Rand turned around at the presence of the Huntress, shamed to admit that he hadn't thought to sense her presence like Shechina had. "Well, I guess I'm definitely the one with the most to learn," he stated softly, sliding down among the tall grasses to sit. Keeping the now completed yellow rose in his hand the Fire Mage added more energy to the flower, letting it start growing slowly in size and length. Taking the time out to focus on the Huntress's presence he could feel the strange mixture of the elements that denoted her being, only truly able to identify his own element of choice among the mix.

“The trees that whisper in the evening... Carried away by a moonlight shadow...”"That's not entirely true. Most mages are unable to hide themselves as well as I can and none have more than one element in their aura to confuse things, so it is understandable that you weren't able to sense me right away.", Huntress responds. She watches his flower for a moment before the stem suddenly turns green and the thorns black and silver, though she left the petals yellow. She glances back at Shechina for a moment, "And please do not call me madam." “Sing a song of sorrow and grieving... Carried away by a moonlight shadow...” -'Moonlight Shadow', Mike Oldfield

Rand turned the now detailed flower over in his flame, impressed with the exceptional work the Huntress had added onto his creation. "Nevertheless it's a skill I should aim to acquire. Especially since I'm going to need to deal with most of the Fire Mages right?" He hadn't felt comfortable with the Huntress's changes to his work, but he was far more impressed with her ability to adapt his magic while he was still in the process of evoking it. I wonder if I'll ever be able to do the same thing. I mean, flame is flame, but I've never tried controlling another flame beyond my own. That's something I'll focus on first. Raising his empty left hand the Guardian created a cyan flame over his palm, his eyes narrowing in concentration over this second piece. "Maybe...Just maybe..."

“The trees that whisper in the evening... Carried away by a moonlight shadow...”The Huntresses eyes return to Rand and whatever he was trying to do. "Maybe what?", she asks. She could just pull the answer from his mind, but she respected the humans need for mental privacy. Mental shields were high on the list of things to be taught. “Sing a song of sorrow and grieving... Carried away by a moonlight shadow...” -'Moonlight Shadow', Mike Oldfield

"Maybe...Can I create more permanent sculptures from my element? Is it possible to sculpt something out of the flames I create or am I grasping at straws?" he asked aloud, his energy poured into the cyan flame crafting it to his liking. He began with the outline of a woman, condensing and shortening the flame above his palm into a basic design with long flowing hair. Separating the streams of energy he tried to replicate the Huntress's effects, turning the hair silver, adding a mask to obscure the features, draping the remainder of the garb from the being before him to make his miniature of his mentor.

“The trees that whisper in the evening... Carried away by a moonlight shadow...”"A sculpture made of fire requires a constant source of energy in order to keep it going, so it is not often done.", the pale woman responds. She watches him sculpt for a few moments before adding, "Most mages don't have this amount of control." “Sing a song of sorrow and grieving... Carried away by a moonlight shadow...” -'Moonlight Shadow', Mike Oldfield

Rand shrugged as he completed his miniature creation in the image of the pale Huntress, the main overtone of the cyan flame base still visibly despite the few decorative changes he had made. "I suppose flame does need something to fuel it or else it would die out," he mused aloud, wondering what exactly his purpose for the future would be. Yes, he had his own goal of vengeance, and yes he knew he was supposed to help prevent the incoming war between the Kingdoms; but what remained after that? Did he even consider thinking ahead beyond his duty? Shaking his head at her second statement the Fire Guardian responded softly. "This amount of control doesn't mean much when I still have so much more to learn from you."

“The trees that whisper in the evening... Carried away by a moonlight shadow...”"It's easier to teach what I must when I don't have to worry about you burning everything down." The Huntress looks back in the direction she had come from, sending out a thought to Valiant, "Come here." “Sing a song of sorrow and grieving... Carried away by a moonlight shadow...” -'Moonlight Shadow', Mike Oldfield

Rand shrugged in turn to the Huntress's statements; he guessed he could understand the point that he wasn't setting the beginnings of a forest fire during training. "A fair point. But I think I'd like to learn how to create mental shields first. It would make my life much easier to be able to conceal myself like you can, or at least disguise my magic until I choose to use it. Sometimes I just have too much energy during the daytime." Keeping the sculpture of her levitating in the air he added the rose above his left hand, freeing his right palm to start making a forest green flame for his next little project.

While Rand was working with his flame sculptures, Shechina found a spot on the grass and sat, closing her eyes, to meditate. She knew it wouldn't help her find her cousin since they were of two different elements, but at least it would calm her mind somewhat.

“The trees that whisper in the evening... Carried away by a moonlight shadow...”The Huntress falls back into a comfortable crouch as she watches them. "Mental shields are fairly easy once you understand them, but hiding your magic is far more difficult and not as big a concern." She looks up at the sky as she continues, "For a shield, think of a single object, such as a wall or a dragon scale for example, until that's all that fills your thoughts. If done correctly, this will make it so that whoever is trying to enter will only see whatever object you're thinking about." “Sing a song of sorrow and grieving... Carried away by a moonlight shadow...” -'Moonlight Shadow', Mike Oldfield ((I'm trying to go by what I remember from the Eragon books when the main guy was being taught to do this...))

Rand could relate to his mentor's opening lesson; he just had to find a single point to focus upon and use that as a mental wall. How strong the wall would be depended solely upon his mental concentration as well as how well he had been trained. With enough practice, it could even be possible to instinctively defend himself against any number of infiltrators trying to breach his mind. A proper image...A dragon scale would work nicely, but I'd rather think of something particularly important or significant to me. Immediately as the forest green flame started recreating itself into Leigh Ann's features the Fire Guardian was pouring his attention between the magic at hand and his chosen shield. He reflected back onto the quiet forest cabin that had been his childhood home, his thoughts centered around recreating as much of a flawless replica of his abandoned inheritance as well as the original occupant.
((Glad I finished the Inheritance Cycle now so I know what you're describing. XD))

Valiant walked up, happy about his magic, but not overly so to where it showed. Keeping a calm face, he listened to what she had to say. A mental barrier, eh? A wall and a dragon scale didn't seem to work for him though. Instead, a coiled snake appeared in his mind and he focused on it. A king cobra. He focused on that, breathing, not thinking about anything else. That was relatively easy. He went through most things without too much thought.

Leigh Ann was silent, watching the beautiful fire sculptures form. She blushed when the one started taking her form, finding it even more flattering that someone paid so much attention to her appearance than she had at all of the compliments the fire mage had paid her. She sat down as well and began to think of her own shield image. She thought of the forest she grew up in, of the things she felt connected with and that calmed her. Finally she pulled up the image of a rock whose shape stuck out at her. It stuck out of the top of a waterfall she'd play around as a child, the steady stream of water over the years had sculpted it into the shape of a deer.

SKBCTayuyaFluteofDeath Avani laughed at Kota's friends' reaction and let the flowers return to where she'd pulled them from. "Follow me, if you please," she said, smiling, and started off down the road toward town. The guys jumped to their feet and coughed. "Get ready gents!" Kota called out. The men quickly got dressed trying not to gag as they ran from the flowers towards town. Kota laughed before squatting. "Get on my back." He told Avani smiling.
