 Derecho is a weak stallion far from living up to the strength his parents and herd possess. His weakness is believed to be related to the difficult birth of him and his siblings which also involved a skinwalker attack. Derecho has tried hard ever since he came out of his basket to become strong and be the stallion his parents want him to be but the truth is he just doesn't have the strength or stamina to keep up with anyone. He is determined to prove himself at some point, it will just likely take him a lot longer than anyone else. Good thing he's a bit stubborn or else he might have given up a long time ago on this goal. He tends not to fly as it is too tiring for him to keep up for long, as such he is a grounded winged Soquili at the moment only flying when absolutely necessary.

 Growing up in the Thunderbird Herd Derecho had a fairly normal childhood. His parents and other family members, along with the rest of the herd, were constantly around to see to his growth and ensure he was well protected and cared for. But all that protection in the world could not undo what had occurred to him when he had been placed in his basket. The traumatic birth had left the colt severely weakened. Though many said he would quickly grow out of his weakness it was not to be so. Throughout his foalhood Derecho struggled to keep up with his energetic brothers, eventually he just gave up all together and resided on being the herds failure. But that sense of failure didn't last too long, eventually, during one of his many days alone resting, he decided he would fight this weakness and become the strong herd member his parents expected him to be.
Though the determination has stuck with him since that day Derecho has continued to struggle with his weakness. There are things he can do now as an adult that he couldn't do as a foal but he still has a long road ahead of him to reach the point where he knows he will make his parents proud. He will not give up on this goal, even if it takes him his entire life he will see it through because above all else Derecho is too stubborn and too determined not to try.
