Physical Description: Serrekhar is a big person, and will undoubtedly only get bigger as he continues to grow. He has broad shoulders and a thick chest with well-muscled arms and legs. His strawberry blonde hair is of medium length… and curly as all get out. With bright amber eyes, it could be joked that Serrekhar is a literal golden boy. Of course, when he’s looming over you and snarling, he can definitely come across as terrifying.
Personality: With a voice to match his size and a natural tendency to shove himself in people’s faces, Serrekhar can seem like your typical thug. He will not hesitate to get loud and make threats if someone insults him or says something that he interprets as an insult. If someone (men only) continue to push his buttons, he won’t hesitate to absolutely throw down… but for the most part, Serrekhar’s loud and aggressive attitude is mostly bite. A woman might get under his skin just as much, but Serrekhar would never think to throw a punch unless she threw one first. After that, everything’s game.
For all his bluff and bluster, Serrekhar is actually a very gentle person. He adores cute things, and often falls head over heels for anything that appears vulnerable and in need of being taken care of. He’s secretly quite sensitive and used to being underestimated, leading to some of his over the top reactions. He’s acutely aware of how mortal he is, and honestly, the thought of risking his life scares him to death. However, he’s also the sort of man that in a dangerous situation, while he might rail and wail about it, will also buff himself up with lots of pep talk before launching into it. That’s why he accepted the offer to be a Candidate, after all! But if someone told him to shove his hand down a tunnelsnake hole, he would never.... Unless they insulted him into it, probably. And even then, it would have to be some mighty good insults. Still, being courageous isn’t about not being afraid, and Serrekhar embodies that to a T.
Serrekhar is an absolute idiot when it comes to romance, love… and everything involved. Nothing gets his heart pounding like someone he perceives to be in distress, and Serrekhar won’t hesitate to try and swoop in to be the knight in shining armor. He falls in love very easily--someone cute just has to give him a smile and he’ll be staggering backwards with hearts in his eyes. He can be extremely naive, assuming things without the other person even realizing his feelings. Granted, if someone catches on and tells him no, there’s nothing going on between them, Serrekhar will back off at once. He’s probably going to be quietly devastated and mourn his broken heart… and might perk right back up again once he finds his next shining star. Be assured though, once Serrekhar finds his destined one and only? He’ll be the most loyal, devoted lover one will ever meet, with eyes only for his partner!
This loyalty extends far outside of just romantic love, however. If Serrekhar gives you his word, you bet your butt that he’s gonna keep it, no matter what he has to do. He sees it as a matter of honor… and Faranth forbid you try and call him out on his honor. He’ll go all out, no matter what anyone else says!

History: Serrekhar doesn’t remember much of his mother and father. They both died of fever when he was very young, and he was raised by his older sister who was almost twenty Turns older than he was. Having taken over the family business as a trader Khaliserre was a capable and cunning young woman who picked up on the finer threads of bartering ...and also didn’t hesitate to resort to the smuggling of goods, in order to provide for herself and her baby brother. She never, ever informed her younger brother, and young Serrekhar was happily oblivious. Serrekhar was raised with tough love and no-nonsense aboard the ship until he was eight Turns and old enough to begin learning a craft.
Though many tears were shed, Serrekhar reluctantly agreed to to begin learning Fishercraft from a smaller Hall near the shores of the Western continent. Serrekhar studied hard at the Hall, always keeping in regular touch with his sister, and it was the building of ships that really caught his attention. It was what he began to focus on in earnest, and he dreamed of one day being able to build ships for all sorts of people.
The return of Thread was naturally unexpected… and deadly. Though ravaged, the Hall still stood, but many were caught outside before they could retreat to safety. It was, without a doubt, the most terrifying day of Serrekhar’s life. He frantically tried to get in contact with his sister, desperate to know that she was alright. Fortunately, she had escaped unharmed, though the same couldn’t be said for her ship. Still, as practical as ever, Khaliserre said a ship could be replaced, and told Serrekhar to continue focusing on his studies. Turns passed.
Serrekhar was able to walk the tables shortly after his nineteenth Nameday, and was sent to a small, nearby Hold to begin assisting with the creation of small fishing vessels. A Searchrider found him there, and informed him that he had the potential to Stand as a candidate. His knee jerk reaction was to refuse outright. What, did he look crazy?! No way did he want to risk his life fighting Thread! Let someone else do it!
But the more he thought about it, the more it gnawed at him. If he could do something… if there was a chance he could protect people… shouldn’t he? Or was he just going to be a big coward and hide whenever bad things happened? What if his sister was caught out in the ocean again and there wasn’t a dragonrider to help her?
Having concluded his business, the rider and dragon were preparing to leave…just for Serrekhar to sprint after them, shouting at the top of his lungs that he’d do it, so they better not leave him behind! And so he was brought to Western Weyr… for better or for worse.
