Metal Gothic Dragon Okay, here's my two cents...
The guy looks hotter as a "beast" than he did as a human.
I'm a big, big fan of Beauty and the Beast, and will watch any version of it because I want to see if they do justice for the story.
Also, I don't think it's fair to be going around talking about his scars as if they're "not a big deal". "Appearances aren't everything?" Well, they sure ain't nothing. Think of it, one day your life seems perfect, and you have everything you could ever need, then the next day it's all taken from you including your appearance. Just imagine yourself with his scars. People would judge you with one look. You couldn't get a decent job. People would be afraid of you and keep their distance. You couldn't go to many public places without being stared at and scaring little kids. Your life is a living hell; to the point you believe staying inside is the best thing you could do for everyone.
And another thing before I go....
Who are you to tell us we're shallow people for wanting to watch a movie? You don't see me calling you out just because you might be a Twilight fan while I down right hate the series. I came to this guild not to be judged, so please be nice. Couldn't have said it better myself.

I don't really think the movie should be that dissed. It's a very good book, only in the book he actually does turn into a beast. The book is funny and just puts Beauty of the Beast with a modern twist. It's not like Twilight which compared to Beastly is so much worse, in my opinion bot to offend anyone who likes it.
This is just my opinion. I'm only hoping the movie is as funny as the book is.

I blame society more than anything. If the producers attempted to make him look ugly, they'd never make a profit. Hardly any girl would go see a (live action) romance with an actually ugly leading man, sadly. =/
Check "Holywood Homely" on TV Tropes for more details.

I think it's a little much to say that anyone who watches the movie is shallow. But I don't think I will be seeing it.
The "beast" does not look the slightest bit ugly. I actually think he looks pretty hot, actually. Whether it's based on Beauty and the Beast or the novel Beastly....either way, the boy is supposed to be an ugly beast. It just seems a little shallow to me. :c
These days in movies, EVERYBODY is beautiful, unless it is a villain or something. (And even then, many times the villians are beautiful too.) Whenever there is an unattractive person in a movie, it seems like they are just there to be made fun of....Why can't there be average looking people in movies? D;

I actually really want to see this movie too. It looks like something I would like and I do enjoy the over all message of the film and I really don't think it's shallow at all just because the 'beast' isn't your idea of ugly. Beauty is perceived in different ways and while some of you may find the 'Beast' more attractive like that, that doesn't mean all girls will think that. I'm sure their are plenty of girls who find him in that form ugly, like girls who find tattoos and piercings gross.

I have absolutely no plans to see this movie but... Guy #1. Is most likely a wrestler, he looks fimilar but I can't place him. Take the make up and costume away and your left with the fat. Lots of over weight men have hot wives/girlfriends. Guy#2 Photoshopped so doesn't count. #3 I believe he is married as well, if you looked at the pics after he has had most of the ...stuff... taken off his face, he is mildly attractive. And has continued to get the stuff reduced or taken off the rest of his body. Treeman "You know what? I wanna see a hot chick fall in love with these guys" Just because you don't find them attractive doesn't mean that someone won't find them attractive. Compared to: He is Hollywood ugly. Millions of young teenage girls will not go see this movie if they put the guy from Mask in it, instead of the tasty looking guy they did cast. I don't really find him attractive, but shave his head and add the scars and tattoos, and I find him very yummy.

Well, for starters I hate movies which main genres are Romance in general. Secondly, I also hate stories that are about humanoid changes on a human. I am personally ashamed of the movie Beastly mostly because I know many people that alter their appearance to look exactly like that, and worse, and they have huge followings of women and men that love them. But I also understand the movie wouldn't sell if the leads weren't attractive. Nobody really wants to see an ugly person in a movie when they can see an ugly person in real life.
In many of the versions of beauty and the beast, the Prince changes physical form completely. In an amazing retelling simply called Beast he actually changed into a lion. That is always interesting, seeing a girl fall in love with a human trapped in the body of a true beast. I've read a short version where the Beast is a giant snake, or some mythical hybrid creature. But I know that's just me.
I'm positive many people like this movie, and especially the book. But neither sound like my cup of tea. I do highly suggest Beast though. Also, I was going to say exactly this. Thank you for saying that about those images.
Also, after a bit of research out of curiosity, the first guy happens to be Vrangsinn who is mostly famous for being in a Norwegian Black Metal band. Which, even though, personally after seeing so many pictures of him, I think he'd disgusting. But I also expect that he had quite the following who thought he was attractive.

The book was WAYY better.
Just sayin. XD The movie has one of my least favorite actresses in it.. Vanessa Hudgens. And thats not how i picture his beast form in the book...

I'm not going to see it because it looks like a teeny-bopper version of a timeless classic. And that's just blasphemous in my opinion.
And I agree on his looks. Even as a "beast" he's still pretty handsome... I wouldn't turn away from him in disgust!
But it reminds me of a tv show that aired a while back, "Ugly Betty." The show had a nifty concept, but Betty wasn't ugly, by any means. Sure, she had braces, glasses, and wore comfortable clothes, but that doesn't make her "ugly."
Producers just need to get a grip on exact definitions. They're killing the self-esteem of their fans.
