Ryoko's eyes snapped up at the question. She opens her mouth for a second, then closes it, catching herself on saying the answer she tells everyone. It's such a bore, I have better things to do with my time, I really don't want to work that hard.... Thats what I usually say to people when they ask me that question, Ryoko thought. But I feel like I don't need to lie to him, or if I do, he'll catch me. Well, maybe not, he didn't catch me before, I do have talent. Ryoko gave out a quiet laugh to herself. "I have taken the Chunin Exams three times already... once with each squad I've been on before... but I always was beaten up when I came to the third phase, so I always dropped out at that time," Ryoko lies. I hope de doesn't look up my record, because that would compleatly kill my reason for quiting. Only my first exam I left the second phase with a broken arm, the second two times my team and I got out compleatly unhurt, Ryoko thinks, keeping a straight face and keeping her white eyes locked onto Takimaru, showing the face of truth whiled she lied.

Unaware of her kekki genkai even being used, which usually happens when she is in deep thought, the metal legs of the chair she is in start to slowly freeze, due to the contact of her frozen body.

(Notes: Kyoraku's can lower and increase their body tempertures to extreme mesures, but it does not effect their ability to live. It only turns the outside of their bodys cold or hot, and the only visable evidence of the kekki genkai in use is shown through their eyes, White when decreasing temp, bright red when increasing.
Ryoko wears special clothes that have been passed down in her family that have very high temperture tollerance.)

Observation was one of Takimaru's well developed skills as a jounin. He could tell that her appearance was changing and he was merely observing it until the chair started to begin collecting ice. She must have a Kekkai Genkai of some kind. I wonder what kind of powers it has. Looks like some kind of temperature controlling Genkai. Smiling at her warmly as he normally has while chewing some of the scrabbled eggs on the plate with a cut piece of sausage as well. After he swallowed the food and drank some of the horrible tasting medical drink, he wish he could have some of his wine at home to go with the meal.

Watching her closely as the ice slowly formed around the base of each chair leg he concluded some of the applications he, himself, could use in battle. "Ryoko, your chair legs are collecting ice." There probably was more to her Kekkai Genkai that he could learn from simple observation and it was clear that when the time was right he would learn everything about it. He would looking forward to receiving some new students to possibly flunk and demand quitting as ninja. It was would be the same way he was taught. A series of tests right from the beginning to keep his students constantly learning. Takimaru hate training genius genin. Takes all the fun and challenge out of being a team captain for a squad of genin. Looking back out the window and watching the birds fly around the window and land on the ledge he had a question to Ryoko that would actually determine whether or not he would want her as a student or not. "Ryoko, do you know who the king is?" It was such a hidden meaning type question to ask to a genin, but it would test her aptitude in becoming a fine shinobi in the future. The smarter a shinobi is the more resources one can create and utilize on the battlefield and that was someone Takimaru loved to have as a student. The question in and by itself is a test of how smart she is as an individual with her current level of training.

Ryoko sat in her chair, completely spaced in her thoughts, until the sound of Takimaru's voice brought her to reality. "Ice?" she questioned, a puzzling look on her face. She looked down at the legs of the chair which were completely frozen by now. "ICE!" she suddenly says jumping off the chair, at that moment her eyes blacken ad her kekki genkai releases. She kneels down and starts looking at the damage she did to the chair. "Oh, why does this always happen when I'm not paying attention? God, I'm suprised I haven't set my bed aflame yet! I wonder if I just set this in the corner if they with notice..." Ryoko complains to herself. She picked up the chair and moved it into the corner, returning to Takimaru's bed side with a sheepish look. "Hopefully that will just defrost..." she mumbles.

