“I would have figured that rumors are what they are and nothing more.” Tristen said after putting down a bite of his sandwich. “I think the thing that bothers me more is who started it? And why? What do they have to gain?” Tristen thought back for a moment over the past couple of days; he kept thinking back to the initial class when he was in that triple battle with half the team. What if it wasn’t someone in there but instead of someone he only saw over this past couple of days. The only one that had any idea that Tristen was any level of decent trainer was Fela, and that was out of pure accident. He was suddenly compelled to ask… “Fela, did you bring up anything to anyone yesterday after we stopped training Scatterbug for the day?"

"Yesterday? No, I don't think I said anything to anyone about our training session with Scatterbug..." Fela said, putting her own sandwich down to think for a moment. "Most I might have said was something to Penny that night after, asking her if she got any training in with her own Scatterbug. She danced around the answer. Besides that...no. Why? Is it about one of your Pokemon?" Fela asked, piecing together somewhat why Tristen asked her, figuring it had something do with the sudden appearance of his Dragonite. It made sense, if anyone learned of the new student having something as powerful as a Dragonite it would certainly stir up rumors. "...you don't think someone else happened to see us, do you? We weren't that far from the front gate."

"I didn't notice anyone." Tristen said to Fela. Tristen thought for a moment, wondering if there was anyone that had to gain anything from getting the better of Tristen...or maybe...Matteo? Gloria from the Home Ec class was a thought. Only a hour in that class and it did look like she made it her whole life to antagonize Matteo in any way she possibly could, and considering that he underminded everything she was about in that one hour, perhaps she was spiteful. She wasn't exactly thrilled when that class was over yesterday, after all. He couldn't really go and accuse her. He had nothing to go with it. For the time being, Tristen had to drop the subject. Regardless of who done it, Tristen was in deep. And given that Matteo once again made himself look in dire need of a helping of humble pie, he had to commit it looked like. "I guess I might as well expect the worst to come from this..." he sighed. He finished off his sandwich then looked at the clock. "Looks like the next class is about to start up. See you after class for Scatterbug?" he then asked.

"Sure! Some spot as yesterday, okay?" She smiled, collecting her trash and standing up to walk away but then noticed the twins looking lost and pathetic. "...okay, I'll help you guys. Matteo normally does this..." She muttered the last part as she started to help the twins gather themselves for the next class.

"Bye Big T!" They said to Tristen in unison, jumping to their feet to give Tristen a quick hug each before going back to collecting their trays.

With all done and said Tristen would be free to head off to his third period class for the day; history with a Ms. Raifort.

The classroom was easy enough to find by this point, Tristen entering and spotting too familiar faces, both of which were of recent topics; Matteo and Gloria. The Growlithe hybrid as in the back looking like he was moping still, doodling in his notebook. Gloria on the other hand was up front with her Lechonk out, petting and snuggling it and when Tristen entered she gave him a wave of uncertain intent, felt like it could be sincere or sarcastic.

Either way it was time for Tristen to find a seat.

As the three of them left, Tristen waited for a second. There was one other thing he started to realize just now, noting how the twins were just then. It was a wonder just how this sort of thing affects more than the directly affected. With Matteo now hell bent to make sure Tristen knew his arbitrary place, he's neglecting everyone else. The twins, for all intents, needed Matteo in their own way. All this lunch period, Matteo didn't even so much as say a word to them, acknowledged them, practically made himself look pretty bad in front of those two. Tristen knew how that was when Tails went off without a word. He felt a bit lost as well at one time. He could sympathize quite a lot. Tristen never imagined himself getting involved in this way, but it looks like something needed to be done. With one more sigh, he got up and went to put away his tray.

After taking a quick detour to a restroom before class along the way to the classroom, he found himself in the history class room. He noticed Matteo there, apparently in his own world, still rather despondent about anything around him. Though as he made his way deeper in to find himself a desk, he then noticed Gloria. He maintained his composure, despite nearly cursing at himself at thinking Gloria being a suspect in the rumor milling. He felt as if he almost willed her into this class today. He was almost sure that it was a sarcastic wave, considering yesterday during home ec, but he was going to take the high road. A slight wave back, with nary a word to her. He wasn't afraid of her anymore he was of Matteo. There wasn't really much she could do right now in any case and that slight wave hopefully sent that proverbial message. He would then pick an open seat and took a sit down and started to get his notebook and pen out to get ready for a long session of note taking.

Tristen would find himself sitting next to neither Matteo nor Gloria, instead in the middle of the room, perhaps for the best. Tristen would find himself sitting in silence for several minutes, Matteo nor Gloria giving him any further attention as Matteo was too busy brooding still and Gloria was still wrapped up in pampering her Lechonk. Regardless of his classmates where was the teacher? This was the longest amount of time he has experienced between arriving in the room and when the teacher shows up.

