trained for such since a young age by my family. The same goes for espionage. With everything considered, I can find a way to handle most positions, save teaching, so please place me wherever you need me most."
Shi expels a small puff of air through his mouth upon finally finding the file he was after going through on of the drawers in the desk. "That's perfectly fine, Kagerou." Shi reassures. "I'm not really of a mind to be sending shinobi of other villages out into the field until necessary. And we have too many repairs to to be focusing on at the moment." Green eyes scan the file, but only to confirm the name, information given, and the picture of Kagerou to the description written. He closes the folder and leans back in the chair. "Convenient specialities, Kagerou. We're in need of those talents at several clinics set-up around the village. Our hospital is only running for the most serious injuries and ailments. Would you be interested?" He inquires.

If she didn't have such a predisposition to being calm, Kagerou would be sweating buckets once she saw the acting hokage pull her file out, and from a drawer nonetheless. She had to wonder what kind of implication that gave. That meant she really was quite late, huh?
To her non visible relief, Shi didn't ask any questions about her tardiness. Actually, assuming she read correctly, he didn't appear to even find something off. This was fantastic. It was nice to know that she had been worrying for nothing.
And of course, Kagerou appreciated that she wouldn't be asked to go out into the field. She was officially here as a Kirigakure shinobi, so on that account, she would treat her duties as seriously here as back in Kiri. Emphasis on the duty part.
"Yes sir," Kagerou formally replied, her words contrasting with the lyrical voice they were spoken and the friendly and relaxed smile that framed them, "I was hoping I'll be asked to work at the clinic. If you don't also mind me asking, could I peruse the learning materials at the academy and hospital in my free time?".