When Takimaru asks his question, Ryoko gives him a look back. "I guess it depends on what context "the king" is in. I mean... I never got to play any games when I was young, but I think my mother said something about it being the most important piece is a game... and I believe the king is also a figure in history, someone who controlled everyone... the top man." Ryoko sighed. She wished she really cared more about becoming a part of a team instead of her goal in life, but she just couldn't put her mind to learning that stuff. Information about her goal was all she was really into. The rest? It was all just for fun. "I guess if you want to win a game, or a fight, you need to take the king out."
PostPosted: Fri Mar 20, 2009 10:24 pm
Takimaru gave her a smirk at the answer he was given. She was completely wrong but that was besides the point. As he coughs a few times and rubs the bandaged ribs of his, all he could say to her was something she probably didn't want to hear in the first place. "You couldn't be more wrong. In a game of shogi the king is indeed one of the winning pieces you can checkmate in order to win the game. However, who is the king of the Leaf Village? Is it the feudal lord that rules of the Land of Fire? Is it the Hokage? You have much to learn Ryoko about the shinobi world." Lazy and dumb. What a perfect combination. Takimaru couldn't help but think so and sighs with frustration. He wouldn't deny the fact she was a nice kid but he was also beginning to think how much she has to grow in order to become a top-notch shinobi.

Crossing his bandaged arms across his chest, it caused some of the bandages to blot with red dots. Takimaru felt pain from crossing his arms in front of his chest but it wasn't why he did it. "Listen very carefully to what I'm about to tell you." Takimaru was getting serious with her, serious in the degree a teacher would for their student when something extremely important is about to be said. Of course, Takimaru always says very important things to his students or to any student for that matter. "If you want to become a shinobi, take it seriously. If you don't study and develop your own jutsu, people will die. If you don't learn how to work with others in s squad, you and your squad will die. I'm sorry, but that's the harsh reality of the shinobi world." Takimaru smiles warmly at her after being serious and continues with the last piece of information he wants to tell her; which is merely smooth talking to get her to work harder. "However, you have potential to even surpass me as a jounin." Something wasn't out of the realm of reality, it would just take time to accomplish on her end. Takimaru was hoping she wasn't taking what he was saying as something cruel, but he was intelligent enough to make a formulated plan to get genin on the correct path in their shinobi careers. After everything was said and done Takimaru held his hands to his mouth and started coughing really hard and blood came out of his mouth. Forehead was moist with his sweat and he looked like he was about to pass out from the stress of breathing; which doesn't sound good in the least.

Ryoko stood there and watched as Takimaru talked. Ryoko's eyes were fixed on him, and she wore the face of someone who wanted to learn all about this.

But in reality, that was a dead wrong as some one could get. She didn't give a thought towards wanting to be on a squad, or wanting to protect people. The only person she ever truly wanted to protect is dead- so she goes onto the next best thing: revenge. Pretending to care for people, pretending to be in a team, pretending to want to learn about the shinobi world that she really hated so much thanks to her father, it was all an act. She was only using these people to get closer to the information and people she wanted.
Her taget right now was this Takimaru. Why? He had an outsider tageting him as well. Being around him would get her closer to the outside of the village. In all her old squads, she never bonded with any of them. They all acted like friends, but in the end she'd always drop out as the other two moved on. She knew if she became a chunin she would be permently connected to the village. The leaf village- the pace that had beat down on her so much, she wanted nothing more than to leave. Every day her kekki genkai was getting stronger, but until she could use her ninja skills and not be killed, she dared not leave the safty known as the leaf village.

"I understand," Ryoko responded to Takimaru. He eyes and face lied to him, shoing him a girl who truly wanted to learn and be better. When Takimaru started his coughing fit, Ryoko gasped, then said, "Hold on, I'll go get a nurse." Running out of the room and down the hallway, Ryoko touched one of the nurses on the shoulder, making them jump because of Ryoko's still cold skin. "Excuse me, Takimaru Karasutsai is having trouble in his room. Please go check on him," Ryoko said, with a concerned voice and look on her face. The nurse nodded and started to gather more nurses to go to the room. Ryoko grabbed one of the nurses on their way to his room and said, "And if he asks about me, tell him not to worry about me."

Exiting the hospital, Ryoko massaged her head with her fingers. "Aw man, why do I need to keep this act up? Why can't I just have the guts to run away...?" She suddenly dissapeard from the street leaving nothin but a poof of smoke behind. She appeared at the top of a near by hill that went up against the Hokage face rocks. This is where the best baths in town used to be, the Kyoraku bath's and hot springs, before the Kyoraku clan had been named traitors. Ryoko walked into the main building, which the head of the clan used to live in- her father. She wallked through the rooms and the hallways, coming to the middle room, her "bed room." Being to lazy to care, she mearly fell ontop of the pile of blankets and pillows she called a "bed", and dozed off.

