Ryoichi sat atop the plateau, legs crossed and eyes closed. His long hair floated around in the wind as it gently rolled by but his body was as still as ever. In his mind, he could see a web of blue and grey strings and in the center of the chaotically intertwined strings of his chakra system, there was a a glowing white orb. Focusing on the orb gave Ryo a warm feeling inside. This must be what he was talking about. The more he focused on the orb, the more all the chakra threads started to fade and as they did so, the orb seemed to start to glow blue. At first, it was faint but over time the blue became more and more distinct.

Ryo started to focus harder and harder on the orb and the more he did so, the more that warm feeling turned into pins and needles throughout his body. It was almost too much to bear but he knew he had to continue. There was a quick burst of energy through Ryo's body as the blue in the orb seemed to break loose.

The burst rid his body of the pins and needles and made him feel light in weight. It was as if he had been walking around with a boulder on his back his whole life and someone had just removed it. Almost as if he could have floated away with the wind.

Ryo slowly stood while opening his eyes in order to get a good view of the endless tundra below him. He bent down and grabbed some snow from by his feet. He rolled the snow around in his hands while compacting it in order to make a fair sized snowball.

[5/5]He then stood again and with just a flick of his wrist, the snowball in his vanished. Ryo was surprised himself at what his body was capable of but this was good. He had finally learned how to open one of the eight gates that limit his body.

Ryo then slowly turned around to face the man who had been training him for the past year. The man he has learned to trust and love like an older brother. "Alright, I've got it. Let's begin." Ryo said to the man, the expression on Ryo's face plain as he spoke.

Matsu smiled and nodded at Ryo's quick progress. "Looks like your getting a hang of this pretty quickly." Matsu said with his arms crossed. He then crouched slightly, bending his knees. "If you get into a stance, you can get the focus you're going to need." Matsu said looking beside him while his body faced out to the mountains. The plateau was not very expansive, it ran a diameter of only a few hundred feet. The snow covered mountains kept them company as the freezing wind battered their bodies. Matsu's breath could be seen as he dropped into the horse stance. "This is called the Horse Stance. Feet spread apart, shoulder length and knees bent as far down as you can without bending your back." Matsu then looked away from Ryoichi and looked ahead into the white snowy clouds that surrounded the plateau. He then tucked his arms at his sides with his hands closed. Matus then closed his eyes. "The higher the level of gate you open, the harder it is to open the next but if you have the prior one open it helps a lot." Matsu said as he opened the first gate: The Hachimon: Gate of Opening. Matsu's muscles then notably began more defined.

Matsu kept his eyes closed as he put forth a good amount of focus. "Now, opening each gate is very much like opening any gate. You have to push it open. You have to use your chakra and focus it at the gate's doors and use it to push them open." Matsu looked calm and unflinching regardless of the chilling wind that blew across the plateau face. "Visualize your chakra and move it about your body to the location of the gate you want to open. In this case it is the second gate: The Gate of Healing. Do you remember where it is? Find it and give it a good shove." Matsu said unmoving.

Ryo watched as Matsu lowered into his stance. He paid attention to what Matsu had been saying but it served no purpose for him. I can do just fine standing upright. Ryo thought to himself as he slowly closed his eyes.

When he began to meditate, Ryo noticed something different, there was no orb. Matsu had said he had to find it somewhere in his body. So, for right now, Ryo stopped focusing and instead started to search for that point inside himself.

He tried his best to relax, which was pretty difficult seeing as his muscles were tightening more and more with every second that passed. Agh, forget it. He decided as he gave up trying to relax. He then coursed his chakra through every channel he could in his chakra system.

He was looking for any irregularities. The slightest bit of disturbance in his chakra flow was most likely another gate. It took less than a second to find the irregularity and once found, he flooded all the chakra he had to that one point.

His hands which were down by his sides started to twitch uncontrollably as the next gate was burst open. His fists, clenching extremely hard, fingernails digging into his palms. His hair started to move around but it wasn't because of the extreme winds that blew past him and Matsu. His hair was starting float upward.

