Amy grinned when Kits said it wasn't really work to her, either. Then, she nodded as Kits explained to Rod about the potions shop.
"I also think it would help both our stores more if the potions were just sold here. But I agree with you about the customers she already has. I don't think she should stop that, and I'd never dream of asking her to stop that. But big sales and displays, I'm really hoping she just stays with AS for that part. I mean, we have to think about this from a business standpoint. This potions store will be all hers, but we are providing her with a large clientele that comes here to hang out. If they think they can only buy it here or set up a shipping arrangement, then they'll want to buy the potions even more, I think. Plus, I think this will be such a big hit that others will want to try and get Liada to sell potions at their places, too. It's no secret that AS has been accused in the past of stealing other places' ideas before. Even though we never have, I wouldn't be surprised if someone tried to copy ours and Liada's current business venture. The more exclusive the item is, the harder it can be to get, the more desirable it is. By having it at AS, we don't make the potions hard to get, but we limit the area where you can get them, besides being able to order directly from Liada like over the phone or setting up a sale directly with her, and increase customers coming into AS and to the potions shop. But like you said, it's up to Liada since these are her potions. She's a very smart business woman and I'm pretty sure she'd see it this way, too."
She chuckled and shook her head. "I'm sorry. Talking way too much here. And we won't be putting up the posters until we get Liada's approval. And maybe she'll say these are okay to put up now and we can put up others with the corrections on them later."
Amy's face brightened when she thought about what Kits said about the garden. "And of course I want you to do it with me if you want to! Sharing gardening with a good friend is something that would be a lot of fun, I think."

Amy sighed in relief and nodded. "You're probably right. Thanks Kits."
Amy's buzzed in her pocket, so she picked it up and read the text she got as she responded to what else Kits said.
"And of course you'd want to know what the plan for the garden will be and how it will be laid out. AS is as much yours as it is mine, Kits, and you deserve to know what I was hoping to do with the garden... And as soon as I know, I'll let you know."
She chuckled at her last statement. "I still think it'd be fun to have you out there gardening with me, but we'll see what you want to do when the time gets closer?"
After a few moments, she frowned at her phone.
"You know... Liada might not understand our reasoning for being exclusive at AS after all. I just got a text from her in response to that voice mail I left before. Here."
She handed her phone to Kits so she could read the text. "There are multiple texts, so you'll have to check all of them."
Liada's text to Amy Amy~
First-I would love to come by to see the posters, can you leave them somewhere where I could see them easily like at the lobby in case I don't run into you? The name Anira and I came up with for the name of the shop will be Ilsilme Rusco which is elvish for "Moonlight Fox" I think it has a lovely ring to it and it gives it an supernatural feel to it ya know? 4laugh
Secondly- Starting on construction together would be wonderful this week. The sooner the better, plus with my minions as construction workers they can work at night for you since 1. They can make sound barriers to prevent any noise complaints in the town 2. The construction can get done in half the time we have planned for this since my minions don't really need sleep like your staff would. So lemme know when you want me to send my crew over there and I will have Anira take care of it.
Thirdly- Where I would be fine with the posters saying that my potions will be exclusive at AS, Anira has informed me that Kat would like to have some certain potions for her own spa Pandora's Box to sell. I would like to send her a special line for her spa because she made an excellent point that they tend to have a lot of couples clientele which is where I make quite a bit of money from as is and not to mention I can send my "less family friendly" products through her. Kat is even wanting to have a stack of my business cards for my shop to go with her display of my potions which would bring more crowds to AS. As a business woman I need to keep in mind where the demands are and where I can spread my products so to speak so if you are willing to allow me to send that special line to Pandora's Box then we can have the rest of my products exclusive at AS.
Fourthly- I trust yours and Kits judgment for what you would like to put into the newsletter. As a little nudge for those who might be tempted I will offer a 10% discount on the grand opening day of my shop. You may want to think about a special bonus to promote for AS for buying one of my potions like a coupon for a free pet wash in your pets dept or something like that. This would be a bonus for your patrons with loving animals in the family. I think that's all I would have to say on my part for that.
Amy was quite angry at what she heard about what Kat wanted to do. "You know, I can't believe she just now came to Liada about wanting to sell potions at MW when Liada had just agreed to sell potions here. Excellent timing... And she's accused us of stealing her ideas before. Dammit..."
She sighed and ran both of her hands through her hair, which messed up her pigtails a little bit.
"I really like the name of the store, though, and the coupon idea..."

Amy took her phone back and pocketed it. "It's a very good name. It sounds mysterious and also, like Liada said, has a nice ring to it. I think customers will love it. Maybe we should keep the translation of the name a secret for awhile and then reveal it later, if Liada agrees to it? It could intrigue people."
"And with construction, do you think she means her minions would also work on our construction for the art exhibit? I had mentioned in the voice mail that we had hoped to start the indoor art exhibit soon. Or do you think she just means work on her shop? Maybe the sound barrier is just what would be for both constructions?"
Amy sat back further on the couch and sighed. "I just... I think it sucks, frankly, that we have someone starting a good business here and MW wants a piece of it. We had it first and they just want to copy it even though they've said we've done the same thing before. It's a double standard... But one of our smaller problems right now. Look, Kits, we can't advertise anything over at MW, and that actually has nothing to do with my feelings toward it. If we advertised anything over at MW, we'd be encouraging people to go over there, and you know that families might try that. Once they walked in and saw what it was like... they'd get furious and then come and get angry at us. We'd actually lose customers that way. We can't advertise a place like that."
Thinking about bonuses for shopping at the potions store and how much business that would bring in for both places caused a small smile to appear on Amy's face again.
"The coupon thing... I really like Liada's ideas on that. And a special offer each month is a really good idea, too, Kits. What would I do without you?"
She looked at her friend and smiled softly at her, thankfully.
At Rod's comment, Amy quickly looked over at Rod and then burst out laughing. She laughed so hard that tears started to come to her eyes. She wiped at them and then grinned at Rod.
"Oh man Rod... thank you for that. I really needed it. I don't know what 'less family friendly' means, except that maybe she'll be selling potions like viagra or something? Frankly, I don't see why she couldn't sell them here. She could put them on a top shelf where kids can't reach them or read them, and married couples would love them."

Amy's eyes widened at Rod's question. "Uh.. Rod, you have seen how they dress, how they behave, and the weapons they carry, right? All of that would be horrible for families. Plus, there's so much drinking there, cursing, both magical and verbal, nudity... Many families actually think it's a... a..."
She blushed slightly. "Well, some individuals have thought it was a brothel. Kids can't go there at all, so it's not a family friendly place. MW has the right to be that way, of course. But we don't want to send our clientele over there."
She grinned at Rod's grin and tried to explain Liada's potions as best she could. "I think she just has a variety of potions that she sells. Mostly, they promote well-being I think, which promotes one of AS's goal. I still think, though, that we could and should sell some of those more risque potions here, though. What do you think, Kits?"
