Rouxe's ego is at odds. While her upbringing taught her to believe she was superior than those outside of her herd, she feels worthless because of her inability to kill. The result of this is a mare who keeps her distance from others, including her herdmates. She leads a solitary life, and while she has recently learned to be content with her abilities (or lack thereof), it is difficult for her to allow herself to be happy. She rarely loses her composure.
She holds special affection for her firstborn daughter, Riomie; her adopted daughter, Kesha; and her familiar, Weed.
HISTORY

Rouxe was born in the Code of Edda, a herd of female valkyries who believe they can send individuals to paradise by killing them with their own hands. However, Rouxe's unicorn blood rendered her unable to take another soquili life. Feeling that she could not perform her honor-bound duty to the herd, she put herself in a self-imposed exile.
During her travels, she befriended the timorous Weed, a mute fox. Dubbed her "Little Shadow" for his tendency to stay close to her side, he remains her faithful familiar.
Later on, she met Zamiel (Roniel), a stallion who hunted down other soquili for sport. The two were impressed by one another's prowess and had a fling, resulting in four baskets. She kept the daughters and one son, leaving the remaining son with Zamiel. (She later realized her error: she had only one daughter, and the remaining baskets were males.)
Rouxe grappled with herself on what to do with her first children. On one hand, she wanted them to be raised by her herd, so that they could learn of their culture and receive a full education. On the other, she feared they would grow up to be unable to kill like her, despite their father's blood.
She chose to raise them on her own. However, when emerged from their baskets, she soon realized she was not well-suited or prepared to be a single mother of three. They traveled together to reach the Code of Edda, where she gave them up to be raised communally by the herd. At first, she stayed around the territory to keep an eye on them, in case they inherited too much of her unicorn blood and needed to be taken away. However, she fell back into old habits and ended up rejoining the herd.
Rouxe still feels out of place; however, her children remain her pride and joy. Although her firstborn daughter, Riomie (DarkenWoodWolf), grew to despise her for her weakness, she remains fond of them all. She felt that by bringing them to the Code of Edda, she was able to give back something to her herd.
She stayed within the territory for a few years after that, rekindling old bonds and getting acquainted with the changes that had taken place since her exile. She befriended Keshani Avenara (~Latonia de la Courtel~) as well, and considers the mare to be an adopted daughter.
She later had a breeding with Kestrel (Ryuukishin), resulting in a second daughter, Rán (Ryuukishin). Her third breeding was with Viracocha (Fatal Irony). |

Kestrel is as predatory as he appears: a wolfish creature with a covetous gleam in his eyes and a grin spread wide with greed. When he sees something he wants, he is quick to act. His claws flex as if to grasp the thing he so desires, his wings propel him on, he pushes forward – and the feeling vanishes. He enjoys the chase; however, it is the act of pursing that he treasures more than the thing itself. As soon as he succeeds, or even before, his hunger dies, and with it, his will to go after the item.
This whimsy plagues him so often that he is by and large an easy-going individual. Unless he feels a strong desire for something, he is more than content to let others do as they will. This gives him the appearance of a passive, lazy creature, but that is far from the case. Rather, he is full of such utter confidence that he feels no need to make a show of himself. He will not chase after anything that no longer holds any appeal for him; he will not initiate fights or target large prey for the sake of impressing another; he will not do anything that goes against his own wishes. It is enough for him to have his own validation, and he would be hard-pressed to seek it in others.
There are times when he covets other soquili, rather than objects, and in such cases he would consider their opinions if he thought the benefits were worth the costs. However, this desire never spreads to baser urges; though not asexual, he is rarely interested in other soquili in that manner. Indeed, if he were to breed, his partner must be the one to show initiative.
His selfishness and disregard for those he has no interest in has given him a simple, black-and-white outlook of the world. Things are categorized as “liked” or “disliked,” and treated accordingly.

