Taking a deep breath he took Natsumi's rant in stride, though at the end of the day, she openly and publicly, admitted what he wanted her to. Her skills had made her arrogant and the admission would force her to realize that and hopefully attend to it. Taking his personal headband back he slid it into the drawer on the right side of his desk with a sigh. Pinching his nose he returned his attention to Shion as she said her piece. Taking her report he admittedly had an amount of trouble reading the actual handwriting but he managed in the end. Turning to look out the window he was silent for a time, caught in the weight of the moment. All of the previous kage would, without hesitation, have sentenced this girl with a capital offense. Like disobeying and order equated to treason. This was the rule of law that the people of this village, himself included, had grown up with. Where excellence was not acknowledged and punishments were severe. If he followed in their footsteps he would simply be continuing tradition and not be judged for it. But if he deviated from tradition he would be seen by some as disrespectful of said tradition. Would he do it? Could he do it?
Brushing his hair back from his face he began as he continued to stare out of the window,"Your punishment will be what you deserve. You reap what you sow. I know you have heard of it." Turning to face the woman he continued,"You made a choice and now must live with it. You chose to put yourself in danger to protect people you did not know. You chose to defy orders. You chose to fight when you had no reason to against an enemy who, for all you knew, could have slain you without a second thought. In the end not only were you injured but Miss Xion was as well because of your choice. Do you understand now, in the field every choice has the potential to end lives either your own or your enemies." Reaching into his desk he pulled a simple scroll from it and tossed it to the woman,"While I applaud your courage you broke the law and must pay the price. I am removing you from active duty for two weeks. During which time you will serve alongside the priests at the temple. You'll be under the command of the head monk there. While you are there any earnings you gain must go back to the temple. Acceptable?"
Already he was beginning to wonder if he was doing the right thing. Would he be known for kindness or for being too weak to order he execution or banishment?

Overcast and gloomy, the heavens above hold back their torrent of flowing misery by little more than a thread; ready to burst at any moment. Yeah... that's about as nice as the weather ever gets around here.
Even the weather couldn't put a damper on the persistent energy he has been in possession of since rolling out of bed though. For within fiery soul resides a deeply seeded yearning. The world resides on Atlas's shoulders, and he'd be damned if it became too heavy to support.
Pent up relief vents as a tired sigh, early rising far from a normal occurrence for this one. But it was a special morning, a once in a lifetime occurrence and it would be best to hit the ground running... as an official ninja at last; certified on whatever seemingly important powers that be of this realm.
Today was finally the day Tomto had long aspired for; the day of graduation, and able to finally grow unrestricted. Like a caterpillar undergoing it's metamorphosis though, it would be a journey requiring patience and perseverance in order to undergo the long coveted transformation; to spread their wings and soar.
Boots squelch against slick cobblestones as the distance to the hulking monstrosity their leader typically resided in grows smaller and smaller. Calloused digitus grasp steelo handle, seeing himself in. The temperature inside far more amiable, broad shoulders hunched against the chill straighten proudly before casual gait stops directly before the secretary.
Silence dispelled by the light disruption of a clearing throat, full attention is waited for before speaking. "I got told to head on over here for some sort of verification? From the academy?" Carefully unfolding scrawled letter of recommendation from his past instructor, it is held out in the event that verification is required.

Shizuka was immediately st the door with a headband. "Ok look, it's a tense time. Take this headband, welcome to the army. Perhaps you could come and see shiro when he's not... uh... busy." She'd shove the headband into his hand after reading over the leader with a hurried pace. With a shooing motion she closed the door and went back to hiding in the background.

Taking the metal band, it is hastily slipped into carmine sash before nodding in appreciation. "Gotcha. I'll uhhh... come by some other time then. Ciao." Idle wave comes shortly before he turns around and heads on out towards the dojo, ready to pwn some training dummies and pick up on some techniques.

