Physical Description:
A tall and lean 6'4", A'ryx will always be more elegant than muscular, no matter what he does; fortunately, being the strongest has never been of any concern to him. He keeps his white-blonde hair fairly short, and often sports a well-groomed little goatee. His eyes are dark enough that the exact color can be difficult to discern.

Personality:
A'ryx is a quiet, reserved man, although not a truly shy one; he doesn't lack the confidence to speak his mind, he just doesn't always find it necessary to bother. He is cool, composed, and difficult to ruffle in any way, and can get along well - or at the very least coexist - with most types of people. In his quiet calm, he can come across as aloof, a perception not helped by how unfailingly polite he is in every word and action. He treats everyone, regardless of rank or age or any other characteristic, with sincere courtesy, and underneath his careful composure lies genuine concern for the wellbeing of others. He may not show or voice it as openly as some, but it is there and true nonetheless. He will say or do what he can to help, if needed, and will be subtle about it, if at all possible; he has little desire for attention, and prefers to avoid making any kind of scene.

Though he doesn't suffer from a lack of self esteem, A'ryx is someone with very little ego, and eschews the spotlight, leaving it to those it makes happy. He will put others ahead of himself to his own detriment; he attests that he is content as he is and needs no more than he already has, both in the material sense and in life in general. The truth as to why he's never developed any ambition, however, is that he has yet to find anything that he wants, or a reason to be more than he thinks he is. It is enough to be a capable rider, a dependable friend, or even just a kind stranger. Why should he keep anything for himself, when someone else might need or deserve it more? What he does keep, he does so at the insistence of his dragon, in order to please him.

Were he not cleverer than he lets on, A'ryx could be easy to take advantage of, but he's spent his life observing people, and is practiced at reading personalities and deducing motivations. Depending on the person and situation, he may allow them to push, and may appear to give way if that seems the wisest course of action; he would rather defuse tension than escalate it, when possible, even if it means taking a blow of some kind. If it means someone else taking a blow, though, that is a concession he's not willing to make. Scene or no, he will stand up when needed.

Aside from the task of fighting Thread, which he embraces readily, A'ryx lacks real drive and direction in his life. He is not a self-starter, and in the absence of an external force or need, would simply drift along with the current of life. He thinks himself content with this, but it's merely self-deception; he doesn't want to want anything, and so convinces himself that he doesn't. He is an expert not only in talking himself out of his own wants, but in assuring himself that it's for the best, and he is happy and fulfilled. In reality, there is a void he covers over and ignores, while it only grows the more he denies himself.

History:
A'ryx grew up a mercenary, but was ill-suited to the life: too considerate, too passive, too soft, all traits his mother insisted must have come from his father. There was no denying that she was disappointed in her son's inherent nature, but while she was a hard woman to please, she wasn't cruel, and as it was apparent that he would never be happy in that life, she sent him off to Keroon to study at Runner Hall. He'd always been a good hand with the beasts, his calm and quiet nature lending itself to work with animals, and it could be a noble enough calling in its own right.

He was content there and happy with his lot for a few turns, taking particular interest in training, until the fateful day a Searchdragon came calling, and he was one of two apprentices plucked out to go to High Reaches as new candidates. He didn't Impress in that first clutch he stood for, nor the one after it; he waited for the better part of seven turns for his dragon to come to him, and in the meantime was patient and diligent in his studies, a very model candidate who never caused or added to trouble. The young man never truly expected to Impress, not when there were so very many other candidates, for many of which dragonriding was the be-all and end-all, and so it seemed presumptuous to think that he should be one of the lucky ones who would Impress.

...and yet he did, to a large and handsome bronze that many a boy would have done anything to have. He almost felt bad for 'taking' him, when he would have been content with anything, but this once, he couldn't quite bring himself to feel guilty. Zijianth was his, and he was Zijianth's, and he wouldn't have it any other way, everyone else's feelings be shaffed. Just this once.

As weyrlings, they were an attentive and diligent pair, with Zijianth cultivating closeness to any of his clutchmates who would have it, and they made it through that turn without suffering any significant mishaps. They graduated into fine wingriders, and saw no need or reason to leave High Reaches to pursue a life elsewhere. Consequently, when Thread returned, they were well-prepared to do their duty, and have done so since without hesitation or complaint.

Physical Description:
Though he sits at maximum length for a bronze, Zijianth doesn't have the corresponding bulk; instead, he is slender and graceful, making for quite a lovely and refined specimen. He can be surprisingly quick and at times even agile for a dragon of his color, but his endurance doesn't seem to suffer too much for it; even if he physically tires, sheer will and pride can keep him in the air for longer than might be wise.

Personality:
It is hard to find a more loyal compatriot than Zijianth, who bonds easily and deeply to his kin, whether clutchmate or wingmate. Everyone to whom he becomes attached will find themselves dubbed 'brother' or 'sister,' and if willing be subject to the attentions and affections of this exceedingly tactile bronze. There is little he loves more than a good cuddlepile or playfight, and if at all possible he will be in physical contact with any nearby friend or friends, even if it's just to touch his tail to theirs. He doesn't have a colorist bone in his body, and is as happy in the company of chromatics as metallics. Gleaming greens and golds alike will be chased and adored, and should they not choose him, he will count himself no less fortunate to catch the eye of another male instead.

While not preoccupied with the color of his hide, he is still possessed of a casual sort of arrogance; he doesn't necessarily think of himself as better, but he is a fine, fine dragon in every respect, and he knows it. He has utmost confidence in himself in all things, and if His were to want rank, he wouldn't hesistate to earn his way up and would comport himself well in whatever station they achieved, but has no desire for rank just for rank's sake. His greatest ambition is simply to be a good dragon, a good brother and brother-and-arms, to serve the Weyr with everything he has to give. At heart, he is a servant to the greater good, and can always be depended on to complete whatever task he has been given, and will do whatever he must to see it through. He thrives on being useful and needed, and on being told so. He doesn't actively solicit and fish for praise, but oh, how he wants it! He knows that his adored and most perfect rider will always give him the affection he craves, but there's nothing wrong with more.

Zijianth does love more. Friends, attention, affection, food, baubles, just all the things. While not one to make demands, to bully or steal, he is a covetous beast who loves fine things, both for himself and for His. He would sleep atop a pile of treasures were he at all able to, but alas, he does not have that many trinkets. He is jealously possessive of what he does have, and parting with any of it is painful - but he will, to give a gift to someone he holds dear. He wants the best of gear and accessories, and A'ryx indulges this vanity of his with no real objection.