As a child and young adult, Sardine is a violent, distrustful individual. She resorts to physical violence with little warning, and protects herself and her brother by chasing off potentially dangerous individuals (read: everyone). She is impossible to interact with at this stage.
After Snapper leaves to be with his lifemate, Sardine begins to open up to others. This is fueled by a desire for revenge rather than a willingness to socialize. Despite that, she is able to make acquaintances. As she had never truly communicated with another besides her brother, she is easily charmed and impressed by those who are able to look past her aggression to stay with her.
When she meets Masque, she softens around the edges, and it becomes much less life-threatening to approach her. She is willing to try and be amicable, although she has likely failed more times than not. Unfortunately, she reverts back to her violent self after she is captured and imprisoned, and is only willing to interact with her family after she has been freed. However, she will grow to be kind again, if a little world-weary.

Sardine and her brother, Snapper, were born to their two fathers, Lazarus and Mest. While the stallions loved one another, their relationship had grown unsteady after the birth of Sardine's older sister, Anchovy. During Anchovy's growth, Lazarus had hinted at his nonchalance towards children, which went against Mest's kinder heart. While Lazarus might have been willing to feign concern for the sake of his lover, he soon showed his true colors.
Lux, an old enemy of Mest's, soon happened across them. In secret, she set the two stallions' home ablaze, mere days after Sardine and Snapper and come out of their baskets. Mest had been away, so Lazarus flew off to ensure his own safety, leaving his wingless children (and a Sardine too young to fly) to fend for themselves.
Anchovy reached for them, trying to shield her two baby siblings, but a burning tree fell between them, splitting them apart. It was only Snapper's death-grip on her tail that kept them together as they raced away from the flames. Snapper clung to her tail like a safety blanket ever since, and her tail is crooked in many places as a result.
Split from home and family, the two were soon scooped up by Lux, who strove to raise them to be her minions. While at first the siblings believed their family had survived, this hope soon died as they bore Lux's torture. Surely, if their family was alive, they wouldn't allow Lux to continue as she did.
Despite their trials, Sardine and Snapper were rarely apart. They looked after one another, and a year later, are able to escape Lux's clutches with the help of one of her dissatisfied minions. However, their time together left a mark, resulting in a hyper-aggressive Sardine and a fearful Snapper. Sardine spends the rest of their childhood looking after her brother, Snapper.
The two spend almost the entirety of their independence in solitude. Sardine thought it would go on forever, that they would always have each other. However, when Snapper fell in love with another, Sardine was left feeling forsaken and alone. Hoping to get revenge by finding a friend of her own, she sought comfort with the companionable Gypsy Rogue. He made it clear he was not the type of stallion that would stick around, but that was okay with her; she thought it normal that everyone leave eventually, and had no hard feelings when he ultimately moved on. And, once she realized her ballooning stomach was not a sign of impending explosion, but pregnancy, she was happy to take on the mantle of motherhood. She saw her children as miniature Snappers, and therein lied her error. Her foals did not come to her traumatized, and the fierce protectiveness she foisted on them was not welcomed but despised. When Sardine fought her children's peers, or their parents, it was not seen as her coming to their defense so much as her chasing away their friends. On top of that, Sardine expected them to be as reliant on her as Snapper had been, and could not comprehend their independent natures. Suffice to say, her children were not very fond of her, and left once they could look after themselves.
Hoping for a third chance, she bred again with the unbalanced Umbra. However, neither of them were ready for parenthood, and the foals ended up being forcibly taken by Umbra's parents for the sake of the children's well-being.
Her final breedings are with Masque. They help each other grow as characters, face hardships together (including facing Lux once more), and become lifemates. |

Jinko was raised by a snake, away from soquili society. Thus, while she is physically capable and able to read her environment with ease, she lacks the mental maturity that most associate with an adult of her kind. For instance, while she can decipher tracks, create shelter, and live well on her own, much of her speech is composed of simple words, and she rarely deals with abstract concepts. This extends to morality as well; she has little notion of right and wrong, though she tries to do what she thinks Daliu would approve of.
As a result of her upbringing, she is snake-like as well, often bathing on rocks or staying stock still for hours, her features expressionless all the while. In addition, she is optimistic. She doesn't dwell on past troubles, preferring instead to live in the moment.

