"I'm not a big fan of scary movies, but if anyone ever asked me what scary movie(s) to watch I would send them to Alien, and the sequel Aliens.
Alien is one of my favorite movies, because you see so little of the alien throughout the whole movie, not just that, but it also leads you to believe that who you thought the hero of the movie would be is not. Great psychological thriller"

Prom Night sucked big time! I mean, it wasn't a big surprise that it did, but when I finally watched it, somewhat, at my friend's house it was like wow, this kinda frickin sucks, ALOT! The plot was stupid, though I know people get obsessed like that and it was a bit creepy, but scary it was not. Just, BOO!

I don't agree with Freddy V Jason, Halloween or The hills have eyes. I thought they were all fantastic films. The remakes and the originals.

I have a loooooong list of horror films I thought were utter s**t;

Mirrors - I actually couldn't believe how shitty this was. I thought because it had Kiefer sutherland in it might actually be decent, I was WRONG.
The grudge 1&2.
The ring.
The village
The Unborn
Scar
Open Water
Friday the 13th. Original and remake.

There are more but my mind has gone blank.

What is Mirrors and why have I never heard of it? confused

But you're right about the horror movies sucking major ash nowadays. There's just no creativity at all. No real suspense. They're so effing predictable and it's sickening.

Take, for instance, The Grudge. That movie sucked big time. And then they had the nerves to make a 2nd one. HA!

No but the horror movies today are like comedies so its something to do on a boring day

You know what movie I was SO excited to see but ended up getting let down big time?

Resident Evil.

When I was a wee kid I absolutely ADORED the Resident Evil games, so when I heard there was going to be a movie about them, I nearly s**t myself.
I got all worked up about it and then when I saw it I was heartbroken.
They completely ignored the storyline and all the characters
I mean really, who the hell is Alice? I was expecting Jill or maybe Leon.

And the same went for Doom.
They completely ignored the storyline and just made it so shitty that the movie practically raped my eyes.

Just two cases of game-based movies done terribly wrong.
One day someone should remake both of them. ):

You should watch The Children D:
That s**t is scary.
I also found most of Orphan scary.
The ending was...just weird D:

>0 but to your point, yes, most horror movies are just fail.
They end up being a good joke, but still, you wanted scary.

I just like to watch them for effects. They are too predictable and lame now.
And the torture movies like the "Saw" movies or "Hostel" just go for the gross-out factor to make up for the lameness of everything else in it.

I do enjoy really campy horror movies though. *sigh* I miss the super campy horror movies of the 80's. D:

Oh my god.. The Strangers.

I tried to sit through that last night for my love of Liv and I just couldn't COULDN'T do it. I spent the entire time going "what.. the.. ****.."

I'm a little ashamed to admit this, but I'm not going to lie.. I thought Drag me to Hell was pretty decent.

But of course by decent I mean only in that "OMG OMG THAT DIDN'T JUST REALLY HAPPEN!" kind of way.. not in a hey-you-may-not-want-to-sit-in-that-seat-i-was-scared-****less. xD

It was funny.. and ridiculous.. and some of the parts were freaky (her being dragged around the room was pretty damn realistic).

But I agree.. scary movies today just aren't what they were and it makes me sad in the pants.. sad crying