Takimaru waited as the nurses came in and started to scold him for not drinking the medicine that was prepared for him and he started to feel like a five year old kid being talked down by his parents. The nurses crowded around him and forced him to drink all of the medicine that made his stomach feel like exploding. I think I'm actually suffering more from drinking this than from getting pummeled in the forest. Takimaru always seemed to have some kind of charm with the women in the village for some reason and they all giggled at him after he drank the medicine. Oh god, what is with them? So annoying. They left him be in the room to rest and he laid back down to rest his body and mind. It was going to be a long couple of days for Takimaru as he didn't have anything to do while healing.

Perhaps tomorrow Ryoko will come visit him and he could ask her to go buy him something from the building called "Bookstore" which was a building that sold all sorts of books as well as ninja tools. He was more interested in two books in particular that would work well for him. First book is called, Taijutsu and Ninjutsu Advanced Principles and the other book is a blank paged one where someone could write notes into or possibly, in Takimaru's case, a detailed instructional booklet on how to mix ninjutsu and taijutsu principles together and how Dragon Style taijutsu is accomplished. However, Takimaru could tell from the moment he met Ryoko that she didn't meet the qualifications to learn such a specialized style of taijutsu -- at least at the moment.

((Note: To learn more about Takimaru Karasutsai's taijutsu style, please look under the "Intro to Jutsu: Taijutsu" section of the opening informational posts of the RP.))

Ryoko sighed, rolling over in her bed. Looking at the darkness of the room, she guessed that she had slept for at least five hour, or more. It had turned to night time. She got up, walking over to the shelf where she kept her ninja gear. She picked up her sword- a special sword tha thad been passed down the family. The whole sword was made out of a metal that could conduct and resist high heats. On the blade in an old language was written "Kyoraku no Kasai," or "Fire of Kyoraku."

"Where did you hide the other blade...?" Ryoko asked the sword, half way expecting and answer. Obviously, the sword never answered back. She picked up her ninja outfit and put it on. Looking in the mirror to make sure she didn't look like herself, she left the house and started to climb up the hokage face moutain. Reaching the top she looked over the whole village. Watching for activity along the borders of the village at night gave her a few pleasures.
1. She has a chance to get a work out by fighting off any intruders.
2. She gets a second work out by running away from the border patrol so they won't know who she is.
3. If anyone intrudes and reconizes her as a Kyoraku, or even better, as Ryou Kyoraku, she has a lead.
4. She gets to play pranks on border control if nothing happens.
PostPosted: Sat Mar 21, 2009 6:40 pm
The border patrol wouldn't let any individual ninja leave the village without proper authorization from the Hokage. As a result, Ryoko would find Tracking Pursuit Squads that are patrol the outer border of forest area that look for possible intruders or escaping shinobi. Naturally the patrol squads consist of top-notch shinobi that could look past any bluff or trap that a genin could create. However, border patrols in the forest have become lax in the peaceful years. Her escape would be rather easy if no patrol squads find her. Although Takimaru was unaware of her ambition to leave the village and seek revenge, all things shall be revealed to him in time. He was merely resting for the rest of the day and night. From time to time a snack or meal would be brought to him and the same horrible tasting medicine drink would come with it and a nurse would supervise him until he drank it all down as if he was a little child. It was something that he hated but was necessary for his recovery process from taking such a painful beating.

Despite Takimaru's physical condition, he was milling over his fight he lost the previous day. He would train himself once he gets a squad and look for ways to increase his effectiveness of his style of jutsu. The fact that he as so easily defeated made it seem like he was back down to a genin level in the shinobi world. He had to grow much more than he is quickly as possible, however, the training required for such jutsu development would need someone of exceptional skill to help him bring fourth the results he needs. Of course, with his chakra level, he could always Shadow Clone Jutsu train in order to develop his new jutsu.

Three times that Night Ryoko helped and catch intruders and run away before any one could catch her. If Ryoko had any outstanding skills, it was foot speed. Ever since she was young, running had been a part of her life, along with jumping. Once she was 15, she started practicing running with out leaving foot prints.