Jinko was one of Quidal and Jin-Soo's four children. While she was still a foal, her father had to leave to pay an emergency visit to his firstborn daughter and Jinko's half-sister, Bitey. Jinko asked to follow him, eager to see more of the world, but became lost in one of the large forests near their home. Jin spent his travels believing she was with her mother, while Quidal thought Jin was taking her with him. If Jin had returned as quickly as he'd planned, they might have noticed their error and remedied it. However, Jin got caught in the middle of the Kalona War, and was unable to return until years had passed. By then, Jin had changed as a result of the war, and Quidal has found another. Their discovering that Jinko was lost to them only fueled the split.
Jinko, meanwhile, wandered the forest alone, her calls for help unheeded. It was only when she was at death's door did Coaxoch find her. The feathered snake nursed her back to health, and Jinko, grateful to feel loved again, considered the snake her adopted mother.
Coaxoch was a snake through and through, however. Her affection for Jinko was her only anomaly; past that, she was without emotion, and as solitary as the rest of her kind. Jinko, having no one else to learn from, mimicked her carefully. She grew up to be as snakelike as her mother, to the point where she even drawled her s's, and is considered by most to be a feral child.
While she and her mother have come to see herself as an adult due to her ability to hunt and fend for herself, other soquili would find that she lacks mental maturity. She displays childlike characteristics with her use of basic language and her simplified outlook, and understands little of soquili society. Kazimir, a chaotic individual who wanted to test his ability to harm one with strong angeni blood, takes advantage of this. He played mind games with her, leaving her not only ignorant of outsiders, but hostile towards them, too. He leaves her after she bears his children, taking the baskets with him.
Despite the experience, Jinko does not close herself off from other soquili. She is able to meet others, and becomes used to the presence of soquili again. Ultimately, she falls for Daliu (Latonia). While she does not conform to the normal soquili gestures of love, she is possessive over the mare, and tries to listen to Daliu's moral compass, even if she does not understand it.
Her other breedings were for simple pleasures. She does not understand where children come from. Even if someone told her (again), she would forget it, because so much time passes between the act and the actual birth. As for the actual children themselves, she tends to abandon them, if they don't wander off on their own. As Coaxoch's affection only extends to Jinko, she does not stop the children, either. Daliu attempts to stop this, but her actions backfire when Jinko realizes Daliu may pay more attention to the children than to her. Jinko begins to take a more active role, and chases the foals away. |

Despite his looks, Azrael is placid individual. He is rarely disturbed, and those who try will often be met with good-natured laughter rather than irritation.
While he is pragmatic and, on occasion, aloof, he finds it in his best interest to be kind to those in his presence, and he is fiercely loyal to his family.
HISTORY

Azrael was conceived to help his father, Lazarus. Years earlier, Lazarus had convinced an amnesic stallion, Mest, that they were lovers, so that Mest would look after and protect him. Mest inevitably discovered the truth, leaving Lazarus to fend for himself. However, Lazarus had been sick as a child, and while he grew healthy again, he would never be as strong as others. Unwilling to leave himself undefended, he courted the powerful and dangerous Kianzio-Uzulu, resulting in Azrael and his siblings.
While Lazarus had initially planned to train them all, this was his first time teaching others. In the end, Azrael was the only one with the proper training and loyalty, and he became his father's chosen weapon and bodyguard.
He was not only favored by his father, but his mother as well. His older brother and younger sister betrayed their diluted blood with their feathered wings, and it was only he who displayed the draconic traits that his mother and her family so desired. As a result of this, he was able to meet up with his mother's side of the family, and so receive more training. Once his training is complete, he dedicates himself full-time to Lazarus, and shadows his father everywhere.
Ultimately, it is love that takes him from his father's side. He and his childhood friend, Rangvaldr (xXToxicIllusionsXx), declare their love for one another, and Azrael begins to spend more and more time in his husband's territory.
Timeline:
Azrael knows that genetics may predispose an individual into a certain way. To test his child-rearing abilities, he makes an agreement with Chosovi (XxXPandamoniumXxX) to receive a child that is not related to him in any way. The child was raised to be independent, and Azrael encouraged them to seek a life of their own after he'd received all the information he needed. (This does not mean he be aloof towards the child or neglectful in any way.)
Satisfied with his results and having plans to improve his methods in the future, he made a contract with Thera, who fit his requirements of being powerful and draconic, to have her bear his children. He only intends to take one basket and otherwise leave her at peace; he will groom this child as Laz groomed him. He intends to keep the child close to him, but whether it will be accepted on Val's side is uncertain. ICly, he would go after a winged child so it can keep up with him; OOC anything is fine (if unwinged, then ICly it could have been born with wings but lost them somehow).
He has his Wishing Star children with with Val. He further practices his child-rearing methods; this time, on children that will grow to be his family, not his underlings.
He breeds with Villie is a result of a plot; he gives her children so he has safe passage to escape her herd's territory.
The rest are casual flings and can happen at any time IC. He will not make an effort to find them, so it's unlikely they will meet. |