Any nerves she was previous feeling were replaced with a slow-boiling anger. No words, no snarky remarks, not even any attempts to justify what she did. The whole situation irritated her. She wasn't the one who decided to take an unarmed family to a village with a possible threat and leave the bodyguards, she wasn't the one who decided to teleport herself to the island for whatever reason, she wasn't the one who caused injuries to herself trying to heal another teammate. No, she was the one who made the best of a s**t situation by putting her life on the line to protect the very teammate that brought her to the island, and now he wants to compliment her 'bravery'? To talk about how she picked a fight she could have avoided? How did he know? Was he aware of how Xion undermined every attempt Shion made to keep the party hidden by leaving an obvious trail? Did he think Shion wanted any of this to happen? Did he think she enjoyed barely surviving a fight she tried to avoid for a literal 24 hours? Shion caught the scroll and simply shifted her glare from the kage to it for a brief moment. While she tucked away the scroll with one hand, she undid the knot on her headband, letting it slip from her neck, and tossed it to the kage's desk. If she was on probation, a sort of pseudo-exile, she wouldn't be needing it. As the small metal band clattered on the desk, Shion turned her eyes back to the kage and simply said, "Two weeks..." then left the office, making her way to the village gates. The sooner this s**t was over for her, the sooner she could get back to her training.
[A message flys in through the window attached to a Kunai, stabbing into the desk with the seal of the Anbu upon it. His chakra would unlock it, and only his or another anbu. The contents were simple, and encoded. The Jist:
Knowledge gained from Female and speculation based upon it: 1) Mom was from Yuki, while Dad was separated to Konoha during Yuki's downfall. Potential threat there? 2) Life is difficult under the UHV's occupation. Unrest likely causing friction.
Male: 1) Brother and sister still live in Oto, but as workers. Many families are considered workers or crafters. Likely another point of moderate contention. Also means the supply lines are strong for the Sound Village, more likely than not. Worth consideration. 2) Sergeant J. Skelly is the only remaining, bright, shining hope that shinobi still have while living in Oto, under the UHV's oppression. Otherwise, it's do or die. Contact may be useful for gaining a foothold in unhinging them.
Shared details: 1) They were garrisoned at Giman, as were plenty of the troops. 2) The constant warfare with Giman's underbelly is weakening the foothold there. Exploitation may serve well. Perhaps we could secretly arm them? Maybe make connection to rogue elements and employ them there to deal more blows to the UHV? Perhaps form a task force of rogues and village ninja? 3) Sightings of monsters along some of the convoy routes between Giman and Oto are becoming majorly infested with monster nests, especially this thing that's been dubbed a 'Destroying Angel'. (This part is scribbled in like an excited chimp wrote it, and was not properly encodedsmile That sounds incredibly badass.
As Shion removed her headband he took it and placed it into his jacket for safekeeping, she would need that back soon enough, unlike Natsumi. Plucking the note from the kunai he quickly read it over, and as he did so, a large smile spread across his face. After a moment his smile burst forth into laughter. This was what they needed, as it sat they did not stand a chance in hell of facing the uhv directly, but if they could push the uprising's in giman to purpose, and capitalize on the uhv's quickly deteriorating supply lines, then they stood a chance. After all an army moved on its stomach,"The spark of war, need only a single breath to turn into a conflagration."
Looking up to Unki he smiled as his tone softened a bit,"I am glad you made it back safe. The mission was fubar to be sure, but I am confident you did what you could. I admit, I may have chosen wrong in sending Toso to do this. His relationships with his family may have caused more damage then it helped." Letting out a heavy sigh he made his way around the desk and quickly embraced her in a tight hug. After a moment he released the woman and made his way to the bookshelf and began rummaging through it.
With a flick of his arm he tossed several books onto his desk with a smirk as he turned back to face her,"Required reading for you. These books all discuss military philosophy and tactics. In addition there are two that focus on leadership studies and methods. I understand that your education in military matters was..lacking. To be frank. So I want you to study these works. Learn to think like a tactician. As smart as you are I am confident that with experience and education, you can become a fantastic tactician on the battlefield, and an exceptional strategist in the planning room."
Leaning up against his desk he waited for her response. He wanted to spend more time with her but he knew full well that if he did not proceed carefully then his leadership could be called into question.