Ryo opened his eyes to look at Matsu. His lips were sealed but his teeth were grinding against each other from the tension of the muscles in his mouth. Ryo had never had to endure such physical extremes so it came as a shock how difficult this was going to be. "Al-right. What's....next." Ryo said through his teeth. He'd rather endure the pain and learn of the gates' locations all at once than one at a time. His body was shaking from the strain on his muscles but he could feel the power coursing through his body.

Matsu opened his eyes after a few moments to look at Ryoichi's status. He stood upright and walked over to face him. He noted that he was not using the stance he had been suggested he use. Matus crossed his arms and saw the effects the gate was taking on his muscles already. "You are using too much chakra to open the gates already. Take it slow and easy." Matsu said, tilting his head slightly to the right, observing the way he clenched his jaw. "The stance I was using is ideal for the gate openings. It helps you get a better grip on the 'revs' that the gates give you with the bursts of chakra." Matsu grinned and nodded. "I know it looks ridiculous but it's going to help with overall control, including the pain that will come with every burst of power." Matsu stood in front of Ryoichi with his arms crossed, waiting for Matsu to prepare for the next Gate by taking the stance.

Ryo, nodded. He didn't like the fact that the stance looked so ridiculous but if it meant he could keep learning then he would have to deal with it for now. He slid his right foot through the snow, bent his knees and tucked his elbows in to his sides. Matsu was right, the stance helps. Ryo was already feeling a great alleviation in pressure all over his body. It was as if something was backed up in his system and now it was just flowing through him. He looked over at Matsu, ready for the next step.

Matsu nodded at Ryoichi's readiness and uncrossed his arms. "Alright, now this is when things start to get a bit more challenging. Next up is the Gate of Life. This gate is located here." Matsu pointed at the bottom of his neck, where the top ribs connected at the center. "Now, consider this. This Gate will push your muscles to their natural limit, going past this will begin to damage your body, which is why the Hachimon should only be used as a last resort." Matsu said stepping back just a step. He assumed the Horse stance and closed his eyes, taking deep breaths. "Push your chakra slightly at the point I described. Once you feel a slight resistance, keep pushing by adding more chakra until it is just enough to open the gate." Matsu opened an eyes to look at Ryoichi. "If you flood the gate with your chakra, it could result in a violent 'rev' which can be quite stressing to your chakra network and causes a bit of pain as well since your organs sit intertwined with the Tenketsu (Chakra Points)." Matsu then closed his eyes again and continued to breathe calmly. Suddenly, Matsu's light skin began to dark and his blonde hair under his bandana began to rise up at the edges. Matsu's muscles began to bulge more than before and his veins became defined all over his skin. He opened his eyes to reveal no irises. In the midst of such an intense condition, Matsu maintained calm under such a control he had developed over the years.

Ryo started to channel chakra to the point that Matsu had shown him. He tried easing the chakra into the spot but it was extremely hard with all of his chakra going crazy inside of him. Just a little at a time he thought to himself as he tried channeling his chakra.

As his chakra entered the area just below his throat, he could feel the resistance. He pushed more and more into that one spot but at a steady and slow pace. He closed his eyes so that he could focus a little more.

He could sort of feel the gate starting to give way as his chakra pushed its doors down. Before long, he could feel a massive amount of chakra fill his body, but he knew the gate hadn't opened yet. He had to keep pushing but now it would be even harder to ease into it now that he had so much chakra flowing through him.

The snow around him started to swirl upwards in a spiral as Ryo yelled out to try and relieve some of the pressure that was built up inside his body. His hair started to fly upwards as he made the final stretch in breaking the third gate.

In almost an instant, the snow seemed to shoot out in every direction away from Ryo, creating a sort of snow screen that enveloped Ryoichi. As the snow cleared, Ryo looked around for Matsu. After he caught sight of him, he grinned. His eyes were as white as the snow itself and his hair seemed to be jumping in a never ending wind. He stood straight with his hands down by his sides which for some reason made him feel more comfortable. Although he could feel the massive amount of tension in his body, he was still comfortable as if his body had gotten used to the strain and now just ignores it.

