Charismatic, charming, comfortable, and caring. More or less, this naughty boy is very much a Casa Nova, trying to sway any mare his way, sometimes not even consciously. It has become a way of life, and it would be a miracle if this boy ever settles down. He is rather knightly, chivalrous you might say, and he respects anyone and everything. He will always execute pleasantries such as introduce himself, bow his head, bend a knee, stand at the entry of a female, etc etc.
Yes, he can quite often overdo it with all the pleasantries he throws at mares, and this is something that he has only recently really come to realize. Understanding mares, and males too, he supposed, is also something he is working on.

(Each new addition will be after a spacing of '-------------')
Brackenhide has only very fuzzy memories of his foalhood. His mother was a wanderer, constantly seen with a new stallion, never staying in the same area for too long, and the last he heard of her, she was heading North towards the Dalonegei Canyon with her latest conquest.
She had left him behind to care for himself. All she was to him now was a half-remembered warm body that he sometimes got to snuggle up against, which quickly turned into a distant shadowy figure that laughed pleasantly. As for his father? He didn't know him. Not surprising with the lifestyle his mother had led. His mother never talked about him, never stuck around to have them meet.
As far as Brackenhide was concerned, he didn't have a father, and for all he knew his mother could be captured or dead by now. ------------- Recently, Brackenhide found out that one of his lady-friends was pregnant. And he was the father. He still wasn't too sure how this happened ((more may be explained as we flesh this out)), but when he came home with a basket he was distraught, desperate and had no idea what to do.
He didn't know how to raise a foal! He wasn't ready to be a father! What did he do? He took the basket to the only friend he really had. Thesh-Ah had been a mare that he met randomly, but was slowly becoming someone that he saw more and more. She was responsible, he knew, and she was close with her teepee and two-legger, so she looked like the best soquili to visit.
After calming him down, she agreed to help him raise the basket, much to Brackenhide's relief. ------------- As Recovery (the colt that emerged from his very first basket) grew, Brackenhide slowly came to terms with being a father. He knew he wasn't doing as well as the colt deserved, but he really had no idea what he was doing, and he never claimed to be any better than he was. Raising a life was no laughing matter.
Recovery mostly stays with Thesh-Ah, but Brackenhide makes sure to visit often and play a decent role in his life. He wants Recovery to know that he will always be there for him, if he should need him. ------------- Brackenhide recently met with one that most call 'Secret-Keeper'. He needed to find someone to talk to, someone he could share his confusing feelings with that wouldn't go and tell anyone, so who better than one who keeps secrets?
He talked to Betula more so to iron out his muddled thoughts and finally speak his feelings aloud, about Thesh-Ah. He's slowly realizing that he feels differently about her. He's never felt more than passion and lust for a mare, so this strange feeling of compassion and understanding is more than confusing for him. He's not yet ready to tell anyone else, because he's not really sure he's feelings what he thinks he's feeling and doesn't want to tell anyone (especially Thesh) until he's positive. But he's finding himself spending more and more time around the protector mare, and finally admitting to himself that he has indeed found himself a friend : something that simply does not happen with Brackenhide. -------------

Soft-Spoken [ CERT ]
Soft-Spoken is a calm, reserved owl that never speaks loudly, and doesn't speak often, but when he does it is something meaningful or wise. He has taken to following Brackenhide about to try and 'knock some sense into him and his promiscuous ways.'