"Sorry class, I was running a bit behind. I had some other matters to tend to." Ms. Raifort immediately explained as she walked into the room, the purple haired woman immediately finding her place behind her desk, looking slightly disheveled as if she were too busy to keep herself looking presentable. Whatever had her so preoccupied was anyone's guess as she would not elaborate on it. "Okay class, please pull out your textbooks and turn to page seventy-eight..." Ms. Raifort instructed them, not evening waiting for the bell to ring as she immediately went into her lesson, turning to face the giant touchscreen to bring up some pictures of ancient Alfornada, if the text on the screen was to be believed. She sure seemed to be in a rush.

It felt a little weird at the moment. Usually, he had someone to talk to before the teacher showed but now that didn’t seem to be the case. The only one that he’d probably have any interaction with was Matteo, but he’s still showing himself to be bitter. He only wondered a bit just what he was scribbling away in his notebook; Matteo didn’t seem the sort to be that enthralled in class like that.

Eventually, class would in fact start. Tristen was a little surprised to see Ms. Raifort make her way into the classroom. She apparently was all manner of disorganized and didn’t seem all manner of ready for the class, though it wasn’t hard to figure out why. He knew of the other Snagems and their run with trying to find the Herba Mystica, with her alongside, the story told to him by Freth in dealing with the giant crab Pokémon and the giant plant Pokemon for that matter. Though, he didn’t know what that part of the team had planned on today. Whatever it was, apparently it did allow for Ms. Raifort to break away, if albeit temporarily. He wasn’t going to say anything on it; it’d probably show his hand. It didn’t stop him from starting to imagine whatever involvement she had in finding this Herba Mystica didn’t exactly make her exempt from running her own classes. Or that much at least. He’d open his text book and started to find the page in question, seeing that they were about to talk about ancient Alfornada, but he was about to wonder just how well he was going to get any lesson from her today. Was she in a hurry to get back out to the other Snagems? Probably…

Ms. Raifort would go into detail about how Alfornada used to be a vital rest stop for those traveling the region, particularly those traveling to Cascarrafa from this side of the river or fishing in the western sea. At one point Alfornada once served as a point of strategic value to hold south western Paldea in the days of the Paldean Empire, the city difficult for foes to reach thanks to the natural defenses of the Alfornada Cavern. This importance economically and military was reflecting in the ornate staircase Alfornada is famous for coupled with its intriguing tile work that reflects an era long past. Ritualistic Pokemon battles once took place at the time and even today it is used for Pokemon battles, particularly Gym Battles. Furthermore the city has strong ties to the Psychic type, so much so that most people walk the city with their Psychic Pokemon out freely. These days the city is mostly known for their unique form of exercise known as Emotional Spectrum Practice, so much so that trainers that wish to challenge the gym must undergo an ESP session.

"As you can see Alfornada is a city steeped in history. The city has also given us some important individuals, many of them possessing Psychic abilities, such as..." Ms. Raifort continued. If Tristen were paying close attention to Raifort and the textbook he'd noticed almost everything she said was simply lifted from the textbook, almost nothing improvised. She wasn't the type of teacher to just go by the material either, she was very passionate about history and whether or not Tristen knew it this was odd.

While the lesson was on going a pair of eyes would fall upon Tristen as Matteo finally took some time away from his brooding to stare at Tristen, as if he hoped he too would develop some Psychic abilities if he stared hard enough.

Tristen was deep in his note taking, trying to make sure that there was nothing he was missing. But as he went on, he took the occasional glance at his book, and stared in confusion. He stared to notice a few lines in the book here and there roughly about ten to twenty minutes in the lecture. She wasn't putting her own spin on this; this was spoken effectively word for word. It started to come off as odd to him, not because he knew anything about Raifort, but because that every other teacher, such as Mr. Jacq for the sciences and Ms. Tyme for math, had their own way of explaining the subject matter. While they did use text books, they went into depth as to what the material meant. He was left to wonder for a moment if that was the way she taught her classes or if there was something that stopping her from doing that. Like her expeditions with Snagem, for instance. That's what it had to be. He was at this point convinced he might just have to go back over the material just as he did with the books Freth gave him at the headquarters.

For the time being, Tristen would continue to go about still taking his notes. Though as he paid attention to the teacher, he had the unsettling feeling. That "significance sense" tingling. He caught notice to Matteo glaring at him; wondering what got him to decide to pay any attention to him as opposed to at lunch where he wouldn't even so much as look at anyone. He looked at the teacher for a second then over towards Matteo, trying to mind the teacher's lesson now that Matteo got his attention. He would give somewhat of a face, as if to ask "what?" without uttering a word.

Matteo didn't respond in kind to Tristen, instead he broke his stare and turned his attention back to his textbook. Again, Tristen would go nothing out of Matteo other than the fact that the boy was displeased with him for whatever reason.