Wolffish was neglected as a child, abused when he was not ignored. This, coupled with the devastating wound he faced as a basket, left him slow and stupid. He is more akin to a dog than a sapient creature. However, while he is kind and desperate to make friends, his time with the mad Lux and her crew has twisted his understanding of what it means to be “nice,” and he often ends up scaring up potential companions—especially when he starts off with dinner and wants to share a nice, rotting corpse with them.

Wolffish and his sister, Jellyfish, were born to their two fathers, Lazarus and Mest. Unfortunately, shortly before their baskets appeared, the two stallions’ home had been set ablaze, and the presumed deaths of their children split them apart. In his grief, Mest wished for more children, and was granted Wolffish and Jellyfish. However, by chance, he did not find the baskets that had been set in his path; a stray sound caught his attention, and he turned to investigate, losing the baskets forever. Lux, Mest’s old enemy and the mare who’d burned down his home, found them instead, and raised them as her own. Or at least, she raised one of them.
While Jellyfish proved to be a strong and ideal attack dog, Wolffish was constantly wounded. His most fatal injury took place when Lux had accidentally stepped on him as a basket, leading to the gaping hole on his side. Deemed weak and dubbed a “good for nothing,” he was abandoned. Lux would have happily left him to die, but the cheerful Wolffish took her cold shoulder with good grace and happily followed in her trail, despite the physical and verbal abuse he faced amongst her crew. When he wasn’t being mistreated, he was ignored, with no one sparing a thought for the needs of little foal that shadowed them. Ultimately, he earned his name in his starvation, as he began feeding on the bodies that Lux and her crew left behind.
Despite his treatment, he loved them dearly. Even when Nsia (Yushika) tried to teach him another way, he could imagine no other way of life. He might have stayed with them forever, if Lux had not taken a yellow basket under her care. From the basket emerged a little filly, Amund (Bluedemonwolf), who grew to be his first friend.
Amund was the only one to give him any sort of regular attention, and he quickly grew attached. When he learned how unhappy she was, the two of them escaped together, not realizing the consequences of leaving Lux. Amund is taken from him, and he’s left alone with their daughter until he’s able to find his way back to Nsia. |

Perish Song has bioluminescent innards. When he opens his mouth, or is wounded, a soft light emanates from within, and this is most noticeable around his eyes and gilled sides. Blood, saliva, organs, and so forth will glow as they fall from his body, though they will lose their light within a minute. His cyan and purple markings have a faint shine as well.
Like a shark, his skin has a rough, sandpapery texture, and his mouth possesses multiple rows of serrated teeth. He is able to breathe underwater.

Perish Song inherited not only the towering size of his mer mother, but her siren call, too. His song is captivating, its allure spelling certain death for those who follow its melody.
Despite his land-dwelling legs, he prefers to spend his time in the sea, often going for months without touching shore. However, the ocean is a vast and lonely place, with little else to talk to. During such times, he will enter a primitive state where he relies on instinct and reaction rather than conscious thought; he is focused solely on survival and behaves similarly to a wild animal.
When he returns to land, however, and interacts with other soquili again, he can be brought back into himself. During such times, he's capable of being charming, though it's merely an extension of his siren tricks and not indicative of his true nature.
When hunting in the water, he prefers to use his natural glow to lure prey towards him. When hunting on land, he prefers dragging prey to the sea to drown them, though his fangs and claws also do nice work. If he chooses to hunt other soquili, he'll do so by pretending to be caught in his net, and take those that rush to his aid. He travels often to prevent others from recognizing and countering these tactics. Otherwise, he attracts prey with his siren song.
As a general rule, he does not hunt kelpis, mers, or other intelligent marine life unless they're in direct competition with him.
