He can it's just i'm confused on that. Sorry. .__. Is it like muttation but only mixed with digivoulution of choice? @_@ I'm thinking dark and you want holy. So i'm not sure.

It says it can digivolve any digimon into any digimon preferred into their next form. Taken straight from the first page

It means, oh, I want to "expected" digivolve it. Unexpected turns your digimon into random, but digi-egg of darkness it like an expected digivolution that the tamer wants.
Haven't you used it before? Can you tell me your digivolutions including other digimon?

I used unexpected to digivolve my demidevimon into wizardmon then warp digivolved wizardmon into pharoahmon and i used digivolve to digivolve black garurumon into blackweregarurumon