"This feels amazing." He said to Matsu as he disappeared. Ryo had to release all his energy somehow so he launched himself extremely high into the air. While up there, he started to kick and punch as if fighting an invisible opponent. All of his movements were merely blurs because of how fast he was moving. After a few seconds of this quick release of energy, Ryo appeared back in the same spot with a large smile on his face. "So, what's next." Seeing what he could do now, he was anxious to learn more and grow more powerful.

Matsu stood upright and took deep breaths to keep hold on the chakra that was passing through his body. He watched as Ryoichi opened the next gate with a strong base. Matsu nodded as he crossed his arms. In a moment, Ryoichi disappeared. Matsu looked up to the sky to see a blur of motion before Ryoichi had reappeared where he was standing before. Matsu smiled, he had been reminded of when he was in training himself. "Alright, it looks like you've got that one down. The next one isn't very different. The View gate is found here." Matsu leaned to one side to reveal his back where he placed one hand. "Down here on the spine is where you need to focus." Matsu then closed his eyes where he was standing and began to breathe in. He leaned back slightly before he exhaled. There was then a wave of chakra that left his body. Matsu opened his eyes to watch Ryoichi reach the next level.

Ryo nodded and grunted as he felt the chakra fill his body and escape in waves. I can do this. Ryoichi focused his abundant chakra down into his spine.

Due to the overabundance of chakra, the chakra that Ryo was sending to his spine was flowing out of his back and concentrating. It began to look as if one large, frameless fin was forming out of his back.

Attempting to hold his chakra in his spine brought a pain from within. Ryoichi clenched his jaw as he tried to redirect his chakra instead of retrain it. The Gate was located at the center of the spinal column.

As the chakra was redirected down the spine, it began to build against the gate. Ryo continued, hoping the gate would open but it seemed that the building chakra would escape out from his back constantly. It was as if there was a leak in a pipe, not allowing pressure to build.

Ryoichi thought of a strategy that would strain him if it did not work. He redirected the chakra from the Gate of Life and pushed it with all his might to the Gate of Pain. Shigeru gritted his teeth as the quick burst of chakra ran down his spine against the gate. The chakra rammed the gate, forcing it open. Ryoichi's eyes opened, revealing the white of his eyes. He grunted as his chakra burst out of the gate and escaped his body.

Ryo dropped to his knees and placed his hands on the ground in front of him. He was breathing extremely hard and the snow around him started to evaporate into steam because of the extreme heat given off of his body. After a couple seconds, he slowly forced himself to stand. After the pain of opening the gate had gone, he felt completely fine...no...he felt even better than before but he had no way to test it. But he knew he should wait until the time came to practice such power. Instead he looked at Matsu and nodded, waiting for more instructions.

Matsu stood back as he watched Ryoichi continue down the path of the Hachimon. He quickly noticed Ryoichi begin to struggle. Matsu said nothing as he began to circle him in observation. A white object then suddenly began to come out of Ryoichi's back. Matsu was surprised at the sight but remembered Ryoichi's Kekkei Genkai. Is this the effect the Gates have on his distinct Bloodline? Matsu stood behind Ryoichi and brought up his hands to perform a single Tiger handsign, activating his Byakugan. Matsu then walked back to face Ryoichi, examining the flow of chakra that was taking place within him. Matsu saw that Ryo's chakra had found an escape through the fin that had formed out of his back. Ryoichi then resorted in surging all of his chakra to the Gate of Pain in one desperate attempt. He succeeded in opening the Gate but it had clearly exhausted him for it sent him to his knees. After a moment, the newly tapped chakra filled Ryo's chakra system, replenishing him. Relieved, Ryoichi stood back onto his feet. Matsu crossed his arms, holding his chin up with his right palm. Matsu looked pensive in this stance but his reddened skin and risen hair said otherwise. "Alright, you're nearing your limit. I can tell by the strain on your Tenketsu. We can continue onto the next Gate but going further than that would be a bad move." Matsu said before uncrossing his arms and putting one at his waist in a comfortable manner. "But before we continue, I'd like to tell you about what happened just now." Matsu referred to the fin that had formed out of Ryo's back. "That bone that extended from your spine was a result of poor chakra control. Now, before you assume that I have no confidence in you, I want to say that it's normal. Being a Taijutsu shinobi, chakra control is one of the things we are naturally not good at. Also, the fact that you have a Bloodline Trait that requires a considerable amount of chakra directly from your physical body means that you're going to have to work that much harder to keep your chakra from manifesting in that way." Matsu said pointing to Ryoichi's fin with a flick of the wrist. Matsu then crossed his arms and raised his chin slightly as he took another breath. "The Taijutsu we are going to studying are ironically going to require great chakra control. Do you think you can handle it?" Matsu asked to see if Ryoichi was confident or cautious.

