Name:A'star (A'sstar on the days his wife is upset with him) (formerly Arystar) Age: 45 Sex: Male Sexual Orientation: Euryalesexual Weyr: Western Weyr Rider Rank: Wingrider Previous Rank/Craft: Journeyman Smithcrafter/Jeweler Physical Description: A'star is a tall man with broad shoulders but averagely muscled. He has medium olive skin, dark hair that leans towards red, and light brown eyes. The creases around his eyes give him a look of perpetual smiles. His hair is cropped short and his facial hair is well maintained, never growing long enough to make him look scruffy. Personality: A'star may not be the ideal 'manly' man in the eyes of many. He's a little too gentle and a little too nurturing. In any show of machismo, he is not even ranking in the competition. While some could try to attribute this to having been married for 17 turns, he's always been on the softer side. A'star is the doting father and husband that is mending rips in tunics, making sure everybody has shoes that fit, and that the weyr is clean. There is no doubt that those that are his - family or dragon - are well taken care of.
The devotion he has to his family, while inspiring, can also make him too soft, easily a pushover when it comes to make decisions based around them. Does he want to go out for a drink with his wingmates or go back to his weyr and be with his ever assertive Euryale? Of course he's going to choose her first. He can also be sickeningly sweet when it comes to conversations about his family, to the point of annoyance. If he had pictures of them, they'd be out all of the time. Some of his children may even be horrendously embarrassed about the entire affair. But seriously, have you seen how beautiful his wife is? How strong she is? Have you seen the beautiful kids she's given him?
With a family he loves and cares for, paired with a dragon that is obscenely dependent on her sister emotionally, A'star is not prone to do anything that would put him or Miryath into immediate or disastrous levels of danger. New changes in the structure of his life are met with strong resistance and hesitation, and he is never the first to try something new. Major shuffles have to be eased into, and he will hyperfocus on them and even grow to a point of panic depending on the degree of change. He can require some talking down to his senses of calm (and most often, it is his wife who is doing this). He will go to -100 and have to be brought back up to an even calm much more often than he will get excited about it. Positive Trait List Nurturing, Devoted, Safe Negative Trait List Pushover, Obnoxiously Gushy, Panics over Change History: Two slaves of Nabol escaped into the night. Arybarst and Yalem, once they were firmly in the clear, made their way to the Western Continent. Barely in their twenties, the two took up vocations of their own, and remained close to each other out of a shared childhood and escape. Arybarst took up life as a Jeweler with his dear friend supplying gems from his Gemcutting. Both took up wives, and by some alignment of the stars, their children were born the same day. Deeming it fate, Arystar and Euryale were engaged from the day of their birth.
The last thing Arystar ever wanted to do was marry Euryale. She was too tough, where he was slightly more gentle, and she was just a bit too tomboyish, and she was often too right. He hated every one of these traits about her, but with their homes practically right next door to one another, he had to see her every day, while their father's beamed with pride at the idea of uniting their families. Yelistar, Arystar's mother, was slightly less enthused seeing how her son hated the idea, but Arybarst insisted he would grow into it.
When he was 22, a Searchrider came in the middle of wedding plans. To escape this predestined fate of his, the second the rider said he had the makings of a Dragonrider, Arystar immediately chose to go, giving his mother the barest of farewells and leaving with little input from the rest of the family (or letting Euryale know. After all, she didn't like the idea of this wedding either!). There are many who recall the look on his face at his first candidate lesson where he saw a familiar woman in the class - Euryale. She, with the very same out and the very same motivation, had also come to Western Weyr.
They were absolute terrors to each other, turns and turns of pent up feelings bubbling out of them and more than one physical altercation (that Arystar lost) had to be broken up. The only time they put their feelings aside was when they were on the sands, standing as far away from each other as possible. Neither impressed. The most notable fight was right after the pair had unintentionally moved to touch the same large egg together. Both insisted that the dragon inside was absolutely their soulmate.
Out of the egg spilled two greens who roamed the sands together, nearly - and almost literally - inseparable. The darker of the two appraised the situation calmly, clicking her tongue, before consulting with her smaller sibling. Then, their voices curling in unison, they called out: Arystar, Euryale. Your Miryath and Theath need you to come closer. We could never bear to be apart!...Please?
The two passed a look between each other as they approached, grudgingly accepting the company of the other as they headed to the feeding table together. Arystar hoped it wouldn't be something they had to battle with for a long time.
Any moment the twins were apart was a horrible one, with them pining for their other half to the point of choosing seats next to each other at every meal, every lesson, and seeking their sibling out even in free time. Arystar expected to hate every minute of it, and even braced himself for it. However, their lifemates being so connected allowed the two a unique insight into each other and for conversations that stemmed for a mutual adoration of their lifemates. The absolute connection of the twins also kept them from having any private thoughts to themselves.
Between open communication and a shared passion given to themselves and not inherited, Artystar fell in love with his intended, Euryale. 6 turns after both were searched, they returned to their home to be wedded - a gift to their fathers to be witness to it.
The two have since had several children - 6, to be exact, the most recent born within the last month. As the earliest were born before Threadfall, they now help their parents with the youngest, keeping all of their young ones together between their personal weyr and the creche and all are so very, very loved. Other: Each of A'star and Euryale's kids has a running nickname since before they were born. Bump(17), Repeat (15), Fugitive (12), Accomplice (12 and very unexpected), Loaf (4), and Nugget (1 month). They tend to use this nicknames over their given ones quite liberally, but if mom or dad starts shouting by their given name, someone is in trouble!
Miryath and Theath are from Neliath's Maiden Flight! HI MOM!!
