Physical Description: Ollanmar looks, perhaps unsurprisingly, strikingly similar to his twin. With the same dark skin and bright honey-amber eyes, he, too, often keeps his dark, wavy hair pulled back to keep out of his face. The main difference in their appearance is how they hold themselves. Ollanmar is a confident young man who often has a mischievous grin on his face. He keeps his head held high and is a tad more muscular than his brother.
Personality: Unlike his twin, Ollanmar is a confident individual who handles new situations and people with ease. He isn’t assertive to the point of arrogance, but knows his own worth and stands firmly on his own two feet without doubts or hesitation. He likes people as a rule, and it’s rare to see him without a grin on his face or a cheerful greeting on his lips. Who has time to be dour and moody? Definitely not Ollanmar.
He’s a competitive young man by nature, and likes to pit himself against his brother and peers over any old thing. Whether it’s a race to lessons or who can peel tubers the fastest, Ollanmar is out to win. The problem is, he doesn’t handle losing gracefully whatsoever. He becomes sullen and even snappish, hating the idea that he’s not the best at whatever he attempts to do. This competitive nature paired with his sore loser attitude can jeopardize his relationships--especially when he picks fights over it. Not everything has to be a competition, but Ollanmar doesn’t realize it. The flip-side to this is that he is an extremely motivated person. Someone did better than him on a test? Ollanmar is going to study twice as hard to show he’s just as smart as they are!
He’s definitely a person who seeks validation, and thrives on being told how good of a job he did. This means Ollanmar can be less inclined to do tasks when he can’t show the fruits of his labor--aka, he knows he won’t receive the praise he desperately craves. When people receive praise and he doesn’t, Ollanmar quickly becomes jealous and resentful.
Despite being his own worst enemy at times, Ollanmar is extremely protective of his friends and his brother. He would put himself in harm’s way any time if it meant keeping his loved ones safe. They’re the most important people in the world to him, and he’ll stand up to anyone who wishes them ill.

History: Ollanmar never let being the younger twin weigh him down. Yes, his brother Ollandin was technically older, but as far as Ollanmar was concerned, he was the leader of the pair. Their mother, Ollan, was a young woman who had come to Western on a trade caravan. If she hadn’t, she likely would have delivered on the road. Unfortunately, when the boys were about six months old, she passed away from a fever. The boys were raised in the creche without issue, and grew to be strong, healthy children.
Ollanmar had a playful (sometimes serious) rivalry with his twin, Ollandin, and they dared one another to be the first to Impress, and to handle the heat of the sands without moving. Life was good until Threadfall happened again. Ollanmar was inside the Weyr when Thread rained down once more, separated from his brother and desperate to rush out and find him. He was held back, of course, and though Ollandin was safe, Ollanmar became extremely protective of him. Anyone who even looked wrong at his older brother would get Ollanmar up in their face.
Though this protective hold has lessened slightly as time has gone on, Ollanmar still looks out for his younger brother, and will be the first to leap to his defense.