"And that is how the Leaking Tower of Paldea got its name..." Ms. Raifort continued, telling them about one of the Ten Sights of Paldea located nearby Alfornada in the South Province. The teacher would go on, now just going into modern Alfornada's economy, mostly concerning the gym and tourism as it has since lost its strategic importance in an era of peace. Before long the bell would ring, illiciting the most emotion and interest in Ms. Raifort since class started as she spun around to check the clock and smiled.

"Okay class, that's all for today! Your assignment before we next meet is to write at minimum a four-hundred word essay about something you find interesting concerning Alfornada, the nearby cavern, or the Leaking Tower. If you need any help please feel free to contact me via the school's Pory Portal. Class is dismissed!" With class dismissed Ms. Raifort immediately began to pack her belongings, as if she was more eager to get out of here than the kids were. Though it looked like Matteo was just as eager as he practically ran out.

Either way, that was history class, now it was time for his last period of the day; homeroom, of which their homeroom teacher was none other than Mr. Jacq.

Tristen couldn’t help but roll his eyes at this point. This was becoming too much now. How in the world did Matteo ever get the friends he got to begin with is beyond him. Tristen too would do nothing more than to go back to his note taking and listening back to the lecture. He continued on, making sure to take note of the areas around the city, and not just the city in and of itself. He just let himself get lost in the lecture.

He'd perk up soon after, realizing what time it was. The end of class. He’d start taking note to the homework assignment. A 400-word essay about what he found interesting in reference to Alfornada or its surrounding areas such as the caverns or the Leaking Tower. That one sounds simple, but he realized that it was going to be a little more intensive considering that apart from what was in the lesson, he knows nothing of the place. Perhaps he would have to get in some more in-depth research with it. Perhaps instead of that ‘Pory Portal’, maybe he could get GRAY to help. But as he started to come to that realization, he took notice the teacher was already out of the class. Matteo was as well, well before everyone else got the chance to bail out. Tristen would just silently move his stuff back into his pack and just got up.

One more place to be: back to Mr. Jacq for the Homeroom session. As he made his way through the halls, through the sea of bodies, he was a little deep in thought. He still couldn’t help but to wonder who started all of these rumors. Just a few words and the whole school has a paradigm shift, and it was causing a divide between him and Matteo before anything actually got started good. Maybe he’d have to confide in Fela when he meets up with her this afternoon after classes.
PostPosted: Wed May 22, 2024 4:06 pm
As Tristen walked into homeroom he'd find a lot of familiar faces this time with Penny, Nemona, Fela, E., B., Gloria, and Matteo all seated. As luck would have it all the students he had got to know so far were in his same homeroom at the same period, what were the odds? Mr. Jacq was already here too, giving the students a little nod as they entered as he looked up from the book he was reading before the bell rang.

Penny was engrossed in something in her phone like usual, typing away at it furiously.

Nemona was pretending to be reading her textbook but really she was reading a magazine on Pokemon battles.

Fela was actually reading her textbook and taking notes, trying to get some work in for another class.

Both E. and B. were being their rambunctious selves, chatting away as they hung off their chairs.

Gloria of course was obsessing over her Lechonk, feeding the pig churros she had bought during lunch, the Pokemon happily eating.

And then there was Matteo, no longer sulking per se but he was sitting by the windows and just staring out them.

The only free desks were ones adjacent to each of his ‘friends’. Where would Tristen sit?

Of all the things to happen, apparently everyone that he’s gotten to know apparently shared the same home room with him. He almost wondered if he walked into the wrong place. Fate it seems to have a weird way of going about things. He had his pick of the lot of seats to choose from, some of which next to those he knew. Matteo was probably a no-go for now. If Matteo wants to start something, it’d probably be best out of the class room. He’d probably deal with him later. Truthfully, he had to make sure that things stay good with the others that he started to make friends with. He’d see Fela later after school for Scatterbug, so he’ll talk to her then. If he started to ask questions about Matteo or if Matteo was brought up in any capacity, chances are he'd probably overhear it, being of the canine sorts just as he was. So probably sitting with B and E was probably out of the question. After giving it some quick thought, he made his way over towards a seat, finding his way over towards Penny and sitting down. “Hey Penny.” He said sitting his pack down. “Everything going alright?”
PostPosted: Wed May 22, 2024 5:05 pm
"Hm? Oh, hi Tristen." Penny said as she briefly looked up from her phone, gave Tristen a little wave, and then right back to tapping away at it. "Everything is fine. Just getting some code work done. Those limited edition figurines aren't cheap, especially the new Sylveon's Kiss one coming out..." She seemed to just randomly blurt out. Looked like she was doing side gigs for money to buy figurines or some sort? Who knows. "...you need something?" She asked, never looking up from her phone.

“No, not really. Though I am kind of wondering what homeroom is about. I didn’t have anything like this back at home.” He said to Penny. Though, technically…not a lie either. “Fela and I are going to meet up after class again to see about the Scatterbug for science class, you want to come with us? Or did you finally get in touch with your partner?” He said, still trying to be helpful. Given Fela’s reaction yesterday after Penny left, he figured to leave the invitation out in the open.