Her thoughts contiuned to spend themselves on her actions and a number of them were being painted up as mistakes that she could only hope Shiro was in the darkness of. The girl moved her attention to Shion's punishment. In the end, Unki found Shion's desingated means of pennace something not overly painful; time with the monks is something Unki imagined as likely being generally peaceful. The half of being temporarily taken from one's responsibilities was a litte... spirit crushing. After Shion left (and a unlikely "stray" kunai zipped through the window) Unki took from her seat to accept what input Shiro had to say to her. His approach was different, to say the least, and Unki was still expecting a whalop of fiery words to come her way for her mistakes. No. Not yet, at least. The hug, which came totally as a surprise to Unki, forced a small and surprised squeak in place of words. There was little time to react and her arms were stiff to her side and, ultimately, the girl didn't know what to do with them. What a curve ball! The authority figure, friend first and foremost, expressing his disapproval with a hug? Oh. Wait, he's not finished? The unforeseen hug sprung a hint of a rosy glow on her cheeks and Unki could undenyably feel it. The surprise on Unki's face was slowly softening as Shiro quickly broke away to a bookshelf. Unki watched quietly and followed the trail of each books which slid onto the surface of the kage's desk. As Shiro promptly explained these books were for her it wasn't easy to ignore the rising sense of embarrassment. "Me, huh?" Her less than recent memories of her academy lessons and errors come to mind. Unki approached the desk, only a few steps away, and reluctantly reached for the nearest book. The book, now in her hands, was turned on its spine to read a condensed title usings words like "strength" and "tactics". Unki looked more embarrassed than unenthusiastic.
" I knew I didn't.. I mean, I couldn't peruse the sense of perfection that I wanted before. Thus, I regret a lot of what I did out there. Her sights were over to the book more than they could be over Shiro.
"I suppose. I mean. I know this is...what I need to do. I gotta know this if I'm gonna' live up to what you want- or see, rather."

Taking a seat in his chair he let out a heavy sigh as he pinched his nose,"Unki, you are my friend probably among my closest. Which makes what I have to say next something that I may come to regret." Picking up the scroll containing the reports of Mizuki and Kaneko he gestured simply,"Trust is a fickle thing. Once its gained its easy to destroy and near to impossible to gain back. This mission has caused a rift between those in command and the subordinates they lead. If we are to have a hope in hell of actually destroying the UHV we MUST be united in our entirety. None of the chuunin I have at my disposal, excluding the untested twins, have the confidence of the men they lead. Toso abandoned his duty to protect his family. He chose to see to them instead of the men he was leading. Understandable surely. But I cannot condone it either. What happened cannot happen again. While the two of you have shown your combat skills are more then sufficient for a chuunin, your leadership abilities are severely lacking."
Taking a deep breath he steeled himself for what he was about to say,"I am going to suspend your status as squad leaders. You and Toso both. Until such a time as you have shown, not to me, but to the people and the shinobi, that you can lead them properly. That you have regained their trust. You will not be demoted but you will not be authorized to lead a team unless I instruct you otherwise, or during an emergency."
Even as he was saying the words he knew full well that the very thing he was attempting to fix between the gennin and the chuunin could very well spring up between himself and said chuunin. Rising to his feet he went to the window again and pushed it open. Hopping up into the window seal he continued,"I came to realize something while you were gone. I am a kage, in title the strongest in the village. But the truth of the matter is that I am also the weakest. If I cannot keep the loyalty of the people, then I am powerless. In many ways they control me. After all a kage without shinobi isnt a kage. A king cannot be a king without a kingdom. A leader is nothing without the men he leads. Their trust and loyalty is what gives our titles validation. Without them we are no more kage then the rats in the dirt are dragons."
Facing his friend he continued,"Unki I am facing a crisis of thought. I have a responsibility to liberate this country from the UHV and yet despite being ready on paper, were not even close to being ready, hell I doubt we could stop them if they made a serious push into the village. This is my fault, in truth I dont think I am any more ready for this title then you were to lead those men. But I cannot let the village see that, if they see me loose confidence in my abilities then they will follow soon after and then all hope for this village truly will be lost. But this fact is universal across all ranks. From Gennin to Kage. So for your sake, study, train, learn, and think about what I said. Please?"

The tone of defeat carried in her voice which was calm, soft yet somber, and without much objection. In her heart, Unki knew well that she wasn't enduring a wrongly posed punishment, thus, lacked any burning will to protest like she knew she could. "What will you have me do? My responsibilities are equivalent to a genin's now, yes? I am to follow genin, then?"
It was weird. She initially tried to deny the title and, here, her standing with her current title was on in question. It would be false to blatantly ignore Unki's short-lived attachment to the title has already left its mark onto her self-image. If her title were stripped then it would only serve as validation that her concern when she was first named so, prior, wasn't all just nervousness. Perfection was far from reach.
Unki collected the books. Well, Unki tried to collect the books. She folded an arm under the lowest on the stack, then piled another after another. One book onto other. Her other arm went to cradle the front and a side of the stack. "Alright."
No one relevant to their forces died. The first task was completed and the second followed with disarray. Her title is still stuck to her records but by a thread, it seemed. An honest lack of experience and a premature promotion really took its course on her. The girls' off-violet eyes was beginning to lose their bubbly charm, for now at least, and looked empty however thoughtful as Unki reflected for the next few moments on just how correct she was to speak her mind before the white-haired kage.
There wasn't too much to say from there on. She felt her agreement and acknowledgement was sound enough to leave on if she had work ahead of her to follow through. She had not yet turned to leave. Her hesitation was caused by the stack of books and findings the feel to carry out these borrowed items.
"uhm..." As she turned her head to look at the door, she followed through and turned the rest of herself after. Her path was direct but her hands and the books would just have to cooperate. At the very least, Unki approached the door to attempt to fidget with its knob. "hmmn..." --- Relief, gratitude, and more embarrassment surfaced from his act of civility of just grabbing the door for her. A thought forced it's way back, front and center, about her tactless way of going about certain things and knew that she could have solved this problem herself. Somehow, right?
"...I haven't... lost hope in your title... it sounds selfish... but because you didn't lose all hope in mine... or in they're mistakes." Without much else to say, Unki sights dropped from Shiro's face and seemed to settle forward. A bowing of her head was her half-hearted farewell without much eye contact from there on.