The next morning Ryoko spent hanging from the window of the second floor of the shinobi academy. She teased the teacher, entertained the class, and even gave a few tips to the students. After Hikari left for home, Ryoko made her way towards the shops. Getting more flowers would be a bore. She understood how horrible the hospital could be, because of that she felt sorry for Takimaru. But in her mind, she stood by her belief that she didn't care for anyone in this village. Walking by a food store she thought, they probably wouldn't let any outside food. Walking by the bookstore, she noticed she didn't have any idea what he has read or not, so she continued. Suddenly and Idea struck her. She ran home in seconds and returned to the hospital in a few more seconds. As she walked to Takimaru's room, she tossed a puzzle cube up and down, while messing with the puzzle on it. One of her old squad members had given it to her when she was hospitalized, might as well pass it on. She knocked twice before peeking through the door and asking, "You awake?"
PostPosted: Sat Mar 21, 2009 8:22 pm
Morning came. An entire day of recovery had been applied to his body and he was in the middle of his breakfast as a couple knocks at the door came his way. The bandages on his body were rather loose this time around as he saw Ryoko peek through the door and asked if he was awake. Smiling warming at the door and at her eyes he couldn't believe that she came to visit him again. "Yes, I'm awake." It wasn't like she has a responsibility to visit him while he recovers. However, he wasn't as exhausted as he was the day before. However, he had some questions for her to answer and hopefully she would give him the answers he needed. Although, these questions wouldn't be as complicated and intricate as the 'King' question that was asked yesterday to her.

"Please, come in Ryoko. I have some things I wish to ask you. Please, take a seat." He would wait for her to come into the room and sit in the chair next to the bed side. By the time she finished sitting down he would have finished his meal and had half a jar of medicine still to drink, with no nurse to supervise him in drinking it. He needed to begin his training as soon as possible and find the shinobi that knows his Dragon Style jutsu. He needed a student that had the potential to build up enough chakra and stamina in order to deliver massive amounts of damage in the shortest amount of time possible. Takimaru really needs a taijutsu specialist student to train or a jounin to train with. However, in order for someone to endure Takimaru's taijutsu training, they must first endure his nearly impossible physical training that many shinobi have tried to endure and failed horribly. The amount of effort required to even do even one of Takimaru's physical fitness training exercises for his taijutsu training is unheard of that only himself has been able to accomplish. Some shinobi would call him brilliantly psychotic for engineering such a terrifying style of taijutsu in the first place.

Ryoko smiled and walked it. He must think its strange... but the closer I am to him, the stronger I'll get and the closer to the outside I'll get, she thought, standing at his bed side. "Here," she said, holding up the wooden puzzle cube. "It took me three days to figure this out, but you'll probably finish it in an hour." She put the cube down on the bed side and went to retrieve a chair, making sure NOT to pick up the one she used yesterday. Don't want to go back there for breaking a chair... even though that wouldn't happen but... She brought it over next to his bed and resumed her seat from yesterday- knees brought up the chest. She noticed that he hadn't finished ALL of his meal and teasingly said, "You'll never get better if you don't drink that. Last time I was here the nurses were shoving it down my throat... have they done that to you yet?" She shuddered at the memory of the horrible stuff.

The last time she was at the hospital she had come in to treat her broken arm she had received during the chunin exams. She came in with her team mate Yuushirou, who had a broken nose, caused by Ryoko. They were trying a whole new attack by using Ryoko's kekki genkai and Yuushirou's control of wind with his jutsu to create an explosion. In result, both were hospitalized because they both underestimated the force of the explosion. Yuushiro got out within a few days, and got the puzzle cube for Ryoko. Ryoko had to stay there for two weeks until her arm, which was broken in 17 different places, had healed enough for a smaller cast.
PostPosted: Sat Mar 21, 2009 10:21 pm
Takimaru laughed softly at her question for a few seconds. "Yeah, I know I'm suppose to drink it. First I have questions for you." After saying that he took a few swallows of the horrible medicine and placed a hand at his stomach to ease the horrible taste. "Before I ask you the questions, I must first explain my first impression of you." Takimaru was smiling as she probably would get angry with him in a couple of seconds with what he is about to say. Let's see how she reacts to the truth. "When I first met you, I thought of you as one of the most worthless pieces of garbage genin I've never met. I'll be very honest with you when I say this. I still think you're worthless and a failure." Closing his eyes he drank more of the medicine and wiped his mouth and gives her another one of his usual warm kind smiles to her. "However, even if I believe you are a failure, I've always wondered how far a failure can go with the proper training." Takimaru would give her a few moments to absorb his obvious insults to her and it wasn't that he knew her very well or anything, it was something that he was doing on purpose to push her buttons. Hopefully the correct result he is looking for occurs and would make his amusement of getting her answers to his questions even more exciting. It wasn't normal what he was about to even remotely suggest to her from the line of questioning.

