I personally don't find it hard to believe. Not all Christians are assholes that hate Gays. I think the issue is a minority are vocal about hating gays and the non-haters aren't vocal enough about disagreeing with them.

Some people just can't understand it. I've been apart of my church for almost 12 years and I'm scared to even think about coming out to my church. I've only even told a couple of my friends who thankfully support me but it's still a really scary thought that someone from my church will find out and denounce me or something. I know that there are people in my church that support gays but I'm afraid of what the rest will do or say.