Seeing Unki strugle with the door he smiled a bit and hopped off the window seal and promptly opened it for her. Following out after he stopped by Shizuku's desk and let her know that he would be returning to the tower for training if anyone needed him.

Chloe sat bobbing up and down on Bella's shoulder as the grizzled bear grunted it's clear objections to being used as a taxi service though it bared it's burden with a silent love. No matter how much she made it seemed like she hated it Bella could never say no to Chloe after all. Smiling down at her companion Chloe run her fingers through the auburn colored fur and took in all of it's musky glory. The scent always reminded her of a deep slumber.. almost like a dirt or earthy smell, and Chloe honestly found nothing more comforting in the world.
As she rode along through the village n her ride Chloe eventually found herself at her destination. The massive diamond shaped building that overlooked the surrounding mountainous terrain. The sight had always peeked her curiosity but for obvious reason she had constantly been turned away. It only made sense after all, you can't have childeren running around the kage's office. But now that all changed! Chloe had finally been granted the ability to witness it up close so naturally she would take every advantage. Before getting inside Chloe made a very slight detour around to the side of the building. I wonder what ol d**k for eyes would enjoy most? Taking a simple piece of black chalk Chloe had the perfect drawing already in mind.
Only a moment later Chloe had finished her masterpiece! A very unflattering picture of the Raikage in a cartoonish pose and overly emphasized veiny eyes, that may or may not be reminiscent of a certain organ. As he leered at a young woman who was clutching her body. With a wicked grin Chloe causally walked back to the front of the building with her hands behind her head in a innocent pose as she stepped into the Raikage's office. Despite not having a single clue as to her way around the young girl hopped up to the secretary who stood watch over the entrance like some kind of mythical beast. She seemed like a good place to start, after all Chloe doubted that the Raikage himself would be giving out the headbands anyway. Whistling a cat to lovely white haired secretary Chloe flashed a wink her way as well. "Yo, I'm uh.. one of those genin here for their headband? This is where I cash in on that right?"
Shizuka's eyes fluttered up to the fresh face, green as grass and full of the power of young ambition. She so hoped it could somehow last through all the turmoil she'd be facing not just as a ninja, but as a kuinoichi of Kumogakure. She smiled at her and reached into the drawer. "Aye, this is the place. Here is your official headband, now marking you as a ninja of Kumo. As a genin, you now represent us all in all you do. Keep that in mind. The raikage is in the Academy, if you don't see him on the firs tfloor he's likely on a second. I recommend you go and make yourself known to him, he quite likes new blood." With that, she tossed the girl her cloud village. "Was there anything else?"

Chole nodded at the white haired woman pretending that she would do exactly as she said, though she put very little effort into the making the lie convincing."Yep! Thanks for the headband boss. I'll uh be sure to head right over there." Zipping out the door Chole decided to her feet take her wherever they felt like. She was pretty tired after all and training or meeting the Raikage wasn't something hat appealed to her anyway. As she stepped out the door her silent guardian followed her obediently.
[enter] Shion made her way, report in hand, to the Kage's office. She approached the secretary's desk once inside and was informed the Kage, as usual, was out doing business around the village. Couldn't say Shion was shocked to hear this news. At this point, they might as well have just made the Kage's assistants sitting kages in their own right. Still, she didn't really need to see the Kage in person to deliver her report. With a frustrated sigh, Shion slipped the paper on to the secretary's desk and walked out, giving a single finger gun and a "stay snappy," to the person behind the desk. [exit]
