Seriously though? At least after reading this thread I realized that the OP understands that homosexuality isn't a black and white issue, as I've always seen myself as a gray case in it all. Going against the arguments that homosexuality is something people are stricken with through genetics alone, I was forced into it and am only this way due to a certain rush of pivotal events that shaped my life.

While I support the argument that genetics are 'a' factor in this, it gets extremely upsetting when people continuously feed me fatalist crap to comfort me, without letting me voice my side and case. (not anyone here, so don't take this as bashing)

Until quite recently (like what, fifty years? Maybe less), homosexuality was perceived as a mental illness. When told about such a thing, most people who fight for the gay rights get utterly offended about how bigoted the people could have been about it to think such a thing. The irony is that those SAME people claim homosexuality to be a hormonal matter, which would make the homosexuality being a mental illness a valid point, since most mental illness ARE hormonal dysfunctions.

Myth: Being gay is a choice

While some claim that being gay is a choice, or that homosexuality can be cured, evidence is mounting that same-sex attraction is at least partly genetic and biologically based.

To test whether genes play a role, researchers have compared identical twins (in which all genes are shared) to fraternal twins (in which about 50 percent of genes are shared). A 2001 review of such twin studies reported that almost all found identical twins were significantly more likely to share a sexual orientation - that is, to be either both gay, or both straight - than fraternal twins, who are less genetically close.
