Oh man, I hope I'm not about to give fuel for flamings....

I'm a Wiccan, which for those who don't know, is a religion based off of the magyk of the earth and beliefs in the Goddess (although not all Wiccans have to believe in a supreme diety of any kind). Yes, Wicca has been called witchcraft and honestly, while there is a difference, it's not a big one.

Wicca is a very flexible belief system, adjusting to each individuals' spiritual needs. But one law stands firm among ANY sect of Wicca you find:

"Eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill-
An' it harm none, do what ye will."

Pretty much, go through life with the goal that your actions don't negatively affect others. Pretty much sums up the main ideal of many other religions/beleifs, yes? It's something I try to enter in my life as much as our current society allows.

Wicca, by the way, has nothing to do with worshipping the Christian devil. I don't think any of us honestly believe he exists... sweatdrop (No offense meant!)

And yes, I get VERY annoyed by certain type sof overly-religious people. There is absolutely nothing wrong in pursuing your spiritual faith zealously. What is rude is trying to impress upon other people that their way is wrong and yours is right. I LOVE theological talks (theology is the one about studying other religons, yes????) and my best friend (LDS) and I get in discussions that go on forever! But she respects my views, and I hers. So people of different faiths (or lack of one, if the mentioned is aethist) CAN get along as good friends.

PIZZA PWNS.

Your wicca?!
*sighs* Lucky.
My mother would kill me if I got into that. ...

sweatdrop Really? I'm sorry. It always makes me sad when I hear someone who is interested in Wicca but can't due to family issues…If you have any questions though, feel free to ask! Unless, of course, that'd get you in trouble…We don't want you in trouble. >.<

But if you are still very interested in studying about it and don't mind waiting, by government law you can choose your own religion at age of eighteen.

I have a few questions like whats the religion basically about?
And is there anything you have to do to be a wicca?
Those are my only questions right now... That I could think of.
Yeah I know and I told my mom again that I wanted to be wicca and she said an I quote.
"You can be wicca when you get finished with school then colledge then get a house and a job."
.................
I felt depressed after. I can be a christan and everything else now, but NOT wicca? My mom is... Down right not fair. gonk

I'm just curious...how old are you? You mother might be able to make you go to church, but she can't make you to belive if you don't. My mother and I did not always agree on matters of faith (and we still don't!) but she couldn't force me to chose her path (and thankfully for me, my mother understood that...most of the time) I don't like to tell a child to LIE or go against their parents, but in a case such as this, I don't feel it is wrong for you to do some studying on your own.

MEH! I didn't mean for anyone to go out and disobey their parents!! I was just saying that when you're of legal age, you can change your religion to whatever you want. I didn't mean for you to get in trouble or feel bad... crying

But you asked me what Wicca is about so... arrow (Keep in mind that I'm a very secluded Wiccan, so all I know I had to learn from lots of books. Lots, and lots of books. I don't have a High Priest/ess or a nearby coven to talk to, so I don't have the best explanations)

Wicca is mostly a system of beliefs based around nature. There are different sects, like in Christianity, that will argue and so on (the offensive terms are white-lighter and Fluff-bunny. Such a cute insult, no?) but they all pretty much have the same ideals. One is kindess to all. Different sects and covens all have varying rules within their community, but all follow the one set-in-stone law, the Wiccan Rede.

"Eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill,
An' ti harm none, do what ye will."

Pretty much, whatever you do in life, strive to not hurt anybody. Some will take this to the extreme, and are vegans or vegitarians, but most others just thank the animal that provided meat before eating it.

Oh yeah, not all Wiccans beleive in a deity, but the large percentage that do mostly worship the Moon Goddess and her consort, the Sun God. There are many, MANY different variations of the Goddess, and since Wicca can be a flexible religion, you can choose whiever aspect of her you wish.

Since Wicca is a nature-based religion, many Wiccans recycle, and are very earth-conscientious. My mom, out of respect for my religion, buys as many things as possible that are all-natural and creulty-free.

Oh, and going iwth the Wiccan Rede, many Wiccans, but not all, beleive in the Threefold law, which is pretty much karma reborn. Whatever energy you send out into the world returns to you threefold in strength within time. So, to not get the painful end of that deal, Wiccans do what they can to send out good energy (and there is the Wiccan Rede).

About rituals, yes, Wiccans practice magyk, but it's nothing like Harry Potter, turn people into toads thing. It's mostly about energy, and almost half the major rituals you will find are about just bringin your relationship with the Goddess closer. Soemtimes if a family member is ill, a ritual may be held asking for a speedy and full recovery, but always performed with the consent of the one receiveing the energy. It's rude to send energy to one who does not wish it.

Like I said before, I don't have a coven nearby to talk to, so I haven't attempted any rituals by myself yet. So I don't have all that good of info on it.

To become Wiccan...First, research. Study, stufy, study. If you join a coven (which is pretty much a group of Wiccans, or a Wicca church) they'll ask you to study for a set period of time, which is often a year and a day. Until you finish the studying, you'll jsut be known as someone who wishes to pursue Wicca. By finishing the study you are declaring through actions you truly wishto be Wiccan. The rule is kinda strict because of the whole "Witches worship the devil" nonsene. We're having a bit of a hard time coming out from the broom closet. >.<;

If you end up being an ecletic Wiccan (like me) you can decide when you want that you are Wiccan. Many ecletics feel they just KNOW when they pass that mark of being an intiate to full-fldged.

Oh! Fun fact: Instead of marriage, Wiccans are 'joined' together by something called a Handfasting. Togther to couple holds hands and jumps over a broom, limbo style. To 'divorce', you do the same, only jumping backwards.

Okay, stopping the rambling. If you have more questions, just PM me. I'd be glad to answer them!

And Don't worry about your mom. Imderanged is right; she can tell you want she wants you to beleive, but only YOU can decide what to follow. It is a belief among many Wiccans that if the Old Path is meant for you, it will come for you. (Mine came for me in the form as a Yuletide present in a book as a joke...>.<)

Blessed Be!

HI,
I am a very strong Christain, and resently had a huge blessing. Do you guys know what Arthritis is? Well my knees hurt when i do alot of physical work, and i hust got back from a mission trip where i did alot of physical work, and normally my joints would have killed me with there pain from what i was doing, but they didn't hurt that week! It was such a blessing, and yes i find people who shove their religious views on people are annoying. But i do believe that there is hell, and people will go their based on there dissesions, and no matter how "good" they are, without Faith in God, they will noit go to Heaven. That doesn't mean that you have to live your life "perfectly", because the only human who is and will ever be Perfect is God's Son Jesus Christ. One of my favorite verses from the Bible is...
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Begotten Son, that whosoever belevith in Him, will not persish, but have ever lasting life"
John 3:16

And i absoutly LOVE pizza.
And Have any of you heard of or read the Twillight Saga by Stephenie Meyer?
I absolutly LOVE those books, and they have Vampires and Warewolfs in them, and thats fine.

Did you know that Stephanie Meyer is LDS (aka mormon)?

Alright, my turn to answer lol.

I am religious. I am LDS (aka mormon). I was born into this church but that is not the reason I follow it. Even when I was young, I had a strong belief in it. I can't really explain why but I do have my reasons and experiences. And yes, overly pushy people annoy me, even those of my own faith. I don't think it right to try to force someone to be a certain religion. It has to come by faith and such. Though, I do still support proselyting to let others know and learn for themselves about us.
As for pizza, the cheese actually makes me sick sometimes so I can only have it once in a while (like once a month or 2) depending on where its from. That, or I just take off the toppings and eat the dough with the sause lol