Without hesitation, Ryo nodded. He was eager to take things to the next step.

Matsu nodded and stepped back. "This Gate can be found here." Matsu placed a finger two inches above the navel. "This one is called the Limit Gate. It will increase your speed and strength by a multiple of five." Matsu said before removing his hand from the area. He looked to Ryoichi and closed his eyes. "Remember to focus your chakra at that one point. Like hands gripping a ball, focus your chakra into one area and don't let it escape." Matsu took a deep breath before his chakra began to flow out of him like the breath he exhaled. He then looked as if he began to blur, the outline of his figure seemed to disappear as he opened his eyes once again. Now, the conditions for a Lotus had been met although such a technique was quite advanced.

Alright. Ryo assured himself. He felt that he could not stop where he was. He knew the location of the next gate and would not stop until he reached his limit.

Ryoichi strained to keep still as the ground beneath him began to shake under his feet. His will was truly being tested by trying to concentrate his chakra to what seemed to be beneath his forehead..

It felt like there was something on his back, pressure, moving up his spine. He closed his eyes in attempts to increase focus but it did little. Ryo visualized the gate and calmly pushed the great aamounts of chakra to that point.

In his state, Ryo had barely any grip on his chakra for it was seeping out and lashing out around him. He grunted in his attempt to retsrain his chakra until something gave way. The muscles around his spine began to tear and expand.

Ryoichi could not feel the pain but could feel his body become more loose than before. This made him believe that he was getting a grip on his chaka. After a few minutes of failing to open the gate, Ryo decided to try the tactic he tried before. In one quick burst, Ryo flooded the gate with his chakra and it gave way.

Ryoichi stood, staring at Matsu with his balnk eyes. He looked down at his hands, which seemed to be vibrating at a speed that mad it seem like he had a sort of after image. He then looked back up at Matsu with a grin as his hands clenched into fists. "Now what was this taijutsu you mentioned earlier?"

Matsu smiled and nodded as he watched Ryoichi go deeper into oblivious power of the Hachimon. He noted that Ryo's focus needed much work, observing the flow of chakra within him. After attempting to focus his chakra the way Matsu had instructed, he failed and resorted to forcing his chakra to the Gate. It then opened with damages to his body, something that Matsu expected. He didn't look very pleased but at least now, Ryoichi had the chance to open up to five of the gates. Ryo asked Matsu for further training in Taijutsu but he knew that would not happen. He uncrossed his arms and shook his head slightly. "Sorry, but we are going to train more before we learn any more techniques. We can start by experimenting with the current state of power you're in." Matsu turned to look down the mountain and pointed down at the pass that led back towards the village. "Let's see how quickly you can make it back to the village without losing the muscles in your legs." Matsu said looking back to Ryoichi. He then began to stretch one arm after the next. "I'll meet you back over there." He said before there was a sudden pulse of chakra that sent the snow around him away from him. Matsu smiled with a glance to Ryoichi as a he took a step forward and disappeared.