The genin he normally is assigned to train always seem to be top-notch genin graduates and he was always sick of getting skilled genin to train. A group of failures would be much more entertaining to train and instruct. Hopefully she wouldn't get really angry with him but it would be understandable if she did.

She sat there and listened. Of course she knew most of this was true- She started late in the shinobi world, and her heart wasn't really into it. She calmly listened to him, making no change in emotions. But she noticed something, This guy is guessing. The only way that he would've know how strong I am was to see me in battle or read my record. If he had read my record, than he would've busted open my reason for not being a chunin wide open. For her age and gender, she was amazingly strong. This was due to her spending most of her younger life in prison, working for the bail of her mother. She slightly shook her head, waving away the hurting memories.

"Are you offering to train me?" She said plainly as the sun during the day. She hardly believed that was what he was getting to, but it was a dumb enough guess that she thought he would believe it.
PostPosted: Sat Mar 21, 2009 11:28 pm
Her question and reaction to his comments surprised him but at the same time amused him to the degree where he chuckles softly and gives a small nod to what she said. "I've been bored lately and wouldn't mind having someone to train while having time off from missions like I've been having. The training you will endure will be like nothing you have ever had to deal with in the past. If you can 'pass' my training tests, you will be in a good position to learn some highly powerful jutsu techniques. However, to learn them you must first learn the Dragon Leaf Step jutsu. Also, there is history behind my nickname that you should be well aware of." Takimaru took a quick break from talking and drank the rest of the medicine before continuing. "The nickname Dragon Shinobi was given to me for the rarity of my style of combat. It's common knowledge among the jounin that my style of combat is jutsu combination attacks. I shall explain what this means. I'll take the Dragon Hurricane jutsu as an example. It's an extremely high rotational speed taijutsu attack that utilizes the Dragon Leaf Step jutsu as the cornerstone of the Dragon Hurricane's rotational speed. The faster the rotation of the attack the more damage will be inflicted."

The jutsu names might confuse her since she probably doesn't know the names of his taijutsu attacks yet, however, if she witnessed most of his battle with the strangely robed shinobi the other day then she probably noticed that the technique Takimaru was hit by from the start of the fight. "The Dragon Leaf Step jutsu requires a massive amount of chakra that no genin could possibly ever be able to pull off. In order for you to learn and utilize this jutsu you must first under go chakra training -- a training that increases your overall chakra capacity." Naturally the physical part of the training will be more difficult and she would benefit far more from enduring that training first to get her body with the necessary natural high speed of Strong Fist Style taijutsu. "This training is specially tailored to failures like the two of us." Although he called himself a failure, it wasn't to make her feel better or bring them on a equal level of status or anything. He didn't become an intelligent shinobi from the beginning like some do. Takimaru was always a below average ninja until his training was taken over by the Hokage and he became a wiser man as a result. Smiling warmly at her, he knew she probably thought he was full of long-winded bullcrap like he is trying to verbally spoon feed her.

"How do you know? Have you read my record? Do you know my past?" Ryoko said, being mean and pressuring him. She listened as he explained his name and Jutsu and said, "You think you might be able to make my chakra levels higher? I've tried most everything... " Which was the truth. Her body was really strong from being in prison, she had no fat and amazingly strong mucels. But she couldn't use her kekki genkai for a long time or use more than two jutsus per day due to her incredibly low chakra capacity.

This guy is strong, that is obvious, even if he was beaten to a pulp a couple nights ago. Maybe I can stay around him and get stronger to leave. She smiled and said, "So, when can you start giving me this training, Mr. Jounin?"
